VGC Tinkaton

[OVERVIEW]

* Tinkaton is primarily a bulky attacker, but it also has an amazing defensive typing and Fake Out, giving it good defensive utility.

* Tinkaton does extremely well into Murkrow teams and, Pokemon commonly run on those teams like: Annihilape, Hydreigon, Meowscarada, Maushold, and of course, Murkrow itself. This makes it a very good partner for Dondozo + Tatsugiri teams, which feel pressured by Murkrow's Haze. Though many of the aforementioned Pokemon are also very often run on teams without Murkrow, so Tinkaton still functions as a good check.

* Mold Breaker + Fake Out Tinkaton does well against dedicated Trick Room teams because its Fake Out bypasses Oranguru's Inner Focus and Farigiraf's Armor Tail, and it can OHKO Mimikyu through Disguise.

* Tinkaton struggles with the extremely common Fire-Types, as well as Garchomp ans Steel-Types that wall it entirely, like Corviknight and Scizor. Water-types help deal with the majority of its counters, especially Rotom-Wash.

[SET]
name: Bulky Attacker
move 1: Gigaton Hammer
move 2: Play Rough
move 3: Knock Off / Swords Dance / Protect
move 4: Fake Out / Protect
item: Assault Vest / Sitrus Berry
ability: Mold Breaker / Own Tempo
nature: Adamant
tera type: Steel
evs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]

* Knock Off hits Pokemon that resist both its STAB moves like Gholdengo, Armarouge, and Ceruledge and can cripple Pokemon with the item removal, especially Dondozo.

* Tinkaton has many opportunities to use Swords Dance, especially because opponents will often double Protect in front of it, expecting a Fake Out or Gigaton Hammer. It's also a good move to use on the Gigaton Hammer recharge turns.

* Assault Vest turns Tinkaton into a sponge against special attackers, which helps against common Pokemon such as Hydreigon and Gholdengo.

* Sitrus Berry lets Tinkaton run Protect, which helps it stall out Gigaton Hammer recharge turns. This also pairs well with Swords Dance, which is similarly convenient to have on the recharge turns.

* Mold Breaker is mainly good when used with Fake Out, as the ability lets Tinkaton Fake Out Dragonite, Farigiraf, and Oranguru. It also bypasses Mimikyu's Disguise.

* Own Tempo is valuable because there are multiple good Intimidate users, Arcanine, Gyarados, as well as Paldean Tauros-A, Paldean Tauros-B, and Salamence. If you're not very worried about dedicated Trick Room teams or Dragonite, this is a good way to improve your matchup against bulkier teams.

* Tera Steel is by far the best Tera type for Tinkaton, as it makes Gigaton Hammer very powerful and even does good damage to targets that resist it. For example, it 2HKOes maximum HP Talonflame.

[OVERVIEW]

* Tinkaton has easily the best typing in the game, allowing it to deal with many important pokemon both defensively and offensively like Murkrow, Meowscarada and Hydreigon. (While I agree its typing is the best, better to avoid the subjective and unnecessary flavor. Listing Murkrow, Meowscarada, and Hydreigon is also somewhat redundant since you do it later)

* Tinkaton is very flexible in what roles it can fill due to its great defensive typing, tools that can be used in a more supportive way like Knock Off and Fake Out and Gigaton Hammer is very strong offensively, even having the Swords Dance option to boost its offensive presence more.(What roles is it flexible in? and is this area really important to have the way it's?)

* Tinkaton does extremely well into Murkrow teams simply by having a good matchup against pokemon commonly run on those teams like: annihilape, hydreigon, meowscarada, maushold and of course murkrow itsself Annihilape, Hydreigon, Meowscarada, Maushold, and Murkrow itself.(Grammar) This makes it a very good partner for Dondozo + Tatsugiri teams who feel pressured by Murkrow's Haze.

Tinkaton can also do well into hard dedicated(I think this is less gamer slangy) Trick Room teams when running the combination of Mold Breaker and Fake Out because it bypasses abilities like Oranguru's Inner Focus, Farigiraf's Armor Tail and it can Gigaton Hammer Mimikyu through its Disguise ability.

* Common Tinkaton checks include: Arcanine with its Intimidate ability if Tinkaton isn't running Own Tempo and its typing walling both its STAB's, Torkoal simply due to the type matchup and Torkoal's naturally high defense, Garchomp because Tinkaton takes a lot from Earthquake, Gholdengo if Tinkaton doesn't have Knock Off, Armarouge because of the pressure Armor Cannon has on Tinkaton and Armarouge often playing in Trick Room, Talonflame due to the typing and Will-O-Wisp, same for Rotom-Wash who takes effectively nothing from Gigaton Hammer and commonly runs Will-O-Wisp. Volcorona, Skeledirge and Rotom-Heat also do well against it though a bit less common. (This area can be a lot more
coherent. All of the Fire-types obviously threaten Tinkaton, we don't need to talk about each of them separately, or even all of them. )

[SET COMMENTS]

* Gigaton Hammer is a powerful STAB, that hits Pokemon like Sylveon, Grimmsnarl, (AC) and Tyranitar for huge amounts of damage, making it well worth the drawback.

