[OVERVIEW]

Porygon2 is one of the most physically bulky Pokemon in RU thanks to the combination of its very good physical bulk that is further boosted by Eviolite. Access to Recover lets it stay healthy throughout a match and allows it to be a reliable check to common wallbreakers such as Zygarde-10%, Metagross, and Tyrantrum. Porygon2 also has the ability Trace, which can allow it to copy a potentially useful defensive ability such as Prism Armor, Regenerator, or Water Absorb. While Porygon2 sounds like an amazing Pokemon in the metagame, it is weak against the prominent Fighting-types such as Virizion, Machamp, and Toxicroak. Porygon2's bulk is largely thanks to Eviolite, so once it loses it from Knock Off or Trick, it becomes much easier to take out. Furthermore, Porygon2's vulnerability to residual damage from entry hazards and Toxic mean that it can be overwhelmed easy.

Moves
========

Recover keeps Porygon2 healthy throughout the match. Ice Beam is Porygon2's most reliable method of OHKOing Zygarde-10%, Noivern, and Flygon. It also deals considerable damage to Tyrantrum. Foul Play allows Porygon2 to be a reliable check to Metagross. Toxic can be used to break down bulkier Pokemon, while Thunder Wave can paralyze fast offensive threats. Thunderbolt can be run on this set alongside Ice Beam for BoltBeam coverage. It would also allow Porygon2 to hit Pokemon such as Slowbro, Mega Blastoise, and Mantine much harder. However, the ability to check physical attackers with Foul Play is generally more important.

Set Details
========

A Bold nature with maximum HP and Defense EVs along with Eviolite makes Porygon2 as physically bulky as possible. Trace allows Porygon2 to copy the foe's ability, which can potentially aid in its defensive utility.

Usage Tips
========

Porygon2 can easily come in on most physical attackers like Zygarde-10%, Metagross, and Tyrantrum and cripple them with Toxic or Thunder Wave, chip them down with Ice Beam or Foul Play, or recover any health lost with Recover. Porygon2 can also pivot into certain Pokemon to copy their abilities to aid in its defensive role. For example, copying Slowbro's Regenerator can help heal its HP when it switches out, Mantine and Seismitoad's Water Absorb makes it immune to Scald, and Espeon's Magic Bounce can help it bounce Toxic and Stealth Rock back at the foe. Use Recover liberally to make sure that Porygon2 doesn't struggle to check the threats it's supposed to. Do not let Porygon2 get afflicted with status conditions, especially Toxic, because they're detrimental to its defensive utility. Keep Porygon2 away from a potential Knock Off or Trick because it needs its Eviolite to tank hits.

Team Options
========

Because Porygon2 cannot do much to defensive Steel-types like Registeel, partners like Arcanine, Machamp, and Nidoqueen can be very beneficial because they can all deal super effective damage to them. Z-Move users like Synthesis Virizion and Z-Celebrate Shaymin, as well as Mega Pokemon such as Mega Blastoise, Mega Sceptile, and Mega Ampharos, can help Porygon2 by providing it with a switch-in to an incoming Knock Off or Trick. Defensive Psychic-types, like Slowbro and Cresselia, and offensive ones, like Gardevoir and Necrozma, can deal with Fighting-types, making them ideal teammates for Porygon2. Gardevoir can also potentially provide Healing Wish support in case Porygon2 becomes afflicted with Toxic. Heal Bell users like Florges and Vaporeon can heal Porygon2 afflicted with Toxic poison. Florges also resists Knock Off thanks to its Fairy typing.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A more offensive set utilizing Z-Conversion with Download, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Conversion, and Recover can potentially make Porygon2 much more offensively threatening. However, without defensive investment and Eviolite, it is difficult to set up and it is still outsped by Zygarde-10% even if it does set up.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Porygon2's Normal typing means that it takes super effective damage from common Fighting-types such as Virizion, Machamp, and Toxicroak, though Virizion and Toxicroak do not want to switch into a Thunder Wave at the risk of losing their speed. While Machamp can exploit Toxic or Thunder Wave to get a Guts boost, being fully paralyzed can potentially cost it a crucial KO and being badly poisoned does put Machamp on a timer.

