Why are trick room teams suddenly so popular in this generation or Is it just me? I don't remember them being nearly as prominent in gen 7 or gen 6, is there some sort of reason for that?(no hate to trick room teams or anything just asking)

There are always fases of prominent teams. If it trick room now then eventually people will build lots of checks into their teams and trick room prominence will decline. Players are always looking to evolve the game to stay ahead
I remember in gen7 and 8 lots of great trick room teams and at different times it being more or less popular than before
