Thanks, I'll be sure to look into it. I don't think I have the energy to be too too competitive with gaming anymore but having more interactions with people who share my interests is always positive.

Wow, excellent first post! You really know what's up in terms of battling, and just don't have the experience, like many others. I'd suggest checking out the Battling 101 area, for more regulated tutoring that happens every few weeks, or the mentorship program, which is what I'd recommend you get started in. Talking with mentors on irc in #mentor is a great environment to start learning things. It's a lot more informal than the tutor program, which can be difficult to get into. I'm not an OU mentor myself, but I'd strongly suggest checking it out if you're trying to get into battling more.
