Well, here we are again for another episode of Joycap theme teams! This time featuring Yui - our favorite data-pixie from SAO.

*phone rings*
Huh?
(squabbling)
What do you mean no one liked SAO?
(major rage)
Well I found it a guilty pleasure. for your information!
(high-pitched squealing)
(slamming of the phone)
*ugh, extremist fanboys...*
Sorry about that, onto the actual RMT:

Description:

As you can see by the importable - the team is a form of Balance / Semi-Stall with QD Ribombee as the win condition, supported by the 'FerroLitoc' defensive backbone showcased here. Ribombee is by no means a top-tier mon, but I have had a lot of fun using it alongside hazard stacking with Ferroseed (an underrated mon in this metagame) and Donphan (one of RUs' few viable Rapid Spinners). QD Fairium Ribombee, alongside the rest of the team, serves as an excellent setup sweeper and all around holepunch, as well as forcing many switches through it's blistering 124 base speed. Let's go into detail:

Members + Teambuilding Process:

Here, we have Ribombee - the star of the team. It was something I had thought of building a team around for a while, and so sparked this RMT. QD 3 attacks Ribombee was my first thought, and has stuck with me throughout all versions of the team to date. Then came the mental dilemma... which item? LO didn't really stick with me because of the recoil, and there was no saying if Donphan could keep hazards off the field forever - Lum Berry meant I lost a lot of power, and had little point knowing Shield Dust - Psychium would be too situational... and then it hit me: Fairium Z! A 175BP Twinkle Tackle would give me just what I needed to clean up late game, as well as a means to holepunch if the situation called for it. Here are some calcs at +1:
  • +1 252 SpA Ribombee Twinkle Tackle (175 BP) vs. 248 HP / 244 SpD Rhyperior: 393-463 (90.7 - 106.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes
  • +1 252 SpA Ribombee Twinkle Tackle (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Eviolite Gligar: 325-384 (97.3 - 114.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
  • +1 252 SpA Ribombee Twinkle Tackle (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Drapion: 298-352 (86.6 - 102.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes
  • +1 252 SpA Ribombee Twinkle Tackle (175 BP) vs. 204 HP / 0 SpD Dragalge: 288-340 (89.4 - 105.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes
  • +1 252 SpA Ribombee Twinkle Tackle (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Incineroar: 375-442 (95.1 - 112.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock and 1 layer of Spikes

However, as those like Rakan have told me, it does get walled early game by a fair bit by special walls such as Milotic and Registeel, which brings us to our next two members:

For the next stage of teambuilding, I needed a means to cover Ribombees' general weakness spread. This is where I chose the defensive core of Ferroseed and Milotic - two excellent utility pokemon in the RU tier. Both can cover for Ribombees' Steel and Rock weaknesses, while Milotic easily silences special attacking Fire types such as Torkoal; Moltres and Salazzle. On the other end, I have found Ferroseed to be a superb switchin to the likes of Dhelmise; Gligar and Bruxish, that could potentially threaten Ribombee from cleaning up.

Milotic also gives me Haze and Toxic support to wear down opposing walls and setup sweepers like Mantine; Cloyster; Doublade and the like, using Recover to keep it topped up (Scald shouldn't need explaining btw). Alongside this - Ferroseed is able to Knock Off items such as opposing Gligar Eviolite; Leftovers from various sources such as Rhyperior and Diancie, and more - to complement it's role as a Spike stacker, using Leech Seed to soften up opposing bulky mons such as Registeel; Gigalith; Umbreon and others of it's ilk.

I can't remember the exact reason AV Goodra joined the team, but through my laddering sessions - it has proven to be an excellent backup switchin to threats such as Rotom-H; Venusaur; Heliolisk and basically anything Milotic feels uncomfortable switching into. Gooey is good for pokemon such as Flygon and Feraligator, as it makes them that much easier for Ribombee to check and set up on in the process. Fire Blast and Ice Beam have also proven to help my interactions with those such as Doublade; Chesnaught and Gligar.

And now, the final stage in teambuiding. The main things I was lacking, along with proper Physical attackers, was a proper revenge killer (preferably a scarfer, so I'm not dead on arrival vs DD Feraligator; Flygon; Kommo-o etc.) and a form of hazard control. With this said, Donphan and Mixed Swellow joined the team.

Donphan first. From what I have heard, it's one of the few (aforementioned) viable Rapid Spinners in the tier - with it's ability to check Doublade and other ground-weak threats like Salazzle (again). It's also able to 1v1 other rockers like Diancie and Rhyperior, and beat them with the combination of Knock Off + STAB EQ. Not a lot to it tbh.

Finally: Swellow. And that's Mixed Scarf Swellow to you! One of THE fastest mons in the tier, with it's super spammable STAB Scrappy Boomburst, and U-turn for momentum. Heat Wave for those who think they would want to come in like Escavilier and opposing Ferroseed (maybe), and Brave Bird to dent better those that take your Boomburst.

*(+ Opposing hazard stacking.)
Hazard stackers are a bitch for this team to deal with, and if it's spinblocker is something that checks Donphan, that's a huge red flag for this team. Froslass is one of the bigger offenders off the top of my head, but there are others further down the road.

571.png

Blech, screw this thing. I've heard it's broken anyway.

407.png
003.png

I put these two in the same boat as A) they're Grass type special attackers, so Milotic doesn't want to come in, but B) a lot of sets seem to run HP Fire - so I don't want to bring Ferroseed in either. Goodra also has to be cautious of Roserades' Sleep powder, and... oh look... ANOTHER spike stacker - THIS ought to be good lol.

Chlorophyll Venu Growthing in my face also scares the crap out of me, so I often end up going straight into Goodra in that case.

579.png

Um... sorry, how am I supposed to check this thing CMing in my face AND do enough considerable damage to scare it out? Oh, right - I can't. Laaaaaaaaaaame.

EDIT: Milotic can PP stall (ironically) Electrium sets, it seems ( http://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen7rususpecttest-617113894 ). Still not fun, and the thing will probably bugger off after the suspect anyway.

-----------------------

That's all for now.
Bye all!
