They (the creators) also made a documentary called Square Roots. I watched it recently but it apparently came out in 09. Anyway, its really good so I recommend people watch it!
EDIT: You can also buy "The first 100 episodes" (aka first five seasons) of spongebob from amazon for $30. Even if season 4/5 sucked, $30 for the first three seasons is pretty good.

I watched spongebob when it first came out. I was a teen back then. That was seasons 1-3. I haven't watched network, cable, or satelite TV since 2003, when I moved out. We recently got Netflix, so I've gotten to watch seasons 4 and 5 now. Are seasons 6-9 really that bad?

honestly, it starts being just mediocre to flat out bad after season 4 in my opinion. I don't even bother watching it anymore cause it's just bad.
