In standard gameplay, a dual-typing is almost always superior to a mono-typing. They both have their perks defensively with no clear victor, but offensively, dual-typing, and thus dual-STAB trumps mono-typing in almost every case. A commonly suggested/rumoured/hoped for mechanic change every generation to rectify this is for monotyped Pokémon to get an increased STAB multiplier, and that's what this meta is all about. In Super STAB...
Mono-typed Pokémon receive a 2x STAB multiplier
Simple right? No new typings, no movepool additions, no other changes to the meta. All you have to be aware of is that mono-typed Pokémon hit 33% harder with their STABs now.
How does Adaptability work? It provides a 33% bonus to the STAB multiplier. This means it remains (4/3)*1.5x=2x for dual-typed mons, but mono-typed Adaptability users get a (4/3)*2x=2.67x STAB multiplier. Watch out for them Porygon-Zs - theirHyper Voice Tri Attack now has an effective 240 213 BP with Adaptability. Hyper Beam (lol)? 400.
252+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Porygon-Z Tri Attack vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey: 301-355 (42.1 - 49.7%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Adaptability Porygon-Z Hyper Beam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Blissey: 566-666 (79.2 - 93.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
How does Protean work? Exactly the same as it does now. This means that Greninja and Kecleon receive the powerful mono-STAB bonus on every move in their movepool.
Fun fact, iirc Super STAB was The Eevee General's original name for STABmons, and when I first saw it I totally thought it was going to be this meta.
