GSC predictions (not going to comment on my own):
HSA vs. KratosMana - The winner of the GSC UU Cup and the GSC NU Cup is very hard to bet against. You don't get called GSC LOWER TIER KING HSA for nothing.
Earthworm vs. xJoelituh - Joel is OK but his strongest UU tier is ADV, whereas the pirate has voyaged across what seems to be every corner of the tier and has undoubtedly found some buried treasures.
Sinkyr vs. kaori - Kaori is the more well known and experienced player, having played this tier in the last UUPL. I actually played him at this tier kinda recently (albeit in a room tour lol), so I have a decent idea about him. Sinkyr on the other hand is a fresh face to both the UU and old gens community, like myself, that I have battled with recently (though not at GSC UU). I know he has an interest in the GSC lower tiers, so it will be interesting to see what he comes up with.

Monsters v Youngsters
SM: Pearl v Mana - Hate to predict against Mana since I think he's a huge threat in UU, but he got a super tough matchup this week. Closer than I think people will assume, though.
SM: Poek v FLCL - Poek's a monster in UU, especially with Pearl backing. I predict he'll have the best SM record this whole tour.
SM: Eyan v Lopunny Kicks - I actually rate Lop Kicks pretty high overall in UU, he's a strong player and he stays active in the tier.
SM: Osh v elodin - You can't buy Osh without SANJAY wtf Pearl
ORAS: Garay oak v Eternal Spirit - Who the hell let Gama go for 4.5k... Anyhow he's a stronger player and ict's a top ORAS UU builder so easy pick.
BW: craing ;_; v choolio - Not gonna predict against choolio, but I hope he gets BP'd and loses as just desserts for claiming BP is balanced in BW.
DPP: august v Gilbert arenas - :trust:
ADV: col49 v Sam I Yam - Sam's actually a beast in adv and anti + ict is about the best support he could ask for, but I predict this week he stays in his comfort zone and col brings something funky that breaks his usual stuff.
GSC: HSA v KratosMana - Highlight GSC match this whole UUPL.
Bo3: TDK v ict - TDK takes SM, ict wins on ORAS/BW.

Friends v Idols
SM: CBU v HT - CBU the threat......
SM: vivalospride v yeezyknows - I think yeezy's a stronger player, but if viv gets a little lucky there's like a 30% chance it tilts yeezy into losing the match.
SM: Moutemoute v Charmflash - I think? I dunno. Moutemoute's avatars sometimes make me feel uncomfortable so I'm just gonna say that Charmflash will win this one.
SM: His v Manipulative - Memes aside Manip's actually decent at UU when he doesn't second guess himself.
ORAS: dingbat v Teddeh - I think dingbat can take it, especially if Teddeh keeps just recycling small variations on the same three ORAS teams, but Teddeh's a top 3 ORAS UU player and I think he'll come out on top.
BW: FUMA HI-FI v Chill Shadow - I think CS's performance will come down to team support; I think he's one of the better players in BW UU but I don't know that he really builds much? That might have changed in the past couple of years.
DPP: Donphantastic v fatty - Don is a DPP UU fiend
ADV: amber lamps v Mazz - I don't think the veteran's gonna be able to pull this one out...
GSC: Sinkyr v kaori - I guess? I know absolutely nothing about Sinkyr and kaori seemed pretty decent at the tier last year.
Bo3: lax v Shiba - Could honestly go either way, especially if it comes down to BW and Shiba brings rain.

Doctors v Rangers
SM: Amane Misa v Lycans - lol just kidding this game isn't gonna happen between Misa's crazy schedule and Lycans's two and a half hours of internet a day. If it does, though, Lycans takes it.
SM: Adaam v Gondra - I think Gondra's pretty good at SM UU but Adaam's on a tear lately.
SM: SilvioGuacamole v Indigo Plateau - Kind of a coin flip, Silvio isn’t bad but IP takes it.
SM: Amukamara v Jarii - Jarii is heat in SM
ORAS: Highways v Wanka - Wanka's gonna push hard to break top 3 ORAS UU now that poor Rodri is out
BW: mael v Hikari - Jesus someone apparently doesn't read the news. Hikari is gonna get subbed out and mael will win vs whoever comes in.
DPP: BKC v Kushalos - Glad to see BKC playing DPP this year. Predicting Kush to lose this week but end with the best overall DPP record at the end of the regular season.
ADV: Finding True Love v Raichy - FTL has kicked my ass at ADV UU enough that I can't predict against him. Bring your Lanturn counters.
GSC: Diophantine v alive - Never seen either of these two play GSC UU, should be interesting. Diophantine seems to have better team support but I don't really want to predict this one with zero info.
Bo3: robjr v Accelgor - Close one. rob's on fire right now but Accel is a king in BW UU, so if this goes to three games he wins this.

