.: Type Optimisation :.

Approved by G-Luke.

Ever thought looked a typing thinking "this will make a great offensive sweeper!"- only to be disappointed by poor movepool, base stats or inefficient stat spreads? Ever wondered what it's like to actually have fast Fire/Rock that takes advantage of the offensive nature of the typing? Or a pure Electric type wall? Have you had it with slow, 'defensive' Ice types? What about seeing the potential of a typing that's previously only locked into a Mega Evolution- so you couldn't use normal items?

This pet mod cycles through all possible types and type combinations as we explore the best/new stat spreads or roles that would best suit the chosen typing. It's time, for Type Optimisation!

Explore niches and the full potential of each type combination

Retype existing Pokemon and upgrade their base stats and movepools so they can thrive in the OU environment- making the best of their typings. Explore new roles or enhance their current niches- optimise these mons to take full advantage of their type!

  • Each cycle, there will be a slate of three type combinations. (For example: Rock/Ice, Rock/Fire, Rock/Normal)
  • Members take an existing Pokemon and rework their base stats, movepools and typings to create an optimised niche for the specific typing.
  • Base stat totals can be upgraded to a max of 570. That's right, upgrade your Pachirisu so it can go toe-to-toe with the OU environment by completely rearranging the BST! The idea is to be creative if all the type combos had the same BST.
  • Max number of movepool additions is 3 new moves. Will it be a coverage option, or a utility move for a new role?
  • Max number of Abilities = 3. You don't have to go with flavour- the priority is to optimise the typing!
  • Legendary signature moves are banned- unless the Pokemon you are optimising already learns the move itself. (i.e. can't give Excadrill Thousand Arrows, but if you are optimising Zygarde it's fine). However, other exclusive moves like Multi-Attack and Volt Tackle are fine.
  • On the same vein, no Legendary exclusive abilities like Delta Stream, Desolate Land, Soul-Heart, etc. This includes Beast Boost from Ultra Beasts.
  • Type changes/stat changes do not extend to Megas. For example, Altarianite will change a Dragon/Ice Altaria to a normal Mega-Altaria.

[Submission Format]
Pokemon:
Type:
xx/xx
BST: xx/xx/xx/xx/xx/xx
Abilities: (max of 3)
New Moves: (max of 3)
Removed Moves: (optional, if you don't feel it makes sense with new typing)
Justification/Niche:
Sample moveset:
(optional)

Key Notes:
  • Based on OU environment.
  • One submission per type combination.
  • If you really want to optimise Pokemon with a BST greater than 570 for some reason (ex. Kyurem) you will have to re-arrange stats to 570 and be creative with how you make them better. Perhaps a more specific stat spread/new move for a specific role that it did not have before.
  • Specific abilities will be banned- namely, legendary-exclusive abilities and form-related abilities like Schooling, Disguise, Shield Down (unless the Pokemon already has it then they can use it). Other bans include broken abilities like Huge Power, Shadow Tag and Comatose.
  • Protean is also banned for the purpose of this pet mod, because it invalidates the aim of the type combo optimisation/research.
  • Fully evolved pokemon only, as having access to the defensive powers of Eviolite skews the idea of using stats/moves to use a type to its strengths and weaknesses

I'll take a stab at this. Rock/Fire, at least on paper, seems like a typing for a glass cannon. While it has some great coverage and power with it's STAB's, it's crippling 4x weakness to common Water and Ground type moves leads it to struggle to work defensively. The only existing Rock/Fire mon, Magcargo has overall mediocre stats, and it's 30 base speed and 90 base special attack prevent it from having any real niche.

