Heatran takes advantage of its great defensive typing to set up a Substitute and makes it extremely annoying to defeat. Toxic is the key move on this set as it allows Heatran to wear down Pokemon such as Keldeo and Zygarde that likes to switch in against it. Magma Storm allows Heatran to use its Fire STAB to scare out Steel-types that is immune to Poison while Earth Power allows Heatran to nail opposing Heatran, Nihilego and Alolan Marowak.
