Welcome to Smogon! I started with RSE, too, but not when it was originally released; rather one or two years later. Visit the "VGC" room if you haven't already, as it is the perfect place to discuss and learn about the tier, and help other players! If you need help with anything, ask your questions here and/or PM a mentor.
My hobbies besides Pokemon include soccer, but when I do watch tennis, my favorite players are Djokovic and Nadal. I also love cars! :D

hello world! I'm agunymonymous (obviously not my real name, but close enough), but you may call me agu, I'm gonna make a slightly longer introduction than average probably. anyhow I'm like 15 years old,(16 in march) I live and was raised in norway. I've loved pokemon since my childhood, but got into competitive battling just recently (I think I actually made a very good AG team, though), I'm somewhat capable of the basics of pokemon ROMHacking but I haven't really gotten into it cause I lack ideas, but I might get into it if I get one or more people to sprite for me. my interest include playing video-games and making various kinds of music in FL studio with questionable quality, else I'm mostly bored a lot. I dunno if I'm revealing too much to strangers but I'm diagnosed with asperger, however I do love talking to people through text. (and possibly skype if I get comfortable enough, however I think my voice is awful) I'm somewhat of a minorly infamous internet celebrity, or used to be, due to playing a rhythm game called osu! (the taiko mode to be specific...oh yeah, not trying to advertise, sorry if I am) osu! has a scoring system that bases your ranking on how good it thinks your scores are, most people thought a modification gave too much points (I didn't), this mod made it so you had to memorize most songs to play without missing, thanks to this mod I reached rank 140~ worldwide and rank one in norway, however now I'm just rank 3 in norway and rank 725 as I write this.
reason I joined smogon was honestly mostly because I had trouble setting up a pokemon showdown server, maybe someone can help me with it...maybe I'll hang out every once in a while though.

EDIT: forgot to mention that they changed the scoring system in osu!taiko, it currently is in a pretty unfinished state, and the memorize/flashlight mod doesn't give any points as of now

Hi everybody! I'm WhiteWinter. I'm turning 15 next week and I've been with Pokemon for few years. I bought my first TCG pack around 2004-2006 and my first game (Heart Gold) on it's release year (in Europe). I started competitive battling in X, but I'm not good at it and I mostly enjoy creating random move sets for Pokemon. I have used the battle simulator before, but I'm joining to Forum now. I enjoy school, playing video games, nature and I can get a bit off-topic fast. I'm sorry for getting a bit off-topic here, but anyway I would really appreciate any competive tips!
Hi, welcome to smogon! If you wish, you can apply for the mentorship program by PMing a mentor from this list, or you could apply to Battling 101 on January 25 when signups open again. Battling 101 will require you to be sufficiently active while Mentorship is more of a casual relation. Hope this helped!

For some help with OU, visit the "OverUsed" room in Showdown. You can learn a lot while other OU veterans discuss the tier. In addition, PM a mentor here and/or visit this thread for some teambuilding help. For tournaments, try out the "Tournaments" room in Showdown, as they host tours regularly. Other rooms also host tournaments every once in a while. Have fun!

If I had to pick a tier it would be OU because I have kind of fallen out of contact with 5th Gen Gpu which I was at one point high ranked in. I'm not very highly ranked in OU mostly because I like to enjoy my matches and make interesting teams more then high ranking (and because of the elitist view held by some of the higher rankers).

If you wish you could sign up for Battling 101, the next round starts on 25th January. Spots fill up quickly, though!
If you wish for an elaboration that smogon's tiering system/what top-level people use isn't "elitist," you should probably read the resources in the OU subforum. The thing is, some Pokemon are inherently better/easier to fit onto teams than others. It's what helps maintain diversity and innovation, as weird as it sounds. Have fun!

I've been playing Pokemon ever since Pokemon Red came out and only skipped the S/W, S/W 2 and X/Y games so far which makes ORAS a very different and exciting experience for me. I have never played competitively before, but feel the urge to do so. My knowledge of competitive gaming is insufficient, though. That's why I came here.