Pokemon: Magcargo
BST: 80/85/140/110/85/60
Typing: Rock/Fire
Abilities: Flash Fire/Sturdy/Weak Armor
New Moves: Power Gem
Justification/Niche: These updates enable Magcargo to become one of few special attacking Shell Smash sweepers. It may start off slow and bulky, but a single Shell Smash brings it's speed and special attack to threatening levels. With the addition of Power Gem, Magcargo sports reliable Rock, Fire, and Ground type moves. Each of the abilities Magcargo receives allows it to counter one of it's weaknesses. Flash Fire allows Magcargo to hit even bulky foes hard after switching into a fire-type move. Sturdy allows an easy setup that can withstand powerful attacks, making it harder to take Magcargo down. Weak Armor gives enough of a speed boost to outspeed even some of the fastest foes when combined with a Shell Smash boost, at the cost of an increased vulnerability to priority. Despite its strengths, Magcargo is still vulnerable to special moves, entry hazards, and priority, and oftentimes struggles to set up and sweep. Yet win it does, it can be a dangerous threat.
Magcargo @ Life Orb/Expert Belt/Focus Sash/White Herb/Mental Herb
Ability: Weak Armor
EVs: 252 SpAtk / 252 HP / 4 Def
Modest Nature
Moves:
- Shell Smash
- Flamethrower
- Power Gem
- Earth Power

The moveset is pretty self-explanatory, and I don't think there are really many better options. The rest of the set can be optimized to better fit your team. Weak Armor is a more risky move choice, but it allows Magcargo to invest more in bulk to reliably set up Shell Smash. The item largely depends whether you want more power, or more general reliability.

Rock/Normal, at least on paper, seems like a mediocre typing all around, with few defensive or offensive perks. Nevertheless, it would likely work better on something else fast, so...

Pokemon: Sudowoodo
Typing: Rock/Normal
BST: 85/120/130/65/45/115
Abilities: Rock Head/Sap Sipper/Normalize
New Moves: Coil, Quick Attack, Leech Seed
Removed Moves: Rock Polish, Swords Dance
Justification/Niche: As much sense as Sudowoodo nearly quadrupling it's speed makes, it has the new stats and tools to carve out a niche. With a blazing base 115 speed and access to Rock Head, Sudowoodo can punch holes in teams with it's access to Head Smash, Double-Edge, and Wood Hammer. It's other abilities provide new options, Sap Sipper working well to provide free switch ins and revenge kill foes, while Normalize as a fun, but generally outclassed option to spam powerful STAB. In addition, Sudowoodo has access to both Coil and Leech Seed to run a physically bulky setup set, and priority in Quick Attack and Sucker Punch. Despite this, Sudowoodo lacks the special bulk to take hits, and has trouble with steel types.

Sudowoodo @ Choice Band/Choice Scarf
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 Def
Jolly Nature
Moves:
- Head Smash
- Double Edge
- Wood Hammer
- Sucker Punch/Quick Attack

Typical physical sweeper/revenge killer set, the first three moves deal massive damage with a Choice Band boost, while the last slot provides priority. A choice scarf can be used instead to outspeed glass cannons.

Pure Rock may be a powerful offensive type, but it still has issues on defense. However, this doesn't stop bulky rock types from being successful, as they still have niches in setting up Stealth Rock and gaining special defense in Sandstorm. So, I decided to create a monster that abuses both of these traits.

Pokemon: Gigalith
Typing: Rock
BST: 80/135/150/70/100/25
Abilities: Solid Rock/Sand Stream/Sheer Force
New Moves: Drain Punch, Shore Up
Removed Moves: Curse
Justification/Niche: Essentially an extra bulky Gigalith. After gaining significant stat increases and two forms of incredibly useful recovery, Gigalith becomes a pain to take down. In addition, it's still powerful base 135 Attack allows it to run offensive sets, and it has powerful EdgeQuake coverage alongside Heavy Slam and Drain Punch. It's new abilities provide generally weaker alternative options for offensive/defensive sets on teams that don't want Sandstorm. Solid Rock allows Gigalith to focus as an all-purpose physical wall, while Sheer Force can lead to immense attack power when combined with a Life Orb. Despite its strengths, Gigalith still has many exploitable weaknesses, especially to rain teams and burns, can't set up, and struggles to fit all of its good move options into one set.

