(Warstory)Undergoing interrogation

Hello again. It's my second war story here. And today, I've decided to use my team that includes only 1st generation pokemon. I have been asked to battle someone by the name of DaHeala. Here are our teams. Mine on top, his team on the bottom.

Notice something that 5/6 of his team has in common?

Standard rules apply. I left out leftovers and poison damage. If an attack would obviously kill, then I also left out the damage.

Fishfox sent out Gengar.
DaHeala sent out Gyarados.
Gyarados' Intimidate cuts Gengar's attack.

Two very common starters square off against each other. He'll probably expect me to bolt or hypnotize. I am however one step ahead and decided to use my next trick for would-be switches.

Gengar is tightening its focus.
Gyarados used Taunt.
Gengar fell for the taunt!
Gengar used Focus Punch.
It's not very effective...
Gyarados lost 9% of its health.
Gengar lost 10% of its health.
Gengar(90%) vs Gyarados(97%)

Hmmm...I'm not too sure what's he playing at. He'd probably be dead if I decided to bolt instead. Now, I'm thinking whether to bolt him or to focus punch on the switch. I decided to go with the latter.

DaHeala switched in Blissey.
Gengar is tightening its focus.
Gengar used Focus Punch.
It's super effective!
Blissey lost 41% of its health.
Gengar lost 10% of its health.
Gengar(80%) vs Blissey(65%)

Oh great...the fat pink whore is out to wall Gengar with -1 attack. Time to switch to someone to kill her.

Fishfox switched in Machamp.
Blissey used Charm.
Machamp's attack harshly fell.
Machamp(100%) vs Blissey(71%)

Charm Bliss, eh? With choice band Machamp still can 2HKO her.

DaHeala switched in Gyarados.
Gyarados' Intimidate cut Machamp's attack.
Machamp used Close Combat.
It's not very effective...
Gyarados lost 13% of it's health.
Machamp's defense and special defense fell.
Machamp(100%) vs Gyarados(87%)

Crap! Machamp is stuck with -3 attack on CC. Gyarados will surely dance. Gengar won't like that, so I make a switch to Blastoise to force Gyara out.

Fishfox switched in Blastoise.
Gyarados used Dragon Dance.
Gyarados' raised its attack and speed.
Blastoise(100%) vs Gyarados(93%)

I forgot about taunt to prevent phasing. After a very long pause, I decided to take a risk and switch back to Gengar.

Fishfox switched in Gengar.
Gyarados used Taunt.
Gengar fell for the taunt!
Gengar(80%) vs Gyarados(99%)

Now problem here is, I'm not sure if I can outrun Gyarados. If I don't outrun him, Gengar will definitely die. If I do outrun him, he should die to bolt. Therefore, I decide to gamble and bolt him.

DaHeala switched in Blissey.
Gengar used Thunder Bolt.
Blissey lost 13% of its health.
Gengar lost 10% of its health.
Gengar(70%) vs Blissey(64%)

Charm Bliss is very very annoying. It means Gengar will never kill her with Focus Punch.

Gengar used Thunder Bolt.
Blissey lost 15% of its health.
Gengar lost 10% of its health.
Blissey used Charm.
Gengar's attack harshly fell.
Gengar(60%) vs Blissey(54%)

Blissey's life is low enough and she's forced to heal. However, if she charms, Machamp will still kill her.

Fishfox switched in Machamp.
Blissey used Soft-boiled.
Blissey regained 46% of its health.
Machamp(100%) vs Blissey(100%)

Die Blissey!

DaHeala switched in Gyarados.
Gyarados' Intimidate cut Machamp's attack.
Machamp used Thunder Punch.
It's super effective!
Gyarados lost 96% of its health.
Machamp(100%) vs Gyarados(9%)

Ahahaha! I predicted he'd switch to Gyarados there. Unfortunately, Intimidate makes TPunch short of OHKO. No point leaving Gyarados barely alive out there, right?

Gyarados used Waterfall.
Machamp lost 30% of its health.
Machamp used Thunder Punch.
It's super effective!
Gyarados fainted!
(6-5 me)
DaHeala sent out Hitmontop.
Hitmontop's intimidate cuts Machamp's attack.

And Machamp draws first blood! So Hitmontop is now sent in to fight Machamp. I don't usually see him around unless it's a UU match.
Anyway, I'll switch back to Gengar to scout him out. With -2 attack, Machamp prolly won't stay in anyway.

Fishfox switched in Gengar.
DaHeala switched in Salamence.
Salamence's intimidate cuts Gengar's attack.

