Moves
========
U-turn is great for pivoting out of some sturdier Fairy-type answers such as Registeel. Although Sticky Web on a Choice Specs set may seem odd, it's great for slowing down opposing teams, and Ribombee's offensive presence yields plenty of opportunities to set it up. Psychic improves Ribombee's ability to act as a revenge killer, letting it remove Pokemon like Salazzle. It also lets Ribombee hit Pokemon like Nidoqueen and Roserade. Sticky Web or Psychic can be dropped for Hidden Power Fire, which allows Ribombee to remove weakened Steel-types. However, Bug Buzz already hits Steel-types such as Bronzong and Metagross, so Hidden Power Fire is commonly inefficient.
Set Details
========
A Timid nature allows Ribombee to outpace Pokemon like Noivern, Zygarde-10%, and Raikou. Shield Dust lets Ribombee avoid secondary effects such as burn from Scald. Sweet Veil can be used to help against teams carrying Pokemon such as Sleep Powder Roserade. However, Sleep Powder Roserade isn't overwhelmingly prevalent and other sleep-inducing Pokemon are nearly nonexistent, so Shield Dust is the more consistent ability.
Usage Tips
========
Utilize Ribombee's defensive typing to pivot into and check attackers such as Synthesis Virizion, Zygarde-10%, Shaymin, and weakened Mega Blastoise. However, give such threats as few turns as possible, as Ribombee's lackluster bulk prevents it from switching in more than one or two times. Ribombee's somewhat lackluster Special Attack prevents it from being able to make headway against Pokemon such as Registeel, Milotic, and Porygon2. So, instead of attacking them, use U-turn on the switch in to gain momentum and give free turns to teammates. Set up Sticky Web on forced switches to support slower teammates. For example, if up against a Pokemon such as Virizion or Tsareena, take advantage of the free turn by setting up Sticky Web. However, use Sticky Web with caution to avoid giving opposing setup sweepers like Barbaracle free turns.
Team Options
========
Choice Specs Ribombee is best used on bulky offense teams that really appreciate its defensive typing allowing it to be a one- or two-time switch-in to some of the tier's bigger threats, mainly Zygarde-10%, Virizion lacking Stone Edge, and Shaymin. Slow, powerful wallbreakers such as Guts Machamp, Choice Band Tyrantrum, and Pangoro appreciate Ribombee's ability to give them free turns through U-turn and, especially, Sticky Web, which lets them outpace checks such as Mega Blastoise. They also break down many of Ribombee's checks and counters, making it much easier to clean up late-game with Ribombee. Sticky Web is also fantastic support for setup sweepers, as it allows teammates like Dragon Dance Feraligatr to beat Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Gardevoir and Shaymin and Rock Polish Tyrantrum to outpace Choice Scarf Salazzle. Feraligatr and Tyrantrum also make use of Ribombee's weakness to Fire-types, and, in Tyrantrum's case, Poison-types to set up.