Gigalith @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpDef / 4 Def
Impish Nature
Moves:
- Rock Slide
- Earthquake/Drain Punch
- Shore Up
- Stealth Rock
Specially defensive bulky Stealth Rock setter. With it's defensive investments and stats, Gigalith makes a good lead and switch in, able to come in most of the time and reliably set up Stealth Rock. In addition, it can still deal solid damage using Rock Slide and a coverage move of choice, and stay in the battle much longer with Shore Up. Have fun knocking it out without stats.

formerly The Reptile

Pokemon:
Lycanroc-Day
Type:

BST: 75/120(+5)/60(-5)/55/60(-5)/117(+5) [BST 487]
Abilities: Keen Eye / Sand Rush / Rock Head (HA)
New Moves: Double-Edge, Wild Charge, Earthquake
Removed Moves: none
Justification/Niche: Lycanroc has always been just a bit shy off of being good - it had decent offensive stats, but its mono-typing, lack of good abilities, and bad movepool held it back. Rock / Normal is a rather quirky offensive typing, while it doesn't really work all that well defensively. It makes sense for it to be on a glass cannon like Lycanroc, and it makes sense flavor-wise to me at least. The typing itself wouldn't be enough, though. Its new access to Rock Head lets it use a powerful STAB in Double-Edge without having to worry about the recoil. It now has coverage in Earthquake and Wild Charge (which also gets its recoil ignored). It is still very much a glass cannon, having weaknesses to common priority moves such as Bullet Punch, but it has decent power and great speed.

Sample moveset

Code:
Lycanroc @ Choice Band / Life Orb
Ability: Rock Head / Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Double-Edge / Return
- Accelerock
- Earthquake / Fire Fang / Wild Charge / Swords Dance

Pokemon:
Torkoal
Type:

BST: 80(+10)/70(-15)/140/100(+15)/80(+10)/15 (-5) [BST 485]
Abilities: White Smoke / Drought / Dry Skin (HA)
New Moves: Power Gem, Shore Up, Calm Mind
Removed Moves: none
Justification/Niche: Rock / Fire is a very impressive offensive combo, so it might seem strange for something like this to be put in a defensive Pokemon like Torkoal. However, it has a few trick up its sleeve in this new form - for one, it has impressive physical bulk in 80/140 which works with its new access to Calm Mind. Dry Skin helps get around one of Rock / Fire's 2 4x weaknesses, and makes Torkoal a great answer to Water-types. However, it can still use Drought for sun-based teams, giving them a Flying-type resistance that has good synergy well with the Grass-type Chlorophyll users. I see Dry Skin being the primary ability used by this thing though, as it does wall Water-types hard with it.

Sample moveset

Code:
Torkoal @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rapid Spin
- Shore Up
- Lava Plume / Power Gem / Toxic
- Stealth Rock / Power Gem / Toxic

Pokemon:
Rampardos
Type:

BST: 82(-15)/165/60/65/50/88 (+30) [BST 510]
Abilities: Rock Head / Sheer Force (HA)
New Moves: Wild Charge, Flare Blitz, Dragon Dance
Removed Moves: none
Justification/Niche: The one thing that has been holding Rampardos back for a long time is an abysmal speed, with a relatively mediocre physical movepool not helping. Now it has a respectable 88 speed, allowing it to, at the very least, act as a wallbreaker. Rock Head lets it slam Head Smash alongside its new access to Flare Blitz and Wild Charge. Sheer Force is also a nice ability, while it has less power in Head Smash, it boosts the likes of Flare Blitz, Wild Charge, and Ice Punch or Beam. It can also try to set-up with Dragon Dance or Rock Polish, although it is rather frail so it might not work out as well. Choice Scarf is probably not a bad idea since it has a rather big 165 Attack stat.

Sample moveset

Code:
Rampardos @ Life Orb / Focus Sash / Choice Band / Choice Scarf
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Head Smash / Rock Slide
- Flare Blitz
- Wild Charge / Ice Punch / Ice Beam
- Ice Beam / Superpower / Dragon Dance / Rock Polish

Pokemon: Emboar
Type: Fire / Rock
BST: 95 (-15) / 138 (+15) / 65 / 110 (+10) / 65 / 97 (+32) (BST: 570)
Abilities: Reckless / Dazzling / Magic Guard
New Moves: Volt Tackle, High Jump Kick, Shift Gear
Justification/Niche: Emboars mighty Reckless Flare Blitz and coverage have always been noteworthily strong, but poor speed and defensive ability have doomed it to the depths of lower tiers. Now, however, improvements that blend beautiful with what's already there give him a new lease on life. Absurdly powerful STABs and coverage in Flare Blitz, Head Smash, Volt Tackle, and High Jump Kick let it blow through the tier with no regrets. It already had Wild Charge, but Head Smash outdamaged it on pure Waters, so there's that. Reckless and Magic Guard lets it use these toys with maximum ability, either further heightening their ludicruous strength or making them recoil/crash damage-free. Magic Guard also prevents crippling Life Orb/Stealth Rock/Toxic damage. Dazzling is a fun surprise on Shift Gear sets, which make you absurdly fast and versatile on forced switches, making lethal priority an uncertain option.

