Moves
========
Combined with Groundium Z, Dig grants Greninja access to Tectonic Rage, allowing it to take care of Pokemon such as Toxapex, Magearna, and Heatran. Ice Beam is important to deal with Ground- and Dragon-types like Landorus-T, Gliscor, Garchomp, and Mega Latios. Gunk Shot allows Greninja to pressure Tapu Fini, Rotom-W, and Assault Vest Tangrowth. Spikes is very useful to punish switches into Greninja's checks, but U-turn can also be run to gain momentum against them. Oftentimes, U-turn is also more useful on teams with another Spikes setter. Hydro Pump is an option that can be run over Ice Beam so that Greninja can pressure Heatran and Tyranitar without having to use Tectonic Rage while maintaining the ability to hit Landorus-T and Gliscor.
Set Details
========
A Hasty nature is preferred over a Naive nature to take hits from Heatran slightly better while not hindering Greninja's damage output.
Usage Tips
========
You should avoid using Tectonic Rage as soon as the opportunity arises, as players will often be wary of it and play around it. Instead, you should play proactively to punish their attempt at scouting for it by using Spikes or coverage moves. Because of its frailty, it's often hard for Greninja to switch into play directly. To mitigate this, you should aggressively switch it into play on forced switches or with VoltTurn support. When Greninja forces a switch, you should take advantage of that by setting up Spikes or using U-turn to generate momentum.
Team Options
========
Pokemon such as Magearna, Clefable, and Mega Scizor, which can struggle against Toxapex, Magearna, and Heatran, benefit greatly from Greninja's ability to lure in and beat them. On top of that, Greninja's Spikes can make them much more annoying to switch into. Other Pokemon like Gliscor, Mega Latias, and Mega Alakazam also appreciate Greninja's Spikes support. Pivots such as Landorus-T, Rotom-W, and Magearna are useful teammates because they give Greninja an easier time to switch into play. They also tend to bait in Pokemon such as Mega Latias, Tapu Bulu, and Tangrowth, all of which Greninja can pressure very well.
