Medicham [Medium] (F)

Stage: ★★★☆☆

Type: Fighting / Psychic

Abilities: Pure Power / Telepathy (Unlocked)
  • This Pokemon has immense inner strength that grows with its development, raising its Attack by one Rank for each evolution level (first of three stages = 1, first of two stages or second of three stages = 2, fully evolved = 3). If Skill Swapped, the swapped Pokemon's Attack is only raised by one Rank.
  • This Pokemon has a mental link with its allies in multiple battles, which allows it to avoid taking damage from allied attacks that damage each foe or the entire field like Blizzard and Earthquake. They are still affected by an opponents spread damage attacks.

Smokomodo [Scaler] (F)

Stage: ★★★☆☆

Type: Fire / Ground

Abilities: Blaze / Technician (Unlocked)
  • When this Pokemon's HP is lower than 33% (flat), the Base Attack Power of any fire attack is increased by two (2). (eg Flamethrower goes from 9 to 11, Fire Blast from 11 to 13)
  • This Pokemon is more skilled at performing weaker moves, causing any of their one-hit or two-hit attacks that normally have 6 or less Base Attack Power to have their Base Attack Power on each hit multiplied by 1.5. (e.g. Aerial Ace goes from 6 to 9, Mach Punch goes from 4 to 6, Double Hit to from 4 per hit to 6 per hit etc.) The Energy Cost for a one-hit or two-hit attack that has its BAP increased by Technician is increased by one (1). Each hit in a multi-hit move is boosted by one (1) Base Attack Power, and the Energy Cost for multi-hit attacks is increased by two (2). Because Technician is a multiplier on single hit moves, its effect is applied to Base Attack Power before any additive effects. Technician only applies to combos in the rare case that an initial hit will have 6 or less BAP.

Tonight, bear witness to a battle of casual analysis; the hopeful Gemini Taurus has issued a challenge, hoping to test the waters of gym leadership, and sports a full team of Normal-type Pokemon. Not one to shy from a fight, Mowtom has upped the ante, adding a wager of bragging rights to her entry. Both teams are packed with powerful Pokemon, and our battlers will need to exercise caution to avoid swinging the match on a given round. Be on the lookout for Toucannon; its massive BAP allows it overpower any of its potential opponents, and its bad matchups are few and far between. Similarly, Mowtom's Medicham shows potential in this fight, but, given that Gemini Taurus has brought a squad which fares well against Fighting-types, Mowtom may find herself faced with disappointing inconsistency.

Let the battle begin!

"I mean, there's a reason I brought only one Fighting type. Now, I'm not sure if this is optimal or not, but it just sounds like so much fun...Launce @ Power Anklet, let's go!"
"Did the temperature drop by around 295 Kelvin? Or is it just me?"

IF
Mango is under P/E AND you would otherwise Sheer Cold THEN Hail the first time, Reflect the second
IF Mango is in the evasive stage of Fly AND you would otherwise Sheer Cold THEN Thunder
IF Mango has Double Team clones AND you would otherwise Sheer Cold THEN Blizzard

Mowtom reveals one of the few remaining techs in BBP, embracing its imposing yet highly-telegraphed presence by brazenly setting up on her first order. The referee had planned to use Anklet-bolstered OHKO moves in a future tournament or gym battle, so that the reward could be reaped in a serious fight before the potential nerf showed up, but the referee digresses. Lapras demonstrates the unbridled power of its attacks, unleashing an onslaught on the order of 3 strong actions and chilling its opponent to the very fiber of its being. Unfortunately, Lapras is too weak to score a knockout against Toucannon, who capitalizes on Lapras's setup action to deliver a nonstop barrage of seeds that renders both Pokemon unconscious. Gemini Taurus has definitely made the most of a terrible situation, and whether or not Mowtom will benefit from this trade is yet to be seen. Nevertheless, the ball is in her court as our battlers prepare to deploy their replacement combatants, so stay tuned as we enter the next round.

***IF Smokomodo is under the effects of a P/E move when you are to act use Rain Dance the first instance and Chill the second instance, pushing back each time.
***IF Smokomodo is normal-type when you are to act, use Focus Blast that action instead.
***IF Smokomodo is to use a damaging fighting-type combination, use Protect the first instance and push actions back.

Wasting no time, Mowtom selects her next Pokemon, the mythical creature known as "Smokomodo." In retaliation, Gemini Taurus sends out Drampa and immediately pressures the opposing Pokemon with superpowered coverage. Unfortunately, Smokomodo's advantage in matchup knowledge does nothing to stop the impending deluge, forcing Mowtom to chance a phaze in hopes of obtaining a better matchup; this risk backfires as Meloetta enters the field, a formidable foe that threatens to knock out Smokomodo and wear down its replacement. However, Mowtom still has a fighting chance, depending on the choices she makes this round, so stay tuned for more.

Hello, your least favourite ref is back. The previous ref seems like he needs some rest too? Ah well. We can all blame covid.
Mowtom decides that switching out is useless here, and opted for raw, hard damage. Meloetta returns the favor, but it’s a Quick Attack which saves Meloetta from another 13 damage. With just one Pokemon left, will Mowtom be able to use Medium’s raw sweeping power to defeat a weakened Meloetta? Or will the two remaining Pokemon be too much? Find out... next round!

"Not that it matters, but Bulldoze should have the Technician boost and rain lasts for 4 rounds, not 12 actions. Sending out Medium @ Earmuffs."
"I'm pretty sure that isn't a real item."
"But we just introduced so many new ones...fine, take a Black Belt. Not like any item besides Earmuffs could possibly help here."

"wow we dozed off there!"

***if you flinch, push back actions
***if Medicham is to use a damaging dark type combination A2 or A3, use Protect the first instance

"I want it on record that if I ordered Fake Out~Detect~High Jump Kick, Medium would escape this round without being Perish Songed."
"I'd still be afflicted by it next round, though."

Really odd why Mowtom went with this. A stronger attack could easily have ended Meloetta. Instead, a ridiculous amount of damage was wasted. Is this some sort of elaborate plan?
Forget that, Mowtom effectively conceded defeat.

"Consecutive EN is included in the combo's EN cost before the *3.5. So it's (12+8+2)*3.5 EN (before STAB) for the combo."

...
Mowtom I have no why you want to give up.
I don’t think Medicham dies either, because 0EN isn’t a negative? Tell me if Medicham does die.

"0 EN is enough to be KOed, but by my calcs the Drain Punch combo should have cost 76 EN, so I'd be at -2 anyway. And I gave up because I couldn't avoid being Perish Songed next round, at which point it would be completely impossible for me to win."

And Mowtom decides to completely give up instead of trying to deal as much damage to Drampa as possible and therefore winning.
I understand if you don’t want to prolong this battle though.

Gemini Taurus wins!

Rewards:
Gemini Taurus +3 TC +3 RC -2 JC
Mowtom +3 TC +3 RC -2 JC
S0L1D G0LD +2 RC +2 JC
Me +2 RC +2 JC

Can somebody check if the rewards are right? Thanks! ^^
