So, a while ago, I posted a
team I had made for fun involving an infestation encore destiny bond banette-mega, with pawmot revival blessing to support. The team certainly received a response, which cumlinated in a pokeaim video and mega banette rising to ou, becoming the 2nd most used mega overall, sitting at no. 26 on usage. After all, every great performance deserves an encore, so I went back into the lab to show you this amazing team
ANTAGONISTIC @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock
- Defog
John smogon makes his grand appearance once again, just an all around phenomal glue mon. U turn is also incredible on this guy for reasons I'll get into soon. Rocks and fog are self explanatory, I'd love to fit them somewhere else but I just can't spare the slot for it. I'm using this over gliscor as I want intimidate more, and have stronger earthquakes is very nice to have
DESPICABLE @ Banettite
Ability: Frisk
Tera Type: Dark
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SpA
Brave Nature
IVs: 0 HP / 0 Def / 0 SpD / 0 Spe
- Destiny Bond
- Infestation
- Encore
- Knock Off
Yeah, the goat's back. Same set as last time, although everything's investest into atk and spa so it's as fragile as possible. Min speed is really good, since it allows you to set up dbond locks on more pokemon. I'm still running knock over poltergeist as knock is just more consistent, as well as being able to remove items in a pinch is a great option to have
DISHEARTENING @ Leppa Berry
Ability: Volt Absorb
Tera Type: Flying
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Mach Punch
- Close Combat
- Revival Blessing
- Double Shock
Everyone's favorite pikaclone, although this time in ultra hd! Again people often forget that this guy has 115 base attack and a solid speed stat, so it's very capable of cleaning house once certain threats are dealt with. I'm running tera flying as while electric was funny, it was often uneeded and I'd rather have the option to live an extra hit to get that last cheeky rblessing in. Another note I'd like to add is how this pokemon just turns off people's brains on ladder. Once your wincon dies, I've seen at least 3 people just sac their check to it because in their mind it can't come back.
SPAWN OF SATAN @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 40 HP / 216 Def / 252 SpD
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Toxic
- Flip Turn
Hey, I heard this pokemon was pretty good. Provides insane longlevity to everything else on the team, just make sure to play careful around waterpon switchins. Dropped scald for protect as I was never clicking scald to begin with. The evs let you get 3hkod by non-tera lele psyshock a good majority of the time, even with hazards up, which is a nice benefit to have. Tera dragon for waterpon, also helps vs random electric types too
EVIL @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
Tera Type: Dragon
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Future Sight
- Chilly Reception
- Sludge Bomb
- Ice Beam
The first actually new addition to the team, Gking feel really nice. It's able to multitask, and can set up nasty future sight combos with pokemon such as waterpon, lando or pawmot or check dangerous pokemon such as ival and non-specs lele Sludge bomb is a great option to heavily dent lele and ko ival as well as deal serious damage to a non-terad waterpon. Ice beam is just a filler last option for gliscor and random dragons floating around, but flamethrower is also a very real option to use in order to answer ferro more reliably.
(you already know who this is) FRAUDULENT @ Wellspring Mask
Ability: Water Absorb
Tera Type: Water
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Ivy Cudgel
- Horn Leech
- Encore
I'm ngl this pokemon is just not ok. It's able to clean teams like nobody's buisness and its tendency to crit ohko its checks is just evil. Water absorb is great into rain or alo, and it hits so disgustingly hard at +2 with the mask boost, letalone tera. The last move is honestly entirely up to choice, fighting coverage for steels or play rough for dragons are both very solid options, as well as spikes or even taunt.
Additional Notes:
You may be noticing, a lot of these pokemon have pivoting moves, the main reason why is because if, at any time a pokemon sets up on a turn you pivot, you can immediately go into banette and encore lock it! Once you've revealed encore, it makes your opponent much more hesitant to setup, ultimately giving your defensive backbone an easier time
This team pretty much obliterates "big stall" ogerpon alone is pretty much an instant 6-0, but add on the trapping mban and it's oftentimes an instant forfeit
Honestly idrc if mban rises or drops, I've just had an incredibly fun time both building and playing both versions of the team, and I hope you will too!
