SM OU L.G.B.T.Q. Squad - Landorus Gets Baited That Quickly? (Currently ~1600 Ladder)

Screen Shot 2017-02-09 at 10.22.44 PM.jpg
Hey guys, so I heard about this new Scolipede set that involves setting up with Swords Dance + Speed Boost and baiting in Landorus-T with Z-Aqua Tail (Hydro Vortex), so I thought I would try it out. At peak I was around 1600 in ladder, and I've been testing around with random teams since then, but I'll probably try to ladder back up soon. Anyway, let's get to it:

Yeah, I know I play lots of tiers. Lol.

LGBTQ (Scolipede) @ Waterium Z
Ability: Speed Boost
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Aqua Tail
- Megahorn
- Poison Jab

Ah, the bearer of the name. This 'mon comes in on every Tapu and fairy, bar scarf Lele and Magearna. It can set up a Swords Dance on the standard switch to Landorus-T (#1 in OU | Usage: 33.58356%) and blow that thing out of the park with a Z-Aqua Tail. Here is the calc versus a 252 HP / 252+ Def Lando-T, which nobody even runs anyway:

+1 252+ Atk Scolipede Hydro Vortex (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Landorus-Therian: 404-476 (105.7 - 124.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

It is usually best to save this thing for late game, after you have gotten rid of any steel types that can handle your STAB, which Charizard Y, Magnezone, & Sand Rush Excadrill do very well.

Robo Cop (Magnezone) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 128 HP / 252 SpA / 128 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]
Assault Vest Magnezone is the main special wall of the team. It is able to easily take on Tapu Lele, Celesteela, Ferrothorn, Scizor, etc. which all otherwise wall my late-game Scolipede sweep.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Tapu Lele Psychic vs. 128 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 132-156 (42.1 - 49.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

As you can see, not even a Modest/STAB/Choice Specs/Max SpAtk/Surge Boosted Tapu Lele Psychic can 2HKO this thing, and since most of them run Scarf anyway, it will barely be doing ~20-30%.

Oxi Clean (Rotom-Wash) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 36 SpD / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

This is of course the standard OR/AS defensive Rotom-Wash set, but it is a great defensive pair to Magnezone. It eats up the Earthquakes for Magnezone, and Magnezone eats up the special hits for Rotom. They have great synergy and form a good Volt Switch core, which is really good against SpeedPass since you can just Volt Switch between them, and when they finally Baton Pass, switch to your counter. The 8 Speed is for opposing min-speed Rotom-Wash.

Tyranitar @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 84 HP / 252 Atk / 172 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Superpower
- Pursuit

Ah, good ol' banded Tyranitar. This thing hits like a monster, and obviously can trap the Lati twins and Chansey for Zard Y. It also sets up sand for Excadrill, which is crucial for ensuring that it can kill any steel types before I try to set up with Scolipede. I'm considering changing this thing to scarf, since I only run enough speed to pass the 200 margin, and the rest of my team is rather slow (outside of a +1 Scolipede or x2 Excadrill, my fastest 'mon is Zard Y, yikes).

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

This Zard Y set is usually the most popular, but honestly I don't ever see myself clicking Focus Blast. Two of the things it hits super-effective is Ice and Steel, which I already cover, and it is only really for Rock types, which are covered by Solar Beam. I'm thinking something such as Ancient Power (for opposing Zard, or to kill something at low percent and hope for the boost), or Dragon Pulse (for the obvious dragons running around). Honestly though, I don't really know. This thing does its job of killing steel types for Scolipede already.

Underminer (Excadrill) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

Probably one of the most fun things in Pokémon is sending this thing in with sand up and absolutely wrecking every 'mon on the opposing side. It can use suicide rapid spin if it really needs to for Scolipede and Zard Y, or just sweep itself. This thing paired with Scolipede is amazing; they wreck each other's counters.

1. Ash-Greninja & Protean Greninja
This thing can basically sweep my entire team if I am not ready; I am almost considering switching Magnezone to Magearna for this reason, but I don't know if it is worth it. Hydro Pump destroys Magnezone, Dark Pulse hits Rotom-Wash, and it can just water spam against the rest of my team.

2. Mega Alakazam
Mega Zam clicks psychic versus my entire team, can trace sand rush against Exca, and focus blasts it and Magnezone. Might as well click x versus this thing, but at least for me I have not seen it that much. Again, AV Mag might be best here... unless it traces Soul-Heart. Oh god.

3. Dugtrio
This blue-nosed bastard (well, if it's shiny...) traps and EQs most of my team, or can Stone Edge my Zard Y. I hate you, Duggy.

Any suggestions or changes are greatly appreciated!

A pretty cool team, but i think to have no rocks difficults the posible sweep with scolipede, i think the team composcition is pretty well, but i think special defensive ttar is a thing to consider with that evspread or set

Tyranitar @ Leftovers/Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP /76 Def / 180 SpD
Serious Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Thunder Wave
- Pursuit
- Stone Edge/Crunch/EQ

VS Mega Kazam: Chople ttar
252 SpA Mega Alakazam Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Chople Berry Tyranitar in Sand: 168-198 (41.5 - 49%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

VS Modest Lele
252+ SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 174-206 (43 - 50.9%) -- 4.7% chance to 2HKO

252+ SpA Tapu Lele Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Chople Berry Tyranitar in Sand: 146-174 (36.1 - 43%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

VS Timid Lele

252 SpA Tapu Lele Moonblast vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Tyranitar in Sand: 158-188 (39.1 - 46.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Tapu Lele Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 180+ SpD Chople Berry Tyranitar in Sand: 136-160 (33.6 - 39.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

This set allows yo to win alakazam mega cuz you can resist very well focus blast with the shuca, and you can set rocks and paralyze some pokes like the surf latios that play very offensive aggainst the ttars that go to trap them.

Cuz of Tapu Leles and greninja ash i recomend you get a too much bulky Magnezone

Magnezone @ Assault Vest
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 248 HP / 132 SpD / 128 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 132+ SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 133-157 (38.6 - 45.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

252 SpA Choice Specs Greninja Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 132+ SpD Assault Vest Magnezone: 97-115 (28.1 - 33.4%) -- 0.1% chance to 3HKO

Its a evspread with you can check pretty well leles and Greninja that is a pretty hard to handle for you team

And for last i think you should include this calc in your post

+2 252+ Atk Scolipede Hydro Vortex (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 363-428 (101.6 - 119.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Good Luck and good team bro, hope you have a nice day.

I like the idea, I'll definitely consider using these two sets over the ones I have for some more bulk. The thing about the Garchomp calc is that ScarfChomp outspeeds my Scolipede at +1, so it can switch in on my Swords Dance and Outrage or EQ. If I go Jolly to outspeed it, then Hydro Vortex doesn't kill.

this team isn't gay enough for its title

anyway you probably don't need that 8 Speed, having a slower Volt Switch could actually mean a lot against other Rotom (and anything that creeps Rotom) because it means a safer switch for Excadrill / Scolipede

Lol yeah I know, I just thought about LGB/Lando Gets Baited and I was like damn I could somehow turn this into lgbtq. And yeah you're right, I should probably have 0 speed and just put it in SpDef.

men, the team have serious problems with double dance landorus-therian, that cuz i say yo to use ice beam > stone edge on ttar, i think that can make the matchup be more easy

Your gameplan against mega alakazam is dodge focus blast. Beside rotom and zard Zam OHKO everything.

Your way of removing rocks is lo drill and it is very mediocre at this job, something like tapu fini is much more reliable.