Destroyer of Walls/Dreams
Emboar @ Life Orb / Choice Scarf

Pokemon: Diancie
Type: Rock
BST: 60 (+10) / 100 / 150 / 90 (-10) / 150 / 20 (-30) (BST: 570)
Abilities: Sand Stream / Magic Bounce / Serene Grace
New Moves: Shore Up, U-Turn, Spikes
Justification/Niche: After the clearly offensive Fire/Rock Emboar, I decided to take a more defensive approach. The first thing that came to mind after Rock + Defense is Diamond Storm, which only Diancie gets (due to the restriction on legendary signature moves). Its great movepool works excellently with its abilities. A support movepool with hazards, Heal Bell, Screens, and extremely slow U-Turn pivoting gives plenty of options, founded on great bulk (boostable with Diamond Storm/Sand Stream respectively) and reliable recovery (boosted with Sand) in Shore Up. As icing on the cake, you have the tools, be it Bounce or offensive moves, to not be excessively passive. A diamond-tier force on the field.

Sand Support
Diancie @ Smooth Rock / Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD

Abilities: Scrappy / No Guard
New Moves: Boomburst, Power Gem, Morning Sun
Justification/Niche: Following my pure physical attacker and defensive supporter, I decided to go for something different still; a unique special attacker. Let's just say that I don't think I failed in making this Rock / Normal type sufficiently good.
Why did I choose Ninetales? I didn't pick a good user of Rock/Normal typing, but a Pokemon exceptionally skilled at patching two of combination's primary weaknesses; on offense, breaking past bulky Steels, and on defense, handling strong Fighting/Ground physical attackers.

Setup Sweeper
Ninetales @ Focus Sash / Life Orb
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe

Yes, let's try and not have legendary-exclusive abilities in this, too. Also I forgot to put an end date for submissions, so it will be 1 week from now on the 10th of May GMT+10.

For now have this:

Pokemon:
Solrock
Type: Rock/Fire
BST: 90/130/85/55/75/135
Abilities: Levitate/Magic Guard/Water Absorb
New Moves: Head Smash, Icicle Crash, Accelrock
Justification/Niche:

Hit hard and fast like a meteor! Rock/Fire is a great offensive typing, and with the new Attack and Speed boost, Solrock will be a threat thanks to Magic Guard. It is now immune to Rocks, and can use Life Orb boosted Head Smash/Flare Blitz. That said, Solrock's defensive typing is very poor so if you like switch-in opportunities, you can use either his base Levitate ability or Water Absorb to protect Solrock from Aqua Jet (and heal Rocks damage). The great thing about Fire/Rock is Solrock is now immune to burns, and will be a force to deal with if you don't have priority- specifically Mach Punch. Accelrock is an option to hit with its own priority before it falls. Icicle Crash for good coverage with Rock and to deal with Garchomps.

Sample moveset:
Solrock @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
Moves:
- Head Smash
- Accelrock
- Flare Blitz
- Earthquake/Icicle Crash

This sounds quite interesting :)

is a typing that is competitively good for offensive mons. It's defensive capabilities are average, with a weakness to Fighting, Ground, Rock and Water, and Resistances to Bug, Fairy, Fire, Flying, Ice, Normal, Poison. It really shines on offence though, with it having perfect neutral coverage. It's a very offensive based type that could do decent on defence with the correct abilities. There is a defensive option below.

Pokemon: Magcargo
Type:
/

BST: 110 (+50) / 30 (-20) / 140 (+20) / 130 (+40) / 140 (+60) / 20 (-10) (BST: 570)
Abilities: Water Absorb, Regenerator
New Moves: Power Gem, Recycle
Justification/Niche: Magcargo has insanely good bulk in the form of 110/140 bulk and Regenerator. Water Absorb allows it to ignore Water Type Moves, one of it's main weaknesses. Searing Shot and Power Gem give Magcargo an insanely good offensive presence, aswell as insane defenses. It is, however, held back by it's pitiful speed.

