Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 200 Def / 56 Spe
Impish Nature
- Spikes
- Spiky Shield / Synthesis
- Leech Seed
- Wood Hammer / Hammer Arm
Moves:
-Spikes is one of the main reasons to use Chesnaught. It can easily find the time to set up multiple layers of Spikes, which punishes constant switching and helps push some moves over the edge from a 3HKO to a 2HKO or from a 2HKO to an OHKO. They can be a pain to remove for some teams, especially when a remover doesn't have realiable recovery. For teams without removal, Spikes can prove fatal.
-Spiky Shield an improved protect, and Chesnaught can use it similarly to how Ferrothron does: to gain more health from Leftovers and Leech Seed. It also makes attackers hesitant to use a contact move for fear of damaging themselves, and is very useful for finishing weakened attackers.
-Synthesis is reliable recovery, simple as that. However, it suffers from rain, sand, and hail and therefore is not always so reliable. Chesnaught usually doesn't need it however, as it can receive Wishes and stall with Leech Seed for more health.
-Leech Seed is a very annoying move. It will slowly drain a targets HP and give it to Chesnaught, and is tough to have when attempting to wallbreak. Very useful in a variety of situations and a staple.
-Wood Hammer is standard coverage that nails the Water-types of the tier hard, and is powerful.
-Hammer Arm can be used as an alternative if recoil is not desirable, and helps Kyurem, Mega Scizor and Heatran much harder
Set Details: Speed is increased to outspeed Alomomola, Adamant Shedinja, and Mega Scizor but standard 252 / 252 / 4 can be used if desired. The main investment is in bulk which lets it take physical hits very well and shrug them off. Bulletproof is a great ability that allows it to take hits from Amoongus, Mega Venusaur, Mismagius, Roserade, and Haunter. Chesnaught is a great answer to rain teams that are common in the tier as well as Mega Gyrados (lacking Bounce), Mega Sharpedo, Haunter (lacking Dazzling Gleam or Sludge Wave), Tentacruel, Victreebel, Ferrothorn, and Breloom. It synergizes well with the bulky Water-types that reside in the Tier, a good example being Alomomola which can pass it Wishes.
