Hi all, I'm kind of new here but I've been playing on Shoddy for a while. Thanks for all your posts about this warstory. Answering some of them :
I had a feeling that Syl was gonna go for the DD just based on his unorthodox nature but when I thought about it it seemed very risky (and not just for the obvious reason) - Syl was obviously banking on you using Rapid Spin but if Starmie was indeed running the standard Rapid Spin EV spread he would have been able to survive +1 LO EQ or SE. I guess you were running a 4/252/252 spread?
I agree with you. I was trying to put a lot of pressure on Rey and to stop giving him free turns. But DDancing was very risky and not quite rewarding enough if it didn't allow me to at least kill Starmie. The standard spinner would have indeed survived a +1 SE. Fortunately, Rey's Starmie was running a less bulky spread.
Another thing that concerned me was rey's confidence that Weavile would be able to revenge Syl's +1 Adamant Gyarados because if Gyara were to run 252 Spe, he'd have 391 speed compared to Weavile's 383.
Rey made the right assumption here since my Gyara was running just enough speed to be faster than max speed Starmie at +1.
Oh, and btw, I absolutely hate players who bluff during a match, it requires way too much thinking. Plus, its a really dirty trick.
I consider bluffing as part of the game really, whether via talking or playing. It just adds another dimension to it.
and some fairly simple mistakes (not using Substitute against Azelf when Stealth Rock was the obvious play, given you'd just revealed Salamence in the wings).
SR wasn't such an obvious play. I was hoping that the threat of Trick/Fire attack was enough to make Rey attack and kill Azelf, or even switch. I really wanted SR to go up but it was late game and there was no way for Rey to assume I was crazy enough to let him get a free Sub+a free attack (since Azelf was scarfed). Again, it was very risky on my part and had I thought longer I'm not sure I'd have made that choice.
