Also, as an alternative, does changing the firmware involve taking apart the PSP? I'm asking these questions because I'm wanting to do things like play SNES emulators on a portable.

Nope, you can get custom firmware and customize it however you want without ever opening up the PSP.

Unfortunately I can't find a place that sells PSP's for cheap.

Guess I'll have to go with the R4 then.

DS doesn't have full SNES support on any of the emulators on any flash card I don't think. You should research into which games are compatible first.

Are the games listed as compatible on here the only games, or is it just the games that have different traits when emulated?

From my own personal experience, the PSP does emulation a lot better than the DS. I can run almost any SNES/Genesis/etc. game on PSP at full or almost full speed, whereas many games on DS (with an R4) do not run close to full speed and often have no sound. If you can't find a good deal on a PSP, it might be better than nothing, but I would make sure to take those issues into account first.

The guy who made this video says it won't work on Vista though. Don't see why it wouldn't, can someone clear this up?