**Losing Eviolite**: Because Porygon2 is over reliant on its Eviolite, it cannot stay in against Knock Off users like Machamp, Drapion, and Donphan, as well as Trick and Switcheroo users like Gardevoir, Choice Scarf Metagross, and Choice Scarf Noivern.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Registeel, Bronzong, and Escavalier can easily take any of Porygon2's attacks and force it out of battle. Metagross can potentially chip Porygon2 with Stealth Rock and Toxic. However, Metagross and Escavalier do not want to switch into Foul Play or Thunder Wave.

**Wallbreakers**: Porygon2 can have issues against common wallbreakers such as Pangoro, Roserade, and Shaymin. Shaymin can lower Porygon2's Special Defense with Seed Flare and proceed to take it out the next turn. Z-Move users such as Ninetales, Raikou, and Salazzle can OHKO Porygon2 with their respective Z-Moves after Stealth Rock damage at +2.

**Bulky Setup Pokemon**: Snorlax and Calm Mind Cresselia take very little from any of Porygon2's moves and can easily set up in front of it. Cresselia can even block Toxic with Substitute and begin setting up with Calm Mind.

**Residual Damage**: While it has access to Recover, Porygon2 lacks a reliable method of dealing with status conditions, especially Toxic. It also takes damage from all entry hazards every time it comes into the battle.

[OVERVIEW]
  • Porygon2 is one of the most reliable Thunder Wave users in RarelyUsed thanks to the combination of its very good mixed physical bulk that is further boosted by Eviolite along with access to Recover, which lets it stay healthy throughout a match and allows it to be a reliable check to common wallbreakers such as Zygarde-10%, Roserade, and Agility Metagross. remove part about thunder wave, it's not really that important for p2. remove roserade, talk about how p2's a great physical wall
  • Porygon2 also has the ability Trace, which can allow it to copy a potentially useful defensive ability such as Prism Armor, Regenerator, and Water Absorb.
  • It's no slouch on the offensive side, either, as it has access to the infamous BoltBeam combo that allows it to hit everything in the metagame for neutral damage. boltbeam isn't on the main set
  • While Porygon2 sounds like an amazing Pokemon in the metagame, it is weak against the prominent Fighting-types in the metagame such as Virizion, Machamp, and Toxicroak.
  • Porygon2's bulk is thanks largely to Eviolite, so once it loses it from Knock Off or Trick, it becomes much easier to take out.
  • Its low base speed, lack of useful resistances, vulnerability to residual damage from entry hazards and Toxic, and the omnipresence of powerful Z-Moves mean that Porygon2 can be overwhelmed easy.
  • Other defensive Pokemon such as Slowbro, Florges, and Mantine usually beat Porygon2 for a spot on a team because they can hold Leftovers, have ways of dealing with status conditions, and are not weak to Fighting-types. If p2 is ran then the need for a fight check is likely already built into a team somehow, p2 is a unique mon when it comes to building so i believe this bullet can be left out - there isn't much competition in the tier for p2 as a defensive normal-type

Moves
========
  • Thunder Wave is what gives Porygon2 its niche: it has the bulk to survive powerful hits and can paralyze fast threats for its team. It can keep using Thunder Wave because it can keep itself healthy with Recover.
  • Ice Beam and Thunderbolt form perfect neutral coverage together, hitting everything in the metagame for neutral damage.
  • Foul Play can be used instead of Thunderbolt so that Porygon2 can be a better check to offensive threats like Metagross and Swords Dance Necrozma.
  • Toxic can be used instead of Thunder Wave to break down bulkier Pokemon, but it loses offensive momentum that its team could benefit from with Thunder Wave.
thunder wave isn't porygon2's niche, you should take that out of the analysis throughout. also edit this section to reflect the order of the new set - thunderbolt can be mentioned here

