First Warstory: Thank God for Toxic Spikes

So I just started playing shoddy right away and today I was up against .bored. I was excited as I was getting hooked on shoddybattle. Little did I know that this was going to be one exciting battle.

WARNING: This may be alittle long and has lots of stall parts and screw ups in it(just letting you know now).

My team (In order of Apperance) :

Opponent's Team (In order of Appearance) :

Rules: Ladder Match, Sleep Clause, Freeze Clause, OHKO Clause, Evasion Clause, Species Clause, Strict Damage Clause

.bored sent out Jolteon (lvl 100 Jolteon ?).
Dark26623 sent out Roserade (lvl 100 Roserade ?).

Jolteon vs Roserade huh? Well most of the Jolteon that I have faced before have substituted on the first turn. Hoping to break the substitute I use grass knott.

Jolteon used Agility.
Jolteon's speed was sharply raised.
Roserade used Grass Knot.
Jolteon lost 27% of its health.

Well that certainly surprised me. I wasn't expecting agility. Most baton passer Jolteons I've faced have substituted on the first turn. I figure that if he had substitute, he would've used it already. I expect either another agility or he'll just baton pass. Either way I should be getting a free turn here.

---
Jolteon used Agility.
Jolteon's speed was sharply raised.
Roserade used Sleep Powder.
Jolteon fell asleep!

Yes sleep powder hit! Now I get a minimum of 2 free turns to lay down toxic spikes. 1 for the switch and another thanks to focus sash.
---
Jolteon is fast asleep!
Roserade used Toxic Spikes.
Spikes were scattered everywhere!
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!

Interesting that he didn't switch. Well I'm not complaining.
---
Jolteon is fast asleep!
Roserade used Toxic Spikes.
Toxic Spikes were scattered around the foe's team!

K toxic spikes are up, now I'm free to attack with grass knot.

---
Jolteon is fast asleep!
Roserade used Grass Knot.
Jolteon lost 25% of its health.
---
Jolteon is fast asleep!
Roserade used Grass Knot.
Jolteon lost 26% of its health.

---
Jolteon woke up!
Jolteon used Baton Pass.
.bored switched in Vaporeon (lvl 100 Vaporeon ?).
Vaporeon was badly poisoned!
Vaporeon was badly poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!
Roserade used Grass Knot.
It's super effective!
Vaporeon lost 47% of its health.
Vaporeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Vaporeon restored 6% of its health.
Vaporeon is hurt by poison!
Vaporeon lost 6% of its health.

Vaporeon? Interesting. I'm expecting ice beam and knowing that I'm now slower than Vaporeon and because of the fact that grass knot probably won't kill it I do the safe thing and switch out.

---
Dark26623 switched in Starmie (lvl 100 Starmie).
Vaporeon used Baton Pass.
.bored switched in Espeon (lvl 100 Espeon ?).
Espeon was badly poisoned!
Espeon was badly poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!
Espeon is hurt by poison!
Espeon lost 6% of its health.

What?! Another baton pass? Definally wasn't expecting that. This is my first mistake. I should have realized sooner that this was a baton pass chain team.

---
Dark26623 switched in Umbreon (lvl 100 Umbreon ?).
Espeon used Calm Mind.
Espeon's special attack was raised.
Espeon's special defence was raised.
Espeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Espeon restored 6% of its health.
Espeon is hurt by poison!
Espeon lost 12% of its health.

I switch in my Umbreon in the hopes of wall espeon as it resists both of its primary attacks. For some reason I think that this espeon doesn't have batton pass so I don't think calm mind is unusual. Another mistake.

---
Espeon used Calm Mind.
Espeon's special attack was raised.
Espeon's special defence was raised.
Umbreon used Mean Look.
Espeon was trapped!
Espeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Espeon restored 6% of its health.
Espeon is hurt by poison!
Espeon lost 19% of its health.

Because I don't think Espeon has Baton pass I trap it in the hopes of toxic stalling it to death. I still don't think that Calm Mind is a problem. When will I learn?

---
Espeon used Calm Mind.
Espeon's special attack was raised.
Espeon's special defence was raised.
Umbreon used Wish.
Umbreon made a wish!
Espeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Espeon restored 6% of its health.
Espeon is hurt by poison!
Espeon lost 25% of its health.

