RPs
The beautiful city of Alto Mare. It is a city of canals and museums adored by tourists around the world. Some years ago, members of Team Rocket tried to take over an experimental defense system that guarded this town, but they were stopped dead in their tracks before too long. Now, the dust has settled from that commotion, and daily life has returned to normal here in this beautiful city.

Recently however, there have been reports of elusive and rare Pokemon that are said to stalk the city. Locals say that these Pokemon are the guardians of the city, but they seem to be unusually active for this time of year. Something seems to be stirring in this city, and after hearing the rumors, you have decided to investigate these claims of mirage Pokemon for yourself.
You searched. You searched for days.

Yet despite your persistence at trying to find the legendary Pokemon, they remained frustratingly elusive. The locals clearly were not kidding when they called the Pokemon mirages. Eventually you are forced to admit defeat, and decide to use what hotel days you have left to have fun in this city while you are still here.

Your adventure takes you to the beach, where a game of volleyball quickly heats up among some of the locals. Thinking that the game will be fun, you decide to join in, to the delight of the locals. However, you soon end up in a rather sticky situation. During one of your serves, you launch the ball a little too hard, and it shoots off into the ocean...directly into a Kingdra's face! Alarmed, the locals run away, and you find yourself staring down a very angry Kingdra and its brood, and you find yourself forced to defend yourself from the Kingdra's children.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Nest Encounter with three Seadra

Arena: Alto Mare Coast
Having dispatched the angry water Pokemon, you head back towards town, only to realize a distressing fact, the exhibition water race you signed up for earlier in the day is starting in five minutes. Not having the time to get to the Pokemon Center beforehand, and figuring you will not run into any trouble during a race, you run over to the signups, and take your position.

The race was a beautiful tour of the city of Alto Mare. While you fail to take first place in the competition, you do manage to get second place...after plowing through some of your competitors in the process! When you get to the podium to accept your trophy, a Quilfish and a Barbacle come up to you and start to protest! You find yourself needing to answer their complaints.

Player Options:
a) Apologize to the Barbacle
b) Apologize to the Quilfish
c) Gloat after your victory

IF "Apologize to the Barbacle"

You let the Barbacle know that you are sorry for bumping into it, and it decides to forgive you and leave. However, before you are able to apologize to the Quilfish, it thinks that you are snubbing it, and leaves in a huff. Hopefully it will not have any hard feelings about this.

Before you can think about your next move, a man comes rushing through the crowd and says "Help! Team Rocket has invaded the museum!" Immediately, you rush off towards the museum, bent on stopping whatever it is they are planning.

[REF NOTE] Begin the Guardian Battle with 1 Layer of Spikes on the player's side of the field. These entry hazards cannot be removed by any means.

IF "Apologize to the Quilfish"

You let the Quilfish know that you are sorry for bumping into it, and it decides to forgive you and leave. However, before you are able to apologize to the Barbacle, it thinks that you are snubbing it, and leaves in a huff. Hopefully it will not have any hard feelings about this.

Before you can think about your next move, a man comes rushing through the crowd and says "Help! Team Rocket has invaded the museum!" Immediately, you rush off towards the museum, bent on stopping whatever it is they are planning.

[REF NOTE] Begin the Guardian Battle with Stealth Rock on the player's side of the field. These entry hazards cannot be removed by any means.

IF "Gloat after your victory"

You decide that you do not have to take any guff from these two Pokemon, and decide to rub it in their faces. During your gloating though, you hear a loud roar from far behind them! You look up, and are surprised to see a very angry Gyarados glaring at you. It seems you rammed into him during the race as well, and a black-clad trainer near the Gyarados says "Oh yeah, you think you're so tough? Let me battle you and I'll teach you a lesson in respect!" Reluctantly, you agree to battle this mysterious trainer. Weirdly, the Gyarados seems to have some kind of machinery on it, but you brush this fact aside for now

[REF NOTE] Begin the Guardian Battle with Stealth Rock and 1 Layer of Spikes on the player's side of the field. Initiate Rare Encounter with Gyarados

Arena: Alto Mare Canals

With the Gyarados [felled/captured], you suddenly realize that the trainer next to it was no trainer at all, but a member of Team Rocket who had controlled the Gyarados with some kind of machine! The townspeople chase him away towards the museum, and you follow in hot pursuit.

IF No Pokemon fainted

Just as you are about to give chase, you notice that the grunt dropped something. Upon examination, it was a Hyper Potion, which you gleefully put into your pocket.

[REF NOTE] Add 1x Hyper Potion to the player's backpack
Upon arriving at the museum, you decide to try and breach the place through the front entrance. At first, your efforts do not succeed, it seems that Team Rocket has barricaded the front door. However, this does not stop you for long, as somebody, presumably staff at the museum, opens a side entrance and waves at you to come through it. You quickly oblige, and find yourself in the east wing of the museum.

