Kyurem-B is most recognized in SM OU for its one-time nuke in Icium Z + Freeze Shock, but this unique set uses Substitute + Hone Claws to take advantage of bulkier teams attempting to pivot around the single Z-Move. Substitute functions well as both a method of gaining setup opportunities and landing the two-turn Freeze Shock safely. Its monstrous Attack stat and perfect high-BP coverage give it enormous offensive pressure, and its solid resistances and bulk let it set Substitute against defensive staples like Toxapex, as well as Chansey, which is unable to break its Substitute in one hit thanks to its 56 HP EVs. Hone Claws gives Kyurem-B a way to pressure Ice- and Electric-resistant Pokemon that would otherwise be able to stall it out by pivoting and inducing status. Given that this Kyurem-B set is generally used as a standalone stallbreaker, its teammates vastly vary depending on the team it's used on; however, it always appreciates support from Defoggers like Mega Latias, Tapu Fini, and Tornadus-T to help give it the entry it wants. In offensive matchups, it tends to perform the same role as a standard Icium Z Kyurem-B would: making use of its defensive typing and locking a KO with its Z-Move.