Here I start to use my wish+protect strategy since Espeon is trapped and dying to
---
Umbreon used Protect.
Umbreon protected itself!
Espeon used Baton Pass.
.bored switched in Vaporeon (lvl 100 Vaporeon ?).
The wish came true!
Vaporeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Vaporeon restored 6% of its health.
Vaporeon is hurt by poison!
Vaporeon lost 6% of its health.

Vaporeon again? What is he doing here? I have finally realized that this was a baton pass team but I just didn't know who he was baton passing to. Plus I just planned on letting toxic do the damage itself.

---
Vaporeon used Acid Armor.
Vaporeon's defence was sharply raised.
Umbreon used Wish.
Umbreon made a wish!
Vaporeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Vaporeon restored 6% of its health.
Vaporeon is hurt by poison!
Vaporeon lost 12% of its health.

---
Dark26623 switched in Roserade (lvl 100 Roserade ?).
Vaporeon used Acid Armor.
Vaporeon's defence was sharply raised.
The wish came true!
Vaporeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Vaporeon restored 6% of its health.
Vaporeon is hurt by poison!
Vaporeon lost 19% of its health.

Knowing that Vaporeon wasn't going to use ice beam because it didn't before I switch in Roserade to get some damage off of grass knot in and to conserve Umbreon's pp because I might need it later. I'm predicting a baton pass now to something different so I try to outpredict him and hopefully wreck this baton pass chain.

---
Vaporeon used Baton Pass.
.bored switched in Espeon (lvl 100 Espeon ?).
Roserade used Sleep Powder.
But it failed!
Espeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Espeon restored 6% of its health.
Espeon is hurt by poison!
Espeon lost 6% of its health.

Crap Espeon again. Sleep powder didn't work so Roserade has nothing left to do. I also wanted to play it safe just in case Espeon decided to attack.

---
Dark26623 switched in Dusknoir (lvl 100 Dusknoir ?).
Dusknoir is exerting its pressure!
Espeon used Substitute.
Espeon lost 25% of its health.
Espeon made a substitute!
Espeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Espeon restored 6% of its health.
Espeon is hurt by poison!
Espeon lost 12% of its health.

Substitute. Just great. That could really screw me over. I have to break it by any means possible.

---
Dusknoir used Shadow Sneak.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Espeon!
Espeon used Baton Pass.
.bored switched in Leafeon (lvl 100 Leafeon ?).
Leafeon was badly poisoned!
Leafeon was badly poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!
Leafeon is hurt by poison!
Leafeon lost 6% of its health.

I'm surprised the shadow sneak didn't break it at first but then I reason that it's probably from the acid armors. I'm also surprised that Leafeon is the next baton passer to come in. I have brief thoughts of an all eeveelutino team but that idea is quickly dismissed. Who would he baton pass to? I still need to break that sub.

---
Leafeon used Swords Dance.
Leafeon's attack was sharply raised.
Dusknoir used Fire Punch.
It's super effective!
The substitute took damage for Leafeon!
Leafeon's substitute faded!
Leafeon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Leafeon restored 6% of its health.
Leafeon is hurt by poison!
Leafeon lost 12% of its health.

Great the sub was broken. I'm starting to get alittle worried now though with all the stat ups being passed in this battle. After this next turn you will see why.

---
Leafeon used Baton Pass.
.bored switched in Tyranitar (lvl 100 Tyranitar ?).
Tyranitar's Sand Stream whipped up a sandstorm!
A sandstorm brewed!
Tyranitar was badly poisoned!
Tyranitar was badly poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!
Dusknoir used Fire Punch.
It's not very effective...
Tyranitar lost 2% of its health.

Dark26623: oh shit

Yeah those 2 words pretty sum up my thoughts exactly. I am in some deep trouble now. This thing has had 2 agilities, 2 acid armours, 3 calm minds and 2 swords dances passed to it. That green and purple beast was going to run right through me.

The sandstorm rages.
Dusknoir is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Dusknoir lost 6% of its health.
Tyranitar's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tyranitar restored 2% of its health.
Tyranitar is hurt by poison!
Tyranitar lost 6% of its health.
Dusknoir's leftovers restored its health a little!
Dusknoir restored 6% of its health.

Dusknoir is too important defensely for me so I switch to starmie.

---
Dark26623 switched in Starmie (lvl 100 Starmie).
Tyranitar used Dark Pulse.
It's super effective!
Starmie lost 100% of its health.
Dark26623's Starmie fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Tyranitar's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tyranitar restored 6% of its health.
Tyranitar is hurt by poison!
Tyranitar lost 12% of its health.

