Gastrodon is used as a decent defensive answer to the likes of Dragapult, Hatterene, and Dracovish, being able to pivot into them, avoid a 2HKO from any of their moves, shrug the damage off with Recover, and beat them through use of its damaging moves. Earthquake is chosen over Earth Power because it does more damage against the foes Gastrodon likes switching into, such as Hatterene and Gengar. However, Earth Power can be used if your team is weak to Toxapex and you want Gastrodon to be able to outspeed it, since it allows Gastrodon to use a Calm nature. Clear Smog allows Gastrodon to safely beat Calm Mind Hatterene and mess with setup sweepers like Nasty Plot Togekiss and Bulk Up Grimmsnarl. Altnernatively, Curse allows Gastrodon to beat Clefable more easily, alongside improving its matchup against physical attackers such as Galarian Darmanitan. Ice Beam is another option that Gastrodon can use in order to not be setup bait for the likes of Substitute Hydreigon and Substitute + Disable Dragapult. The given spread allows Gastrodon to minimize the chance of getting 2HKOed by Choice Band Dracovish's Crunch after Stealth Rock while always surviving two Draco Meteors from Choice Specs Dragapult after Stealth Rock.

Teammates like Corviknight pair excellently with Gastrodon, alleviating pressure from each other through both of them checking threats like Dragapult and Aegislash; Gastrodon is also able to check Pokemon like Dracovish, Rotom-H and Toxtricity, which Corviknight struggles against. Rotom-H is a good teammate for Gastrodon, being able to switch into foes that take advantage of Gastrodon, like Galarian Darmanitan and Substitute Corviknight. Life Orb Clefable can soak up incoming status moves, which Gastrodon heavily dislikes dealing with, and proceed to fire off strong attacks.

Earthquake is chosen over Earth Power since it does more damage against the foes Gastrodon likes switching into such as?, although Earth Power can be used if your team is weak to Toxapex and you want Gastrodon to be able to outspeed it. Make it clear that you mean that Gastrodon can afford to run a Calm nature with Earth Power. Clear Smog allows Gastrodon to safely beat CM Hatterene and mess with setup sweepers like Nasty Plot Togekiss and Bulk Up Grimmsnarl. Ice Beam is another alternative that Gastrodon can use in order to not be setup bait for the likes of Substitute Hydreigon and Substitute Disable Dragapult. The given spread allows Gastrodon to minimize the chance of getting 2HKOd by Choice Band Dracovish's Crunch after Stealth Rock, while always surviving two Draco Meteors from Choice Specs Dragapult after Stealth Rock.

Teammates like Corviknight pair excellently with Gastrodon, alleviating pressure from each other through both of them checking threats like Dragapult and Aegislash; Gastrodon is also able to check pokemon like Dracovish, Dracozolt Rotom-H and Toxtricity, which Corviknight struggles with. Rotom-H is more prevalent than Dracozolt, and Gastrodon's exceptionally well at shutting down Rotom-H, whereas it can be overwhelmed by Dracozolt, so I think it makes for a better example here. Rotom-H is a good teammate to Gastrodon, being able to switch into foes take take advantage of it, like Galarian Darmanitan and Substitute Corviknight. Life Orb Clefable can soak incoming status moves, which Gastrodon heavily dislikes dealing with, and proceed to fire off strong attacks.

Earthquake is chosen over Earth Power since because it does more damage against the foes Gastrodon likes switching into, such as Hatterene and Gengar, although. (AP) However, (AC) (prevents the sentence from being too dragged on) Earth Power can be used if your team is weak to Toxapex and you want Gastrodon to be able to outspeed it, since it allows Gastrodon to use a Calm nature. Clear Smog allows Gastrodon to safely beat CM Calm Mind Hatterene and mess with setup sweepers like Nasty Plot Togekiss and Bulk Up Grimmsnarl. Altnernatively, Curse allows Gastrodon to beat Clefable a lot easier more easily, alongside improving its matchup against physical attackers such as Galarian Darmanitan. Ice Beam is another option that Gastrodon can use in order to not be setup bait for the likes of Substitute Hydreigon and Substitute + Disable Dragapult. The given spread allows Gastrodon to minimize the chance of getting 2HKOed by Choice Band Dracovish's Crunch after Stealth Rock, (RC) while always surviving two Draco Meteors from Choice Specs Dragapult after Stealth Rock.

Teammates like Corviknight pair excellently with Gastrodon, alleviating pressure from each other through both of them checking threats like Dragapult and Aegislash; Gastrodon is also able to check pokemon Pokemon like Dracovish, Rotom-H and Toxtricity, which Corviknight struggles with against. Rotom-H is a good teammate to for Gastrodon, being able to switch into foes (that gastro checks, i'm assuming? probably should add some clarity here) take and take advantage of it them, like Galarian Darmanitan and Substitute Corviknight . Life Orb Clefable can soak up incoming status moves, which Gastrodon heavily dislikes dealing with, and proceed to fire off strong attacks.