Good luck to everyone this week. Especially looking forward to seeing what new techs people bring out in GSC UU.

Even though you predict against the Friends, your comments for games that you predict for us are like "Donphantastic is a UU fiend" and the games against us are "Moutemoute's avatars sometimes make me feel uncomfortable." I think you clearly favor us. The Friends have friendship the Idols have false idolatry...

SM Predicts!!

Mikan Island Monsters vs. Route 30 Youngsters

SM UU: Pearl (70) vs. (30) Mana: Mana feels like something of a lamb to the slaughter this week and Pearl is pretty strongly favoured here, coming off the back of a strong SPL. However Pearl also has ORAS tiebreakers to contend with this week and Mana has an extremely high skill ceiling, so this isn't exactly a done deal.
SM UU: Poek (60) vs. (40) FLCL: Poek had a ridiculous UUPL last time around and, reunited with Pearl support, I can for sure see him doing the same again. FLCL is an extremely stern test for week 1, however, as I've got no idea how much UU Poek has played in the last year.
SM UU: Eyan (45) vs. (55) Lopunny Kicks: Punny with seems to be decently up to date on UU, and I've seen him UUing in one or two smaller discord tours over the last couple of months. Eyan's a solid week one opponent, who seems to have much more support in terms of building than there is on the youngsters, so this could for sure go either way.
SM UU: Osh (40) vs. (60) elodin: I'm very high on Osh's playing ability in general and he's shown he can pick up tiers quickly and do well in RUWC and Slam, but elodin is far from an easy warmup game. elodin qualified for Champs 16th poff and seems generally up to date with UU, putting up some pretty nice results throughout last season. elodin brings a fat spikes build and wins.

Goldenrod City Grunts vs. Blackthorn City Battle Girls

SM UU: HarrisIsAwesome (51) vs. (49) Kory2600: going with Harris here, but not by a lot. I know Harris is super motivated this tour and is coming into his own as a builder after a disappointing SPL, so I'm backing him to put up a good record in SM. Kory, on the other hand, seems to be relatively engaged with UU, laddering and playing in some French team tour if I'm not stupid. This match should be close, but Harris takes it for me (as long as he packs his Mienshao counterplay)
SM UU: McMeghan (75) vs. (25) Bouff: This one's relatively straightforward in my eyes, Roro is Roro and I don't think I've ever seen Bouff play UU. Only way I can really see Roro losing is if he brings some sort of Omastar build or a random Silvally type but hey, we've seen it before.
SM UU: Eternally (51) vs. (49) Amaroq: Honestly don't have a clue with this one, haven't seen Amaroq play for a long time and while Eternally's obviously a solid player, I don't know how much he keeps up with UU. Cynde + Harris + Roro support tips this one slightly in Eternally's favour for me.
SM UU: Freeroamer (60) vs. (40) itsjustdrew: Roamer is, in my opinion, a better player with more experience at this level. However, drew's motivation for this tour will be through the roof and he has a literal army of SM builders behind him. As long as roamer's aggressive I think he'll be able to outplay here, but drew is still a threat, especially with a favourable matchup.

Friend Safari Pokemon Trainers vs. Iki Town Idols

SM UU: CBU (49) vs. (51) HT: I'd like to bold CBU here, and this matchup is a lot closer than the others but HT got some nice wins over SPL and is obviously up to date on the UU meta. I feel like his style also matches up relatively well versus CBU. HT wins if he brings Coba, CBU wins if not.
SM UU: vivalospride (35) vs. (65) yeezyknows: Really excited to see what yeezy's gonna come up with this tour, after his great Masters run he's becoming a big threat. Viv/whatever he's calling himself now could potentially cheese a win here, and yeezy's going to be scared of webs, but I see him as the more solid player and as long as he doesn't get hard counterteamed he probably takes this. oh and if you bring that nihili/bish/stoise/gligar/ape squad I'm disowning you
SM UU: Moutemoute (40) vs. (60) Charmflash: Za is a pretty nifty in SM UU and has put up some decent results over the last couple of months, while 10k Moute x2 is still waiting for a big breakout tour. Moute definitely has the advantage, however in terms of metagame engagement, and is a more prolific builder so I can for sure see him picking up a good matchup in this one.
SM UU: His (25) vs. (75) Manipulative: I've never heard of His and Manip's very good if he doesn't implode so big edge I guess.

Indigo Plateau and I will be playing at 3:30 GMT - 4 this Saturday, LETS GO DOCTORS!

What's just another UUPL for everyone else is the Friends' time to shine. A team of 20 underdogs is bound to have at least one player who is underrated by everyone, and it just takes a few wins to get morale soaring.

Prediction: The Friends take this round, and all subsequent rounds. All other pairings are irrelevant.
