Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Claw / Rock Slide
- Close Combat
- Shadow Sneak
A double-edged sword is usually a bad thing, but Doublade is anything but bad in PU! With great, Eviolite-boosted bulk, solid coverage options, and Swords Dance, Doublade can be a powerful mid- to late-game sweeper. Shadow Claw and Close Combat give Doublade unresisted coverage with decent power on both options; however, Rock Slide allows Doublade to catch Charizard and Scyther on a switch-in. Shadow Sneak picks off faster foes at +2 such as Ribombee and Mesprit. Despite its great bulk, Doublade is very slow and often forced out by Dark- and Ground-types like Guzzlord and Sandslash, as well as Charizard. Defensive checks to them, such as Eldegoss and Rest Gigalith, make for solid partners because of this. Scyther is a great partner for Doublade, being able to cripple shared checks like Charizard with Knock Off while providing Doublade opportunities to set up against its checks like Aggron. Doublade can spinblock Pokemon like Eldegoss easily, so Pokemon that take advantage of entry hazards, like Vanilluxe and Gallade, appreciate Doublade; in return, they can threaten out Pokemon like Sandaconda and Scrafty.
