Checks: Granbull and Sableye
Counters: Gligar and Cofragrigus
Sniped...also, slashed Dazzling Gleam over Psychic as an option to beat Honchkrow, I forgot that moveAssault Vest Goodra Asa counter
Umen Berker's post won't count unless he change the check/counterShould the two Goodra entries be merged? Both of them are assault vest Goodra sets, and they say almost the same thing.
Deleted it myself. Damn Snipers, I'm on mobile you heartless b*stards. The second post was likely started and completed while I was trying to copy paste calcs. Oh wellUmen Berker's post won't count unless he change the check/counter
You can reservate the Pokémon and finish the post laterDeleted it myself. Damn Snipers, I'm on mobile you heartless b*stards. The second post was likely started and completed while I was trying to copy paste calcs. Oh well
I talked with Lord Esche and we both agree on this, community involvement is nice but I think it's a fairer let we decide this so will work like this:Randomnick I heavily recommend using the same method as the last two victim of the week threads in RU. Basically there is no voting phase and you yourself picked the best counters you thought were viable (at the time we picked 3 each for checks and counters), and if there are niche ones that still work, or more counters/checks that are as good as the 3 picked, then a special mention is made for them. Voting phase does nothing but clutter the thread and a good mon might be left out :[
Is there any possibility this could be done with a rotating set of judges from the active members of the community? So as to keep the opinions varied and try and minimize the effect of any personal bias you two may have (obviously minimize not completely remove, as that's impossible)To be a little more precise about this decision: This project aims to find the best/most effective checks and counters to a given threat at the current state of the metagame. This should be done as objectively as possible to give players, who may look into this thread as a resource to improve their building/playing capability, the most accurate answer to "How do I deal with this or that threat?", but also to "What checks/counters this or that threat the best?". Keep in mind that, even though creativity is appreciated, it will play a role whether a submitted set has an actual place in the metagame. We will strive to provide a short explanation as to why a certain set was picked to represent a good counter/check to the respective victim of the week. This is not to say our decisions will not be influenced by our own subjectivity - this would be impossible to achieve - but we do believe that it is a step forward to have the hosts debate about the submissions and reflect upon their effectiveness instead of leaving it to an open voting phase, which we consider to be less objective. If necessary we will consult other knowledgeable RU players to give their thoughts on the submissions.
TLDR; Randomnick and I agreed to discuss our thoughts of the submitted entries at the end of every week and come to a resonable conclusion from there.
You don't need a rotating council for this kind of thread. You just need 1 or more people who know the difference between valid check/counters and atrocious meme sets. This is not some suspectthread kinda situation so the opinion of 2 guys who i assume have plenty of knowledge of the tier definitely suffice. Is there any possibility this could be done with a rotating set of judges from the active members of the community? guan123 you probably didn't read the rules, but it says you are allowed to choose one check or one counter, this mean no Golbat, sorryShould the two Goodra entries be merged? Both of them are assault vest Goodra sets, and they say almost the same thing.
So this isn't a one-liner, I am reserving Golbat as a check.
Golbat @ Eviolite
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Brave Bird
- Roost
- Defog
- Toxic
This can switch into any of Shaymin's moves (yes, including psychic) although it cannot switch in on a -2 SpD drop.
252 SpA Life Orb Shaymin Psychic vs. 252 HP / 176+ SpD Eviolite Golbat: 133-159 (37.5 - 44.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
Meanwhile, Golbat can toxic and roost off the damage. It can also brave bird if needed. The problem with brave bird is its recoil damage.
Edit: Natural cure means Shaymin will switch out of toxic. It still fears Brave Bird, though.
