Deck Knight
Blast Off At The Speed Of Light! That's Right!
EDIT: This is a pretty damn good Beginner's Guide. We won't be using these rules specifically but this is an excellent overview.
I had a thought this morning that I had to get down on paper.
A long time ago I used to go to a forum that had an Anime Style Battling League. Basically it's a text-based RPG that operates like an MMORPG with a battling engine adapted from the Anime. The key attraction is that you get to catch, train, and battle your Pokemon in more drawn out Anime Style Battles than the faster paced super-effective move = KO nature of the cartridge. These battles are facilitated by referrees who are paid for their work in the game's currency. Like the carrige games there are shops you can go to to purchase items or services to evolve your Pokemon or catch new ones like an online Safari Zone.
I had a social group for it made a long time ago, but I didn't have any manpower for it, and getting it set up is too much for any one person.
That's where CAP comes in. Since it's text-based on online, it would be very easy to implement the CAP Pokemon and all their pre-evolutions into the battling system. Not only could we shell out all the flavor details left in the background, you would be able to use the pre-evolved CAPs in battle. Naturally they would need sprites since it's standard operating procedure for referees to have images of the opposing Pokemon at the beginning of each round.
So essentially I need help getting this all set up, and I'm using this thread to try and gather interest. As far as CAP development, all we need is some topics to crystalize the data and plug it in. There are other decisions to be made on the basics of the game and we have a lot of data to compile, but I've done this before and once it is set up the first time it's very easy to implement new features.
Furthermore we can get straight into the 5th generation and its Pokemon, so I'll update my lists with that information when I get back this evening.
If you have any questions, please ask.