Edit: Adding the others. (Also, am I the only one that actually cares about logic and Flavour?)

seems very bland on paper. It's basically rock, but it gains another weakness and 1 immunity... However, when you take into account that
type pokemon have some of the largest movepools in the entire game, it doesn't seem all that bad as an averaged mon. In offences, it doesn't have the best STAB combo, however, the vast movepool of
and the Physical force of
type pokemon could combine to make a terrifying pokemon.

Pokemon
: Tauros
Type:
/

BST: 85 (+10) / 135 (+35) / 95 / 40 / 100 (+30) / 115 (+5) (BST: 570)
Abilities: Rock Head / Reckless (Intimidate)
New Moves: Head Smash, Head Charge, Swords Dance
Justification/Niche: Tauros is a mon with decent defences, and a really good offensive presence. It's held back by it's bad typing, but Rock Head and Reckless allow it to dish out serious damage with recoil moves with either No recoil, or extra damage. Intimidate allows it to become quite bulky, albeit with a lot of weaknesses. However, STAB Head Smash with no recoil is insanely strong.

Edit 2: Adding the Rock Mon

Pokemon: Rampardos
Type:

BST: 97 / 165 / 110 (+50) / 35 (-30) / 100 (+50) / 63 (+5)
Abilities: Rock Head / Sand Rush (Mold Breaker)
New Moves: Accelerock, Swords Dance, Bullet Punch
Justification/Niche: Rampardos suffers from a bad stat spread aswell as slow speed. This hinders it in it's ability to sweep. However, with this change, it can Rock Polish to outspeed a lot of mons, and it can also run Sand Rush SD to have a take on double dance. A deadly pokemon for sure

Ludicrousity Thanks for those interesting points!

That said a couple of things, I'm treating this as a slate so only one submission at a time. Also Sacred Fire is a Ho-oh/Entei legendary exclusive move, so please change it to something else.

As for custom abilities, I'm going to have to say no, this Pet Mod deals with the idea of making the best we can of the mechanics available (and even then, a Desolate land clone is still a clone of a legendary-exclusive move). Maybe replace Infernal Aura with something like Water Absorb if you're choosing to go with good old Magcargo?

Wait, so am I only allowed one of the two rock fire mons? Secondly, can I post for more of the type combos? Thirdly, didn't realise Sacred Fire was Signature, sorry. Will change it

I'm sure it's the prior case but I am not fully certain.

Pokemon: Sudowoodo
Type:

BST: 90/120/135/30/115/80 (570)
Abilities: Sap Sipper, Rock Head, Solid Rock
New Moves: Accelrock, Bulk Up, Slack Off
Removed Moves: None
Justification/Niche: This allows Sudowoodo to have insane large bulk on the Physical side while not compromising the Special bulk. It can finally make good use of Rock Polish, and got Accelrock with access for Bulk Up. It can use Slack Off in order to heal off damage from Wood Hammer (if you don't run it with Rock Head). Solid Rock will help reduce the impact from Super Effective hits.

Pokemon: Magcargo
Type:

BST: 100/60/130/120/90/70 (570)
Abilities: Storm Drain, Regenerator, Competitive
New Moves: Power Gem, Giga Drain, Toxic Spikes
Removed Moves: None
Justification/Niche: It can either be used for hazard setter, or a bulky yet Special Sweeper after a Shell Smash (with White Herb). Anything that is Ground or Water must be careful for its Giga Drain, and it got Power Gem to finally hurt Flying-types.

Pokemon: Rampardos
Type:

BST: 100/165/70/65/70/100
Abilities: Mold Breaker, Rock Head, Sheer Force
New Moves: Volt Tackle, Flare Blitz, Play Rough
Removed Moves: None
Justification/Niche: This brute will hurt a lot of you don't watch for it! It can learn both Sword Dance and Rock Polish, and just one Sword Dance will make it Attack even more powerful. While its weakness against Fighting is worsened, it got wither Zen Headbutt or Play Rough to back it up. It can run Rock Head to avoid bad recoil of Head Smash and Double-Edge, or Sheer Force to make its coverage much stronger.