Hmmm...Salamence. Gengar is probably going to die soon anyway, so rather than risk Hypnosis missing, I'll just dish out whatever damage I can to Salamence while scouting its moveset.

Gengar used Shadow Ball.
Salamence lost 52% of its health.
Gengar lost 10% of its health.
Salamence used Draco Meteor.
Gengar fainted!
Salamence's special attack harshly fell.
(5-5)
Fishfox sent out Blastoise.

Great! I see that it's most probably a Specsmence since he didn't lose 10% HP. With -2 SpAttack, Blastoise has no worries coming in. I'll poison the swicth-in.

DaHeala switched in Stantler.
Stantler's intimidate cuts Blastoise's attack.
Blastoise used Toxic.
Stantler was badly poisoned.
Stantler is hurt by poison.
Blastoise(100%) vs Stantler(94%)

WTF is that? Last time I remembered, Stantler is simply an annoyer who attempts parafusion + flinch. After checking his stats I find that Stantler's defenses suck. So, surf it is.

Blastoise used Surf.
Stantler lost 39% of its health.
Stantler used Thunder Bolt.
It's super effective!
Blastoise lost 75% of its health.
Stantler is hurt by poison.
Blastoise(31%) vs Stantler (43%)

That's a total surprise when I see Stantler using Thunder Bolt. And Blastoise did surprisingly pathetic damage to Stantler. Sadly, I have to say goodbye to my most reliable Salamence counter.

Blastoise used Surf.
Stantler lost 41% of its health.
Stantler used Thunder Bolt.
It's super effective!
Blastoise fainted!
Stantler is hurt by poison.
Stantler fainted!
(4-4)
Snorlax is the only one who can take on Salamence.

Fishfox sent out Snorlax.
DaHeala sent out Salamence.
Salamence's intimidate cut Snorlax's attack.

Salamence used Draco Meteor.
Snorlax lost 43% of its health.
Salamence's special attack harshly fell.
Snorlax used Body Slam.
Salamence lost 26% of its health.
Snorlax(63%) vs Salamence(22%)

And with the damage from Shadow Ball previously, I'd beat 'mence. Time for an opportunity to curse.

DaHeala switched in Hitmontop.
Hitmontop's Intimidate cut Snorlax's attack.
Snorlax used Curse.
Snorlax's speed fell; attack and defense rose.
Snorlax(69%) vs Hitmontop(100%)

Damn all those intimidates. I really doubt Snorlax is gonna hurt anything. Fight-resist, hear you come!

Fishfox switched in Venusaur.
Hitmontop used Bulk Up.
Hitmontop's attack and defense rose.
Venusaur vs Hitmontop(both 100%)

Hmm...sleep or seed? I'll go with the former.

DaHeala switched in Arcanine.
Arcanine's Intimidate cut Venusaur's attack.
Venusaur used Sleep Powder.
Arcanine fell asleep.
Venusaur vs Arcanine(both 100%)

Oh yes! Arcanine fell asleep. Without Blastoise, I have a big problem getting rid of Arcanine, so thank god he's asleep. Another plus. I now know of his whole team. None of them resist poison, so, it's time to attack.

DaHeala switched in Blissey.
Venusaur used Sludge Bomb.
Blissey lost 12% of its health.
Blissey was poisoned!
Blissey is hurt by poison.
Venusaur(100%) vs Blissey(82%)

Great! I've poisoned her. Vinnie doesn't care about Charm, so it's sowing time.

Venusaur used Leech Seed.
Blissey was seeded!
Blissey used Seismic Toss.
Venusaur lost 27% of its health.
Leech Seed saps Blissey!
Blissey is hurt by poison.
Venusaur(100%) vs Blissey(64%)

Blissey's Toss fails to damage Vinnie. I sense a switch now, so...I seed again!

DaHeala switched in Hitmontop.
Hitmontop's Intimidate cut Venusaur's attack.
Venusaur used Leech Seed.
Hitmontop was seeded!

DeHeala switched in Blissey.
Venusaur used Leech Seed.
Venusaur's attack missed!

Venusaur used Leech Seed.
Venusaur's attack missed!
Blissey used Softboiled
Blissey regained 37% of its health.

I just edited it in. Sorry I left this part out, I must've missed it while copy-pasting and re-editing the log from Notepad. This part involves some switching around with Leech Seed missing and ultimately Blissey healing. That was why Blissey was at full HP again when she went against Charizard.

