Decidueye @ Choice Band
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 Atk / 8 SpD / 248 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Spirit Shackle
- Brave Bird
- U-turn

Choice Band Decidueye
Banded Decidueye performs as a pivot with some nice benefits from it’s ghost typing in comparison to Tsareena, allowing it to take on Bewear, Virizion, and Cresselia more confortably. It has U-turn for poor match ups like Mandibuzz, which allows it to pair with other wallbreakers.

Decidueye @ Choice Specs
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Leaf Storm
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Rock]
- U-Turn

252 SpA Choice Specs Decidueye Hidden Power Rock vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Mandibuzz: 170-202 (40 - 47.6%) -- 98.8% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

The biggest thing holding decidueye back is that it’s walled to hell and back by Mandibuzz, so this set attempts to flip it on its head. No one would have any qualms going directly into Mandibuzz on this, so hp rock on the obvious switch and 2hko with rocks up. This thing can break some defensive cores really nicely without Mandibuzz standing in its way plus, it can act as a pivot with U-Turn to bring in other attackers. Other things beaten like Mandibuzz and anti-offense pokemon like yanmega pair well with this set.

Decidueye @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Overgrow / Long Reach
EVS: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Speed
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Spirit Shackle
- Brave Bird
- U-turn

One of Decidueye's biggest drawbacks is its awkward speed tier: it's too slow to be a sweeper but not slow enough to abuse Trick Room. So, this set utilizes a Choice Scarf to patch up Decidueye's Speed, enabling a Jolly Decidueye to outspeed and revenge kill threats such as Salazzle, Zygarde 10%, and Lycanroc-Dusk and is one point away from speed-tying with Aerodactyl. An Adamant one, on the other hand, can hit incredibly hard and still outspeed Virizion and non-scarfed Moltres and Tyrantrum.

The set is pretty simple to use: it comes on weakened threats and revenge kill them. Spirit Shackle is your main STAB and comes with the great effect of trapping your opponent. Leaf Blade is your second STAB and has a nice chance to critical hit. Brave Bird is primarily there to hit Fighting-types like Virizion, Bewear, Machamp, and Pangoro. U-turn is the last move on the set, allowing Decidueye to escape from unfavorable matchups such as Mandibuzz.

Overgrow is your ability of choice, allowing Decidueye to fire off powerful Leaf Blades when it's at 1/3rd of its health. Long Reach could be used instead if you really want to bypass Rocky Helmet and Bewear's Fluffy ability, but 9 times out of 10 Overgrow is the better ability.

hi im sneaking in a set before this cycle ends:psyglad:
Decidueye @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spirit Shackle
- Toxic
- Substitute
- Roost

this decid set aims to trap and eliminate (or at least weaken) common defensive answers to it like mandibuzz and umbreon. subtox wears down a lot of stuff really quickly and roost + lefties ensures decidueye wont be dying to its own subs. really nice to pair with mons that like dark types dead such as meloetta, cm cress, and doublade.

Decidueye @ Life Orb
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Energy Ball / Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Roost

The biggest issue with Decidueye is that you can't really deal with it's defensive answers without affording to Z-Giga Impact. With this set, Decidueye can act as a nice Ground resist (a scarce thing on the tier!) by checking and straight OHKOing the likes of Zygarde-10% with HP Ice and do pretty okay against Mandibuzz + Water + Steel cores. The spread above outruns CB Adamant Tyrantrum and get some bulk to setup a bit more confortably.

+2 252 SpA Life Orb Decidueye Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Mandibuzz: 294-348 (69.3 - 82%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

So, there goes the recipes for this week:

Specially Defensive Defog set

Decidueye @ Leftovers
Ability: Overgrow
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Careful Nature
- Defog
- Spirit Shackle
- Rest
- Toxic

Here we have a defensive Decidueye, which is focused on the special side (which is already nice), with Defog to get rid of hazards and the combination Toxic + Spirit Shackle to wear down the opponent. Spirit Shackle is chosen because is a STAB trapping move with good coverage.
Rest + Leftovers allows Decidueye to win attrition games and avoid annoying status.