Alright, to start with Rock/Fire. Since it's such a bad defensive typing, even when helped by Levitate or Water Absorb/Storm Drain, it's best as an offensive typing and can do that quite well might I add. Hitting Steel, Bug, Grass, Flying, Fire, AND Ice-types super effectively isn't shabby and most Rock-types get good coverage moves to complement it, too. Anywho:

Pokemon:
SPIT FIRE LIKE Heatmor
Type: Fire/Rock
BST: 80/107/74/120/74/115 (BST: 570)
Abilities: Gluttony / Flash Fire / Drought (HA)
New Moves: Power Gem, Earth Power, Nasty Plot
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Heatmor has a niche in being something very uncommon: a fast special Rock-type. With it's great coverage in Giga Drain/Solar Beam, Focus Blast, and the new Earth Power. Along with this, it sports the very much coveted ability, Drought, not only allowing it to spam Solar Beam, but also weaken threatening Water-type moves that might've OHKO'd it. With this, Heatmor can be a threatening Special Sweeper in the sun, nailing Pokemon left and right with it's great STABs (including the new Power Gem) and coverage. Also, if you fancy, you can try setting up a Nasty Plot to just murder everything in your path, as NOBODY wants to take a Fire Blast from that. While I could've given Heatmor Storm Drain to negate it's biggest weakness (within reason), I decided to go with just Drought as I want Heatmor to have as much as an offensive presence as possible.
The Anteater (Special Attacker):
Heatmor @ Life Orb / Choice Specs
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Flamethrower / Fire Blast
- Power Gem / Earth Power
- Solar Beam
- Nasty Plot / Earth Power / Focus Blast

Mixed:
Heatmor @ Life Orb
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Flamethrower
- Solar Beam
- Low Kick / Earth Power / Focus Blast
- Sucker Punch / Knock Off

Gimmicky Physical Fire Lash:
Heatmor @ Life Orb / Darkinium Z
Ability: Drought
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fire Lash
- Thunder Punch
- Low Kick
- Sucker Punch / Hone Claws

Next, we have Rock. This typing is not terrible defensively, with a glaring 5 weaknesses, but 4 resistances. However, the weaknesses are to many common types like Fighting, Ground, and Water. However, a defensive Rock-type is definitely possible, especially with the right ability (like Sand Stream, but I have another idea.)

Pokemon: Regirock
Type: Rock
BST: 90/100/200/35/115/30 (BST: 570 (used to be 580 lol))
Abilities: Clear Body / Water Absorb / Solid Rock (H)
New Moves: Recover, Spikes, Refresh
Removed Moves: N/A
Justification/Niche: Here we have the bulkiest setter ever. Basically, with improved bulk of 90/200/115, this thing will just take hits for days AND nights and can Recover off the damage it takes like it's nothing. From there, you can set up either Stealth Rock or some Spikes. And lastly, if you're opponent thinks they can wear you down with Toxic, you can Refresh yourself and laugh in their face. With a new ability in Water Absorb, Regirock is also no longer weak to the common Water-type, also limiting it's worries, or you can use the possibly broken Solid Rock and tank super effective moves quite well.
Refreshing Hazards (Specially Defensive):
Regirock @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb / Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD

- Stone Edge
- Recover
- Spikes / Stealth Rock

Pokemon: Crustle
Type: Fire/Rock
BST: 110/110/110/60/110/70 (BST: 570)
Abilities: Flame Body / Shell Armor / HA: Tough Claws
New Moves: Fire Lash
Removed Moves: None
Justification/Niche: It's red-ish so ha it's a fire type. Sadly, Tough Claws doesn't boost Stone Edge, but it does boost its new move- Fire Lash. Which is very nice. Its not a very good mon at first glance, but it gets Shell Smash, which, if you slap a sash or such on it, will make it an extremely powerful sweeper. It's typing is poor defensively, but it still has nice defensive stats, so if they don't really have anything super effective, it won't do a bunch, and those stats might also let it live a couple waterfalls or eqs depending on what's using it. of course, you can still use White Herb, but myself, I've never liked White Herb.