DaHeala switched in Arcanine.
Arcanine's Intimidate cuts Venusaur's attack.
Venusaur used Leech Seed.
Arcanine was seeded!
Leech Seed saps Arcanine!
Venusaur(100%) vs Arcanine(88%)

Can't risk Arcanine waking up. So, I switch to Snorlax.

Fishfox switched in Snorlax.
DaHeala switched in Salamence.
Salamence's Intimidate cuts Snorlax's attack.
Snorlax(75%) vs Salamence(22%)

Damn all those intimidates. But at 22% Snorlax should be able to kill it.

Salamence used Draco Meteor.
Critical hit!
Snorlax lost 75% of its health.
Snorlax fainted!
Salamence's special attack harshly fell.
(4-3 opponent)
Fishfox sent out Machamp.

Of course, a critical hit screws things over a bit.
At this point, as long as Arcanine stays asleep, I think Venusaur can pretty much wall out the rest of the team.
However, I send out Machamp as nobody have a safe switch in.

Salamence used Draco Meteor.
Critical hit!
Machamp fainted!
Salamence's special attack harshly fell.
(4-2 opponent)
Fishfox sent out Charizard.

WTF! 2 crits in a row! Time to send out my final pokey. Charizard is mad at the 2 crits.

DaHeala switched in Hitmontop.
Hitmontop's Intimidate cut Charizard's attack.
Charizard used Substitute.
A substitute was created.
Charizard(75%) vs Hitmontop(94%)

Drum-roll time!

Charizard used Belly Drum.
Charizard cut its HP and maxed out attack!
Hitmontop used Stone Edge.
It's super effective.
Charizard's substitute faded.
Charizard's Salac Berry raised its speed.
Charizard(25%) vs Hitmontop(100%)

And Charizard unleashes his wrath onto the opponents.

Charizard used Fire Punch.
Hitmontop lost 100% of its health.
Hitmontop fainted!
(3-2 opponent)

It's in the bag for me now.

DaHeala sent out Arcanine.
Arcanine's Intimidate cut Charizard's attack.
DaHeala switched in Salamence.
Salamence's Intimidate cut Charizard's attack.
Charizard used Earthquake.
It doesn't affect Salamence.

Aaargh! Damn all those intimidates. I guess that's his way of trying to survive now.

DaHeala switched in Arcanine.
Arcanine's Intimidate cut Charizard's attack.
Charizard used Fire Punch.
It's not very effective...
Arcanine lost 60% of its health.

Arcanine is still 2HKO'd. Maybe he should've used Flash Fire over Intimidate.

Arcanine is fast asleep...
Charizard used Fire Punch.
Arcanine fainted!
(2-2)
DaHeala sent out Blissey.

I sensed an Extremespeed there. Luckily the dog's sleeping. With all those intimidates, I'm not sure if I can kill Blissey.

Charizard used Fire Punch.
Blissey lost 96% of its health.
Blissey used Seismic Toss.
Charizard fainted.
(2-1)
Fishfox sent out Venusaur.

Charizard is gone, but nevertheless, victory is mine!

Venusaur used Sludge Bomb.
Blissey fainted.
(1-1)
DeHeala sent out Salamence.
Salamence's Intimidate cut Venusaur's attack.

It all boils down to whether Draco Meteor crits or not.

Salamence used Draco Meteor.
Venusaur lost 85% of its health.
Venusaur used Sludge Bomb.
Salamence fainted!
Fishfox wins!

Props:
Machamp for getting rid of Gyarados.
Venusaur for being great in the latter part of this match, and also for sleeping Arcanine.
Charizard being able wipe out most of their team.

Slops:
Blastoise for failing to damage Stantler, and dying to it.
Losing 2 pokemon to crits.
Snorlax barely did anything too.

I didn't think the comments were very insightful or the battle all that interesting, but I'm also the guy who doesn't really care at all for theme-teams.

Stantler may have been Spex'd, as there was recently a thread praising Stantler as this UU Spex king. Gotta look outside the box when seeing things like Stantler in a OU battle.

I thought it was a pretty good warstory. The intimidate strategy is pretty annoying to deal with. Good job on the win. Hope to hear more from you.

Wow! A charm Bliss and 5 intimidators, that's gotta suck for any physical hitter. Luckily you managed to overcome it. Nice to see Venusaur getting some action.

Oh man when I saw the first round of him switching g-dos into champ I had a feeling the next time he tried that he was gonna just get pulverized by a t-punch, lo' and behold, you nailed him.

The battle was interesting for sure, I thought both teams were pretty cool. Comments were a C+, but the battle was fun.