Set Details
========
  • A Calm Nature with 152 SpD EVs with Eviolite allow Porygon2 to survive hits from special attackers such as Roserade, Goodra, and Raikou lacking Aura Sphere. It can also survive a +2 Acid Downpour from 248 SpA Salazzle.
  • Meanwhile, 104 Def EVs with Eviloite allow Porygon2 to stomach attacks from Zygarde-10%, Arcanine, Tyrantrum, and Araquanid after Stealth Rock damage.
  • Trace allows Porygon2 to copy the foe's ability, which can potentially aid in its defensive utility.
  • Download as another option for an ability to give Porygon2 more of an offensive presence, but Trace's utility is usually preferred.
Usage Tips
========
  • Porygon2 should aim to spam Thunder Wave as much as it can, so that it can help support its team by checking fast offensive threats. not the most important thing about p2, you can move this down and the first bullet should be talking about checking physical attackers
  • It can easily come in on most special physical attackers give examples and either cripple them with Thunder Wave or Toxic, or chip them down with Ice Beam, Thunderbolt not on main set, or Foul Play, or recover any health lost with Recover.
  • Porygon2 can also pivot into certain Pokemon to Trace their abilities to aid in its defensive role. For example, copying Slowbro's Regenerator can help heal its HP when it switches out, Mantine's Water Absorb makes it immune to Scald, and Espeon's Magic Bounce can help it bounce back Toxic and Stealth Rock back at the foe. add seismitoad with mantine
  • Make sure that Porygon2 is healthy when it pivots into battle to ensure it can check threats much better. kind of vague, you don't really have the power to make sure it's healthy when it switches in. just rephrase it to say to click recover when needed so that you don't struggle to check stuff
  • Do not Porygon2 get afflicted with status conditions, especially Toxic, because they detriment its defensive utility.
  • Keep Porygon2 away from a potential Knock Off or Trick because it needs its Eviolite to tank hits.
Team Options
========
  • Porygon2 shines on balance and bulky offense teams that need a form of speed control. speed control?? this is really confusing as speed control is typically choice scarf / priority and p2 isn't known for twave
  • Slower wallbreakers like Metagross, Necrozma, Honchkrow, and Mega Ampharos generally appreciate the support Porygon2 provides with Thunder Wave.
  • Z-Move users like Celebrate Shaymin, Calm Mind Raikou, or Virizion, as well as Mega Blastoise or Mega Ampharos can help Porygon2 by providing it with a switch-in to an incoming Knock Off or Trick. shaymin hates being worn down, so make sure you specify synthesis z celebrate. you should remove raikou, it shouldn't be coming into knock off either, any chip makes it harder to wallbreak
  • Slowbro, Gardevoir, and Cresselia resist Fighting-type attacks, making them ideal teammates for Porygon2. Gardevoir can also potentially provide Healing Wish support in case Porygon2 becomes afflicted with Toxic.
  • Heal Bell users like Diancie, Florges, and Vaporeon can heal Porygon2 from Toxic poison. Diancie and Florges also resist Knock Off and Norlmalium Z Diancie is immune to Trick. zhb isn't common
  • Because Porygon2 cannot do much to Steel-types like Registeel, Bronzong, or Metagross (especially if it forgoes Foul Play), partners like Arcanine, Machamp, and Nidoqueen can be very beneficial. this is good and important, move it up to the top
[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============
  • A more offensive set utilizing Z-Conversion with Download, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Conversion, and Recover can potentially make Porygon2 much more threatening. However, Z-Celebrate Shaymin outclasses this set because of its much better Speed tier and its ability to dent special walls with Seed Flare's chance of lowering the foe's Special Defense.
  • Magic Coat could be used in the main set to potentially bounce back Stealth Rock, Spikes, and Toxic to the foe's side of the battle, but its extremely reliant on prediction and can be easily exploited.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Fighting-types**: Porygon2's Normal-typing means that it takes super effective damage from common Fighting-types such as Virizion, Machamp, and Toxicroak. Virizion and Toxicroak do not want to switch into a Thunder Wave at the risk of losing their speed. While Machamp can exploit Thunder Wave to get a Guts boost, being fully paralyzed can potentially cost it a crucial KO. good

**Losing Eviolite**: Because it is over-reliant on its Eviolite, Porygon 2 cannot stay in against Knock Off users like Machamp, Drapion, and Donphan, as well as Trick and Switcheroo users like Gardevoir, Choice Scarf Metagross, Espeon, and Choice Scarf Noivern. Espeon especially does not care about Thunder Wave thanks to Magic Bounce. remove scarf espeon mention