Finally the first pokemon of the battle goes down. I'm beginning to thinking sweep not noticing Tyranitar's health slipping down.

5-6 advantage .bored.

Then I get an idea.

---
Dark26623 switched in Roserade (lvl 100 Roserade ?).
Tyranitar used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Roserade lost 100% of its health.
Roserade hung on using its Focus Sash!
Roserade used Grass Knot.
It's super effective!
Tyranitar lost 26% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Roserade is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Roserade lost 0% of its health.
Dark26623's Roserade fainted.
Tyranitar's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tyranitar restored 6% of its health.
Tyranitar is hurt by poison!
Tyranitar lost 19% of its health.

I remember Roserade still has full health so I switch him in and promptly get blasted with a superpowered ice beam. The focus sash did the trick though and I was able to chip away at Tyranitar's health with grass knot.

4-6 advantage .bored.

---
Dark26623 switched in Gliscor (lvl 100 Gliscor ?).

.bored: It's only a matter of time before poison kills me.

I realized that he was right. Toxic was slowly eating away at his hp and I realized that he wouldn't switch out otherwise all that work would be for nothing. I promptly switch to gliscor ready to sacrifice him so I could increase toxic's damage.

Tyranitar used Ice Beam.
It's super effective!
Gliscor lost 100% of its health.
Dark26623's Gliscor fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Tyranitar's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tyranitar restored 6% of its health.
Tyranitar is hurt by poison!
Tyranitar lost 25% of its health.

3-6 advantage .bored.

I was starting to worry about toxic not working in time or not quick enough for my team to recover but then I realize I still have a very important pokemon on my team left.

---
Dark26623 switched in Umbreon (lvl 100 Umbreon ?).

.bored: Here's where I'm screwed.

Umbreon used Protect.
Umbreon protected itself!
Tyranitar used Ice Beam.
Umbreon protected itself!
The sandstorm rages.
Umbreon is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Umbreon lost 6% of its health.

Tyranitar restored 6% of its health.
Tyranitar is hurt by poison!
Tyranitar lost 31% of its health.
Umbreon's leftovers restored its health a little!
Umbreon restored 6% of its health.

Tyranitar is now at enough low health that one more turn of toxic should do the trick. I'm hoping to salvage Umbreon so I use protect in the hope that it work 2 times in a row.

---
Tyranitar is tightening its focus!
Umbreon used Protect.
But it failed!
Tyranitar used Focus Punch.
It's super effective!
Umbreon lost 100% of its health.
Dark26623's Umbreon fainted.
The sandstorm rages.
Tyranitar's leftovers restored its health a little!
Tyranitar restored 6% of its health.
Tyranitar is hurt by poison!
Tyranitar lost 12% of its health.
.bored's Tyranitar fainted.

2-5 advantage .bored.

That big huge beast of a pokemon now defeated, I jump up in joy. But I realize that this battle isn't over yet and that he still has 5 pokemon that could still beat me. I go with my best defensively pokemon left in Dusknoir.

---
.bored switched in Ambipom (lvl 100 Ambipom ?).
Dark26623 switched in Dusknoir (lvl 100 Dusknoir ?).
Ambipom was badly poisoned!

Ambipom restored 6% of its health.
Ambipom is hurt by poison!
Ambipom lost 6% of its health.
Dusknoir's leftovers restored its health a little!
Dusknoir restored 6% of its health.

When Ambipom first came in I was confused. I wondered: what is he doing here? Then after he used nasty plot I got scared again. He could baton pass that to one of his special attackers in jolteon, espeon or vaporeon.

---
Ambipom used Nasty Plot.
Ambipom's special attack was sharply raised.
Dusknoir used Fire Punch.
Ambipom lost 25% of its health.

Ambipom is hurt by poison!
Ambipom lost 12% of its health.
Dusknoir's leftovers restored its health a little!
Dusknoir restored 6% of its health.

I realize that Ambipom is getting lower and lower on hp and is in the range of a Lucario extremespeed knocking it out. I decide to just keep knocking it's hp lower and lower.

---
Ambipom used Baton Pass.
.bored switched in Espeon (lvl 100 Espeon ?).

Dusknoir restored 6% of its health.

Well I'm in a pretty good position now. I can just firepunching away. But I then decide not to. Why? Leafeon had just swords danced up and I was afraid of it killing me before I fire punched. So I use shadow sneak so I can get it in Lucario extremespeed zone.