The EVs spread is focused on the special side of the spectrum because it is the better trait this bird has even though the SpA is totally wasted. Unfortunately I'm not able to fit Light Screen on the movepool in order to use a physically defensive spread because I have to drop something important (maybe Defog, but being another hazards controller this is a niche Decidueye has over Defog Flygon and Gligar).

The defensive side of the spectrum is lacking, so Reflect or WoW support is really appreciated.

hi, sorry about the lateness and congrats to me for winning cycle 17!! now onto this cycles mon:

Cycle 18: Virizion!
Virizion rapidly solidified itself as one of RU's strongest threats because of its great typing and stats. However, most sets do not take advantage of its amazing bulk and wide movepool, which opens up a broad spectrum of options for it to run. What new sets could be innovated this cycle?

Taunt Viriz

Virizion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP /252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- Taunt

Taunt is to prevent opposing pkmn from setting up, Defogging, Hazard sprwading and Recovering. I kept Leaf Blade and Close Combat as his Dual Stab. Stone Edge is coverage for pkmn like Moltres and Rotom Heat.

Virizion @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Close Combat
- Synthesis

Synthesis Virizion‘s goal is to be an offensive switch-in to some threats that annoy offense. Chief among them is Mega Blastoise, which you usually have to try and pivot around on offense. This set takes advantage of virizion’s good bulk to switch into mons like that and start breaking. Life orb is used to have good synergy with synthesis to negate life orb recoil and have better synergy with teams that already have a z-move user, though a z-move definitely can be used as well. Healing Wish support is nice with this set so it doesn’t have to worry about potential scald burns as much

Hi dont use this

Virizion @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 248 HP / 68 SpD / 192 Spe
Timid Nature
- Synthesis
- Taunt
- Toxic
- Sacred Sword

TANK VIRIZION. You have enough speed to outspeed base 100 mons like Ninetales and hit it with sacred sword for a 2hko(you also live a fire blast from non specs ninetales!!!). The SpD evs help you avoid the 2hko(most of the time) from modest ice beam blastoise, and you toxic stall it. With taunt toxic you beat walls like cresselia, milotic, pyukumuku and snorlax(omegalul), you also check stuff like zydog. You also prevent rotoms/mandibuzz from deffoging gg.

Double Screen Virizion

Virizion @ Light Clay
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Giga Drain
- Toxic

Here we have a fast Screen setter alongside Light Clay in order to have the maximum team support possible.
Toxic is also a powerful tool to have when you are able to gain turns of longevity i.e. with Screens and is a good "coverage" move towards generic threats.
Giga Drain is there to have further longevity and void being Taunt-bait.

The spread is focused on HP and Spe in order to have both bulk and Spe.

This Virizion is a support member, so it is almost useless if left alone.

Virizion @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Leaf Blade
- Protect

SD+Protect Virizion
This variant of SD Virizion drops Stone Edge on the standard set for Protect, with the main purpose being to aviod being revenge killed by Golisopod. It also has merits of scouting revenge killers that use choice items, such as Zydog, Swellow, Gardevoir, Tyrantrum, Moltres, Roserade, Entei, etc. This can make it easier for a team to switch into these threats or can allow Virizion to stay in on a move it survives and potentially get another KO.

Naive Nature

- Close Combat

I'm a little surprised this isn't used as a Scarfer. Anyway, this set is designed to revenge other Scarfers like Moltres and Tyrantrum. Check out these stats:

- 252 Atk Virizion Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Moltres: 372-440 (115.8 - 137%) -- guaranteed OHKO
- 252 Atk Virizion Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tyrantrum: 264-312 (86.2 - 101.9%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

It also can check setup sweepers at +1 Speed, such as Feraligatr and Dragon Dance Tyrantrum. HP Ice with a Naive Nature is a guaranteed 2HKO on Scarf Flygon and Gligar, so they don't wall you to Hell and back.
