Rate of the Month
RotM is a project that looks to bring quality individual rates into the spotlight and recognise the hard work of unbadged raters.
  • Every month, official Team Raters will be monitor the rates posted in their respective tiers.
  • A few will be chosen that the RMT staff feel exemplify the qualities of an excellent rate.
  • These rates will be posted in this thread, along with a paragraph explaining why the particular rate won. This will allow aspiring raters to gain an idea of what constitutes high-quality rates, and hopefully incorporate those aspects into their own rates.
  • Official Team Raters are eligible to win, but unbadged raters will have priority.
Winners will earn a place in the Hall of Fame, which will be kept in the OP of every thread, and will earn more consideration for the Ladybug
and Team Rater
badges. Also, after gaining three places in the Hall of Fame, a rater will be eligible to earn voice status in the RMT room on PS! on the condition that they've shown an interest in getting involved.

We hope that this project will encourage people to put more effort into their rates and become better and more experienced raters, consequently increasing the quality of rates posted in the forum. Good luck to you all!

Congrats to lyd and patlop2307 for winning the RotM for April! They both have made fantastic rates with great suggestions and formatting.

Iyd starts off his rate for this team built around Gyarados by identifying the main threats in Ash Greninja, which is only soft checked by AV Magearna, a Pokemon that lacks recovery and so is easy to wear down, Tapu Koko which is able to consistently pressure his defensive core thanks to Volt Switch, Kartana which becomes really threatening after some chip damages on Mew and Mega Pinsir which is also theatening after the weakening of Mew. His first major change is to replace Magearna with Tapu Bulu, which provides a solid check to Ash Greninja and Tapu Koko thanks to its Assault Vest. His second major change is to replace Mew with Zapdos, which provides the team with a great check to Kartana and Mega Pinsir. These changes made the defensive core way more solid than it was before.

Iyd wraps up with two minor changes, which are focused on improving the Stall matchup as well as adding Stealth Rock. So, he suggests Taunt over Earthquake on Gyarados to setup easier against fat teams. He then made Heatran the Stealth Rocker by replacing Toxic with Steath Rock.

patlop's rate also starts off by pointing out the key threats of the team in Zygarde, which can damage the entire team with Thousand Arrows due to Lando-T being offensive, and Heatran which gets some switchin situations to annoy the team with Magma Storm, Earth Power and Toxic/Protect.

He first suggests changing his actual Landorus-T's set to a defensive set, which provides the team a super check to Zygarde and other Grounds like opposite Landorus-T thanks to HP Ice. His second suggestion is to change Ash Greninja's item for Waterium Z, which allows that Ash Greninja to setup Spikes with ease, especially against Pokemon like Mega Sableye. Not being locked also prevents Pokemon like Heatran from coming on a Greninja locked on Spikes.

Keep up the great work for this month