Pokemon: Golem
Type: Rock
BST: 60/125/255/5/125/5 (BST: 570)
Abilities: Sturdy / Solid Rock
New Moves: Shore Up, Rock Wrecker, U-Turn
Removed Moves: None
Justification/Niche: Who says Rock can't be a good defensive typing? It has among defensive stats, not the greatest defensive typing but it's still nice. Also, I made it a literal "Rock" having the lowest speed, cuz know, rocks don't move, 5 special attack cuz rocks can't shoot laser beams, and 255 defense because rocks are sturdy. It has Shore Up for nice recovery, and 125 attack allows it to actually do some damage. Overall, this is a super defensive mon that you'll have a great time trying to kill! :D
Sample moveset: None

Ludicrousity Sorry, Searing Shot is a Victini exclusive move too, so you have to change it. Also usually I would be all for flavour as well but the idea is to optimise the Pokemon to enhance the typing as much as possible, since Gamefreak sometimes doesn't give a mon the right moves (or a typing has poor physical move options for example).

Also friendly reminder submissions end tomorrow.

New Moves: Extremespeed, Head Smash, Accelrock
Justification/Niche:

I think Rock/Normal should be of a fast Rock type build. The added x4 Fighting weakness is unfortunate, and it is severely weak to Mach Punch, however, Dazzling (he has a 'dazzling' afro!) remedies this somewhat. With the addition of Extremespeed, it can function as a dangerous cleaner depending on the ability. Dazzling prevents priority revenge kills, Reckless adds power to head Charge/Head Smash/Wild Charge while Tinted Lens solves the problem of being walled by Steels. Offensively, Rock has great super effective coverage, and Normal has pretty decent neutral coverage, so Tinted Lens + STABs can be potent, especially with access to Accelrock/Extremespeed or Head Charge/Head Smash. Swords Dance can be dangerous if it has the opportunity to set it up with Tinted Lens.

Sample moveset:
Bouffalant @ Life Orb/Choice Band
Ability: Tinted Lens/Dazzling
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
Moves:
- Head Smash
- Accelrock
- Extremespeed
- Earthquake

Pokemon:
Bastiodon
Type: Rock
BST: 60/50/120/135/100/105
Abilities: Sand Force/Sand Rush/Sand Stream
New Moves: Shore Up, Calm Mind, Power Gem
Justification/Niche:

Bastiodon surprisingly has a very good special movepool, unfortunately held back by....a lot of things (Speed, HP, Offense, etc.). So here is a fast, special attacking Rock type that is reliant on Sandstorm enhancements. Power Gem is the obligatory special Rock move and has the bonus of being accurate, unlike many Rock type moves. Its base power is enhanced by a Special Attack stat comparable to Porygon-Z, and great coverage with Earth Power, Fire Blast for Steels and Boltbeam. Sand Force/Sand Rush makes it a ferocious Sand Sweeper with the added Special Defense boost. Shore Up also makes it annoying to face in Sand, so you better change the weather when this mon is on the field.

Sample moveset:
Bastiodon @ Life Orb/Choice Specs
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Spe / 4 Def
Modest Nature
Moves:
- Power Gem
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam
- Fire Blast/Thunderbolt

Pokemon: Typhlosion
Type: Fire/Rock
BST: 78/84/78/130/85/115
Abilities: Blaze/Drought/Magic Guard
New Moves: Ancient Power, Power Gem, Earth Power
Justification/Niche: Finally, a Drought abuser that doesn't take up the team's Mega Slot! With great 115 Speed and respectable 130 Special Attack before items, it hits like a truck, and has an answer to pretty much every other opposing weather setter. Pelliper? Power Gem. Tyranitar? Focus Blast. Alolan Ninetails? Pretty much any Fire-type STAB. It even has Solar Beam to nail opposing Water-types! Of course, Water-type moves will still hurt it a lot even through drought, and it fears pretty much all Ground-type moves. Oh, it also has Eruption and Magic Guard if you want to capitalize on that, I guess.

Sample set:
Typhlosion @ Life Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 4 Def/252 SpA/252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Blast
- Power Gem
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast / Earth Power

Typhlosion @ Choice Specs
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 Def/252 SpA/252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Eruption
- Power Gem
- Hidden Power Grass
- Focus Blast / Earth Power

EDIT: Whoops, put Drought on the Eruption set instead of Magic Guard.