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Registeel, Bronzong, and Escavalier can easily take any of Porygon2's attacks and can force it out of battle. Metagross can dent it with Choice Band while other sets can cripple Porygon2 with Trick and Toxic. However, Metagross does not want to switch into Thunder Wave or Foul Play. talk about escavalier having to watch out for foul play, remove the mention of cb metagross, just talk about how rocks toxic can cripple it (cb is walled)

**Wallbreakers**: Porygon2 can also have issues against common wallbreakers such as Tyrantrum, Bewear, and Shaymin. Shaymin can lower Porygon2's Special Defense with Seed Flare and proceeds to take it out the next turn. Snorlax also takes very little from any of Porygon2's moves and can easily set up in front of it. Z-Move users such as Ninetales, Raikou, and Flygon can OHKO Porygon2 with their respective Z-Moves after Stealth Rock at +2.
snorlax isn't a wallbreaker, remove it. you can add a section about slow defensive set up (stuff like lax and subcm cress can go in there). replace bewear with pangoro or machamp, p2 tracing fluffy makes things tricky. take out flygon
**Toxic**: While it has access to Recover, Porygon2 lacks a reliable method of dealing with status conditions, especially Toxic. change this to residual damage and add other forms of residual damage

Thunderbolt can be run in on this set to form the alongside Ice Beam for BoltBeam combo so that Porygon2 can run perfect neutral coverage one moveset. It would also allow Porygon2 to hit Pokemon such as Slowbro, Mega Blastoise, and Mantine much harder. However, the ability to check physical attackers with Foul Play is generally more important.

Set Details
========

A Bold nature with maximum HP and Defense EVs along with Eviolite makes Porygon2 as physically bulky as possible. Trace allows Porygon2 to copy the foe's ability, which can potentially aid in its defensive utility.

Usage Tips
========

Porygon2 can easily come in on most physical attackers like Zygarde-10%, Metagross, and Tyrantrum and either cripple them with Toxic or Thunder Wave, chip them down with Ice Beam or Foul Play, or recover any health lost with Recover. Use Recover whenever Porygon2 can liberally to make sure that it Porygon2 doesn't struggle to check the threats it's supposed to. Do not let Porygon2 get afflicted with status conditions, especially Toxic, because they're detrimental to its defensive utility. Keep Porygon2 away from a potential Knock Off or Trick because it needs its Eviolite to tank hits.

Team Options
========

Because Porygon2 cannot do much to defensive Steel-types like Registeel, partners like Arcanine, Machamp, and Nidoqueen can be very beneficial because they can all deal super effective damage to them. Z-Move users like Synthesis Virizion and Z-Celebrate Shaymin as well as Mega Stone users Pokemon such as Mega Blastoise or and Mega Ampharos can help Porygon2 by providing it with a switch-in to an incoming Knock Off or Trick. Defensive Pokemon like Slowbro and Cresselia resist Fighting-type attacks and offensive Pokemon like Gardevoir and Necrozma can deal super effective damage to Fighting-types, making them ideal teammates for Porygon2.

A more offensive set utilizing Z-Conversion with Download, Thunderbolt, Ice Beam, Conversion, and Recover can potentially make Porygon2 much more offensively threatening. However, without defensive investment and Eviolite,(AC) it is difficult to set up and it is still outsped by Zygarde-10% even if it does set up.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Losing Eviolite**: Because it Porygon2 is over reliant on its Eviolite, Porygon2 it cannot stay in against Knock Off users like Machamp, Drapion, and Donphan,(RC) as well as Trick and Switcheroo users like Gardevoir, Choice Scarf Metagross, and Choice Scarf Noivern.

**Steel-types**: Steel-types such as Registeel, Bronzong, and Escavalier can easily take any of Porygon2's attacks and can force it out of battle. Metagross can potentially chip Porygon2 with Stealth Rock and Toxic. However, Metagross and Escavalier do not want to switch into Foul Play or Thunder Wave.

**Wallbreakers**: Porygon2 can also have issues against common wallbreakers such as Pangoro, Roserade, and Shaymin.

Porygon2 is one of the most physically bulky Pokemon in RU thanks to the combination of its very good physical bulk that is further boosted by Eviolite along with access to Recover, which lets it stay healthy throughout a match and allows it to be a reliable check to common wallbreakers such as Zygarde-10%, Metagross, and Tyrantrum.
