Hi smogon I am here today to share with you a team I have used to considerable success on the Pokemon showdown ultra sun and moon overused ladder attaining a 78 gxe and surpassing 1700 elo. I call this team triangle because it has three sides and that's unironically right around the highest I could get 3 years ago, hope you enjoy! I knew I wanted to build around Chansey on sticky webs, a playstyle considered far less effective without zygarde in the tier. Now Chansey offense is not something foreign to me, I have used it on voltturn as a laddering crutch for months now, but in order to truly open my mind to other playstyles I decided the most logical option would be incorporating it my webs team. Many people would scoff at the use of Chansey outside of hardstall, and it is generally by Pokemon that is disliked by the competitive community due to its immense bulk but it provides a valuable niche as I will dive into.

Ribombee (F) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Shield Dust
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sticky Web
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Defog
- Moonblast
The first Pokemon I chose to build around was ribombee as I wanted to try it out seeing as I've never used it before. Sticky webs allow threats on my team to thrive and puts a damper on the likes of mega lopunny which would otherwise be a massive threat. Moonblast is chosen for stab and aids in killing things like the aforementioned lopunny and other Pokemon like hawlucha if you can keep rocks off. HP fire nukes sciz, ferro, kart. Defog allows me to remove their tspikes or potential spikestack.

Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature

Mega garchomp is the next chosen Pokemon, simply put I've never used it this gen and wanted to try it out, so far so good as the mixed set has little solid defensive counterplay and can rip through typical lando + tran BO builds with adequate prediction. Fire blast nails skarmory, ferrothorn, scizor and gives you a fighting chance vs steela. Outrage allows me to surprise kill things that feel comfortable after chomp is -2 from Draco. Sometimes its best to hold off on megaing as rough skin chip can be nice as well as the speed for things if webs arent up think medicham, kyub.

EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe

Finally, onto the queen. Chansey provides my team with stealth rock and healing wish support as well as a sponge vs Koko, gren zardy, choiced blace, lele, magearna, etc thanks fo it's fantastic bulk. Not much more to say healing wish is honestly clutch as fuck as giving magearna another chance to sweep is lethal or reviving a statused mega chomp can really aid vs certain fatter builds. 16 speed outpaces banded crawdaunt w webs up as well as other shit like bulky fini, spdef tran, nonmaxspeed bandtar, mmaw.
Greninja (M) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe

Protean Greninja is chosen next as it gives me a psychic immunity causing specs Lele to have to contemplate what to click as either gren or the mighty Chansey will get a free switchin (no one hits focus). Spikes are braindead and let me pressure bulkier builds or chip things like av gear in range of my magearna. The coverage is pretty standard, nailing grounds w ice beam, fairies like bulu and most notably fini with gunk and smacking things that aren't phased the aforementioned coverage such as ttar, heatran, ferrothorn with low kick.

Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Magearna is the reason I've win most of the time, the set chosen smacks up a ton of builds and especially w spike chip and tornt luring shit can be especially lethal late game and when given a second chance by Chansey it's not too hard to see how someone could lose to this dogshit. Being walled by pex is unfortunate but other than that this shit goes in. Steel/fairy is also nice as fuck for taking on things like tornadus, weavile, etc. If focus blast had 100% accuracy this mon would be banned without a doubt.

LO tornadus is a Pokemon I've wanted to use for quite a while. HP ice catches so many cocky offensive Landos, rockium or mega chomps off guard while nailing gliscor and 2hkoing zap w rocks up. Superpower smacks ttar and chips heatran into gear range. Taunt stops healing and also prevents suicide lead lando from getting up the rocks so ribombee can keep it's sash in tact for lucha. Air slash is chosen because hurricane is fucking dogshit and unreliable as all hell and flinching down things is heat. HP and defense investment let u live pinsirs +2 quick attack after rocks at full, speed for scarfzone to hit w superpower, alternately u could run enough for scarftar but who uses that shit plus it sacrifices spat which is needed for landos and chomps as they do have a small chance to live and it becomes more substantial the more u take out of it.
Threat list:
-Toxapex: this thing walls everything bar chomp and gets up tspikes which is usually a loss
-Celesteela: leeches everything to hell and back can't kill w/o them trying to 1v1 chomp, Chansey donates them health too :o(
-Rain: specifically mega pert is massively gay as it can flinch through Chansey, if you want you can run counter over rocks to catch them off guard and rocks over outrage on chomp
-Scizor: like most HO teams scizor is a massive threat and this one is no different, try to keep chomp healthy and maybe u can pull a win out ur ass
-TR cofag: shoutouts to the one chad who managed to beat me w this on ladder I got sauced lmao
-Hawlucha: if the rocks go up or ribombees sash breaks and they aren't a total moron or u dodge then gg

Conclusion: usum is pretty bad (and the community doesnt help it either) there's too much stuff you need to account for and random matchup mons like volcarona, zards, the right prot gren set, etc not to mention other bullshit clicker mons like medicham as well as so much other forms of cheese out there make it easier to fish for matchup wins which aside from serious outplaying is how you're going to be winning w this team, if at all: by magearna sweeping or plowing through w prot gren or maybe a surprise kill w tornt or of course them not being able to kill the great and powerful chansey.