The museum itself is a beautiful historic landmark, full of entertaining exhibits under old world architecture. Normally, you would take in the beauty of the place, but you have a job to do, so you head through an oceanic exhibit. No sooner do you enter though than a [Tentacruel/Volkraken] breaks out of one of the cases and grabs [Pokemon with lowest HP] with their tentacles. Once your Pokemon is in their clutches, they [wrap themselves in an Aqua Ring/blast your Pokemon with a Lava Plume], then [appear to clone themselves with Double Team/wrap your Pokemon in a Fire Spin]. You attempt to follow, but the enemy Pokemon has pulled up a wall of water to stop you in your tracks. It seems it will require two rounds for the water wall to dissipate.

[REF NOTE] Roll a d2 to determine whether the trap is Volkraken (1) or Tentacruel (2). Initiate either a Volkraken trap with Lava Plume and Fire Spin, or a Tentacruel trap with Aqua Ring and Double Team (2 Clones).

Arena: Aquatic Exhibit
After dealing with the watery trap, you make your way to the central chamber. Once there, you see the members of Team Rocket attempting to repair some kind of spherical thing in the center of the room. You grimly realize that the device is the Defense Mechanism, which caused so much trouble to this city years ago. Just when you're about to intervene, a couple of Rocket Grunts show up to try and stop you. You draw out your team to try and stop them, but then you hear a whirring sound coming from the center of the room. It appears they have somehow activated the mechanism ahead of schedule!

Luckily, the device does not seem to be fully functional, perhaps due to them using some kind of crude battery to power it, but it does seem functional enough to revive an Aerodactyl and a Tyrantrum that were on exhibit to send at you. Worse, the Rocket Grunts seem to be sending out a horde of Anorith to take you down. It appears that you are in for a rough fight.

[REF NOTE] Initiate Guardian Encounter with Aerodactyl and Tyrantrum. Horde Anorith spawn at the end of every other round, beginning at the end of Round 2.

Arena: Prehistoric Exhibit
After successfully defeating the ancient Pokemon, the device malfunctions and has several explosions. You start to celebrate, but then the spherical part of the device charges with electricity and hurtles towards you.

Player Options:
a) Run away

Naturally, you do what anybody in your situation would do, run! You and your Pokemon run down a very long hallway, slanted slightly downwards just for inconveniences' sake. The run take a very long time to end, but you finally see the exit, and make a mad dash for it. The device runs right past you and into a convenient gorge, never to inconvenience anyone again. However, your Pokemon are incredibly tired after all of that running.

[REF NOTE] Deduct 35 EN from all active Pokemon

b) Try to push back the device

Only a coward would run away from a challenge like this! You and your Pokemon stand your ground and attempt to push it back. However, this is a task easier said than accomplished, as the electricity on the device damages you and your Pokemon, and takes a lot of energy to stop. You end up being pushed back down a very long hallway for what seems like an eternity. Then, just as you are about to be pushed into a gorge, your Pokemon are able to stop the device, and dispose of it safely. Beaten and bruised, but alive, you celebrate your victory.

[REF NOTE] Deduct 15 HP and 15 EN from all active Pokemon
After avoiding the deadly debris of the device, you breath a sigh of relief. However, it appears that during your travels, you have stumbled upon what seems to be some kind of secluded forest. Strange, Alto Mare is not supposed to have any large forests of note. You attempt to find your way through this forest, but it seems that you have gotten lost. However, you are not able to contemplate how to get out of this mess for long, as suddenly some of the trees go in to attack!

[REF NOTE] Roll a d8:
1: 3 Exeggutor-A
2-4: 2 Exeggutor-A, 2 Exeggutor
5-7: 1 Exeggutor-A, 2 Exeggutor
8: 3 Exeggutor
Initiate a Nest Encounter with the result.

Arena: Living Thicket
With the living trees dealt with, you breathe a sigh of relief, and start to move on. You still do not know where you are going, but you do hear water nearby. You move to the source of the water, only to uncover an amazing sight. The water is coming from an elaborate fountain system from a large, marble-lined garden. You take a few moments to admire the beauty of the place, yet you are still baffled as to where you are exactly.

After a few minutes, you finally notice a large, blue gem atop the fountain. Somehow, the gem seems to be somewhat familiar, but you cannot tell from where. Still, you get a nagging feeling that you should touch the gem.

Player Options:
a) Grab the Gem
b) Leave the Gem alone

Suddenly, you hear rustling in the nearby bushes. Thinking it to be more bad news, you ready your Pokemon, but what comes out astonishes you. Two Pokemon, one red, and one blue, come out of the thicket. Then it hits you, these are the Pokemon, Latias and Latios, that you were looking for from the onset of your trip! The two Pokemon seem to give you their gratitude, but then one of them perks up at the sight of your own Pokemon. Both Eon Pokemon give you a look that tells you that they are grateful enough for helping out the town to offer you a challenge. Instinctively, you accept their challenge, and they take up fighting positions!

[REF NOTE] Initiate Boss Encounter with Latias and Latios