---
.bored: I'm so dead now.
Dusknoir used Shadow Sneak.
Leafeon lost 13% of its health.
Leafeon used Leaf Blade.
Dusknoir lost 70% of its health.

Dusknoir's leftovers restored its health a little!
Dusknoir restored 6% of its health.

Ok so it didn't kill me. I still wanted to play it safe though so I shadow sneak again.

---
Dusknoir used Shadow Sneak.
Leafeon lost 12% of its health.

1-3 advantage .bored.

I figure that the game is won now. I can just extremespeed and clean this battle up.

---
.bored switched in Jolteon (lvl 100 Jolteon ?).
Dark26623 switched in Lucario (lvl 100 Lucario ?).
Jolteon was badly poisoned!
Jolteon was badly poisoned by the Toxic Spikes!

As soon as I switch in Lucario, a golden revalation hit me like a ton of lead. I could have switched in Lucario and swords danced up taking advantage of all the stat upping and then preceed to decimate his team due to extremespeed. Oh well can't change the past.

Lucario used Extremespeed.
Jolteon lost 23% of its health.
.bored's Jolteon fainted.
Lucario lost 10% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.

That's one down.

1-2 advantage .bored.

Lucario lost 55% of its health.
The sandstorm rages.
Vaporeon is buffetted by the sandstorm!
Vaporeon lost 5% of its health.
.bored's Vaporeon fainted.

I got a little worried there by the fact that extremespeed didn't kill Vaporeon and was afraid that I would die. Rest assured I had nothing to worry about.

1-1 tied.

---
.bored switched in Ambipom (lvl 100 Ambipom ?).
Lucario used Extremespeed.
Ambipom lost 34% of its health.
.bored's Ambipom fainted.
Dark26623 wins!
.bored: Good game.
Dark26623: awesome battle
.bored: That poison killed me.
.bored has left the room.

I was alittle afraid that extremespeed might not kill it as it didn't kill Vaporeon however I had nothing to worry about.

Overall it was a good battle but it didn't have to be as long as it was.

Props

-Setting up toxic spikes
-Protecting with Umbreon to doom Tyranitar
-.bored for a great and memorable battle

Slops

-Not realizing that my opponent had a baton pass chain team sooner
-Allowing my opponent to get all those stat-up moves
-Not bringing in Lucario sooner

You did great and that is honestly the first time I have seen a baton pass chain team really interesting to see.

And you shouldn't say you that your warstory was bad it was rather good although the only piece of advice I would like to add is that you should bold certain pieces of text for example the actual battle or the comment you are making yourself. Otherwise it was a good and interesting warstory props to you.

Why do people like T-tar to be the recipient of their BP chains? Use Salamence, Metagross, or Dragonite and you have no worries about Toxic spikes lol.

Anyway, gj winning even though all those stat ups were passed around. If he left Jolteon in sleeping, Lucario or someone else should've taken advantage

I'm amazed the first fire punch from Dusknoir did as much as it did after 2 Acid Armors.
Your opponent was just goofing around half the battle. That's not really a warstory.

Roserade using Sleep Powder against an already Toxiced Pokemon with Toxic Spikes down? Really gunning for a flier or steel there, eh big boy?

Well on note for the opponent. If his recipient gets hit by Toxis Spikes he should've switched it in after the first layer even if it meant breaking his chain. It would've poisoned him so he wouldn't be toxiced so later on he could've actually swept.

why 2 agilities? What was he trying to outspeed lol. 4 turns of sleep sucked for him but he should've broke the chain there. Keeping one guy asleep is worth it if the other guys pass defense. SWORDS DANCE?!? Idk seemed like a useless turn.

Good battle though.

As a somewhat experienced roserade user, I can say that if you sleep an opponent at the beginning of the match, they almost never switch out.

Your opponent was horrible. He Baton Passed to a Tyranitar Boah, complete with Focus Punch. Had it been something like Yanmega with +3 SpA / SpDef, or Gengar, or ANYTHING else, it would have been really, really frightening. But a Boah with Focus Punch?

Flygon makes a great BP recipient. He resists residual damage, has great type coverage and a priority move.

This was a pretty horrible gimmick team. t-tar was a horrible choice, and ambipon could function as an endgame cleaner, but ended up being deadweight.

I'm really sorry, but this is really not that good at all. A good warstory isn't just a log + what you were thinking at the time. We (or at least I) want, you know, a story. Make it exciting. Get creative with it. Don't just say "I predicted Substitute, but he didn't do it! How weird!" for the whole battle.
