The Gauntlet IV

We all play a game where Pokemon faint and then are later revived to fight again in another battle. Consider, though, what it would be like if the game were a little darker? A little less forgiving? A little more deadly? This tournament attempts to recreate that scenario on PS by building up its own banlist for individual players based on who they let faint - or "die" - in each round.

Tournament Rules
  • This is exclusively an ORAS OU tournament.
  • General tournament rules and regulations can be found here.
  • Best of 1 | Single Elimination
  • Battles should take place on either the PS (main) or Smogtours servers.
  • Do not make baseless activity posts, get in contact with your opponent and report missed times / scheduling issues only.

Non-Standard Rules:
  • Each Pokemon that faints on your team in any round of the tournament can never be used on any of your teams for the rest of the tournament. The Pokemon that you cannot use will be publicly listed for your opponents to see and build their teams around.
    • i.e. In Round 1 you win the match, but lose a Clefable and a Heatran. Both of these Pokemon can no longer be used by you in the second round or any future rounds, should you make it further.
  • Replays/Logs are REQUIRED submission for the WINNER - ONLY post in this thread please. No need to PM me because your personal 'banlist' will be public in every single round anyways; so it's not possible to 'hide' what Pokemon you are not permitted to use. Also posting in the thread with your win post makes it a lot easier on me to keep track of all of this information.
    • If I find that fake replays/logs are being submitted in order to avoid losing certain mons or any planning with your opponent whatsoever takes part; it will all be reported to the TD team so please don't. It's just an unofficial anyways :(
  • Signups will be 50 first-come first-serve sign ups. I will then hand pick personally the last 14 according to who I believe is best fit for the final positions. I don't want lazy users and after seeing all the tours (mine included) recently full of activity/coinflip wins I feel this is fair :)
    • If this goes to 96 I'll make it so the first 75 are first-come first-serve and pick the remainder [21] myself.
    • If this goes to 128 I'll do 100 first-come first-serve and pick the remainder [28] myself.
Rounds will last one week apiece with the possible exception of Round 1 lasting two weeks (in case this hits 128+). I won't be too strict on round deadlines, because building a team is a new experience every round (provided you don't 6-0). I encourage everybody to post when they are active and ready to play so that I can gauge activity at the end of the round. Otherwise, unfinished match advancements will be decided by coin flips.

im gonna have to call activity. unless DragonGold123 can play before 12:00 pm today. he said he was not going to play on sunday and saturday due to christmas break. And now its wednesday. and i have been searching for him on main and on smogtours everyday.

Spoke to a TD since there is a clear lack of interest from certain parties in this tour (to the point where this isn't even proper contact between opps nor are >50% of entrants even asking for an act win), and instead of calling the tour dead and killing it I'm going to try something else. (just had to check that I'm allowed to do this lol)

I'm going to check activity for this round and subsequently cut those who are clearly showing no interest whatsoever in this tour. The winners + remainder will be formed into the Round 4 bracket with the rest just being removed. From there on I assume the tour will be smooth sailing!

I will however notify (by tagging) those who are going to be kicked, and allow 1-2 days for people to prove their activity if necessary. If they can prove a genuine interest in this tour/attempts at trying to battle then they will be re-added and part of R4.

Those of you who have tried to battle/have battled have nothing to worry about.

I'll get the list done by tonight and post here (along with obvious act wins).