* Play Rough does really well against common Pokemon in the meta like Hydreigon, Garchomp, Murkrow and many more. Because of the STAB bonus iIt's also the strongest move to click against neutral targets on Gigaton Hammer recharge turns.

* Knock Off hits Pokemon that resist both its stabs like Gholdengo, Armarouge and Ceruledge well and can cripple Pokemon with the item removal, especially Dondozo.

* Swords Dance is good because it heightens the offensive pressure exerted by Tinkaton and opponents will often double Protect in front of Tinkaton because of the Fake Out pressure and forcing Gigaton Hammer into recharge if it comes out, which gets punished extremely hard by using Swords Dance. It's also a good move to click on the Gigaton Hammer recharge turns.

* Assault Vest helps again common pokemon against common Pokemon like Hydreigon and Gholdengo, thanks to Tinkaton's naturally high Special Defense stat, turning it into a sponge against special attacks.

* Sitrus Berry is nice if you want the option to Protect which is good for the Gigaton Hammer recharge turn or Swords Dance which makes its Gigaton Hammers even scarier.

* Steel Tera is just by far the best Tera Type for Tinkaton, making its Gigaton Hammers very powerful even doing good damage to targets that resist it.(An example of this power would be good)

Tinkaton can be mediocre when it comes to its base stats, but it can be put to good use. He has good defenses.

Is it crazy to put Covert Cloak / LO as other options? With the first you can surprise vs. Hariyama's Fake Out and hit with Play Rough. LO simply under TR can be useful too.

And Baby Doll Eyes or Helping Hand? Both have high priority and can be useful as support. The first allows you to lower the attack and the second you have 50% power on the partner you choose.
I would say Baby Doll Eyes just isn't the best move in general and a lot of Pokemon get access to Helping Hand while Tinkaton really needs its moveslots. Life Orb doesn't really work for Tinkaton because its attack stat is just very low. I feel like Covert Cloak is a niche item in general and Tinkaton doesn't really have anything that makes it a great user of it, especially since it can Fake Out first. So im problaby sticking with this.

Just want one last look before this goes to GP
[OVERVIEW](Bracket)

* Tinkaton though primarily a bulky attacker, can also fill the role of a pivot thanks to its amazing defensive typing, and naturally solid defensive stats.(I think pivot is generally connotated with pivot moves, so let's avoid that. Maybe just smth like it's a bulky attacker with an amazing defensive typing, fake out, and a powerful Gigaton Hammer)

* Tinkaton does extremely well into Murkrow teams, having a good matchup against Pokemon commonly run on those teams like: Annihilape, Hydreigon, Meowscarada, Maushold and of course Murkrow itsself(Itself has one s. I also think it's really worth mentioning that these are very relevant Pokemon outside of Murkrow teams). This makes it a very good partner for Dondozo + Tatsugiri teams who feel pressured by Murkrow's Haze.

Tinkaton also does well into dedicated Trick Room teams when running the combination of Mold Breaker and Fake Out because it bypasses abilities like Oranguru's Inner Focus, Farigiraf's Armor Tail and it can Gigaton Hammer Mimikyu through its Disguise ability.

* Tinkaton struggles with Fire types which there are quite many of, but also with Garchomp, and with Steel types that it has a hard time hitting like Corviknight and Scizor. (Think it'd be good to mention some answers to these)

* Gigaton Hammer is a powerful STAB, that hits Pokemon like Sylveon, Grimmsnarl, and Tyranitar for huge amounts of damage, making it worth the drawback.

* Play Rough does well against common Pokemon in the meta like Hydreigon, Garchomp, Murkrow and many more. It's also the strongest move to click against neutral targets on Gigaton Hammer recharge turns.(I know I didn't say this earlier but we don't need to explain obvious STAB move choices)

* Knock Off hits Pokemon that resist both its stabs like Gholdengo, Armarouge and Ceruledge well and can cripple Pokemon with the item removal, especially Dondozo.

* Swords Dance is good because Tinkaton has many opportunities to click it, especially because opponents will often double Protect in front of it, expecting a Fake Out or Gigaton Hammer. It's also a good move to click on the Gigaton Hammer recharge turns.

* Assault Vest helps against common Pokemon like Hydreigon and Gholdengo, and thanks to Tinkaton's naturally high Special Defense stat, it turns into a sponge against special attacks.(Maybe like "Assault Vest turns Tinkaton into a sponge against Special Attackers, which helps against common Pokemon like Hydreigon and Gholdengo")

* Sitrus Berry gives the option to Protect which is particularly useful on Gigaton Hammer recharge turns. This also pairs well with Swords Dance which is similarly convenient to have on the the recharge turns. This makes Tinkaton's Gigaton Hammer especially threatening.(Is "this" Swords Dance here? I think it's obvious that Swords Dance makes Gigaton Hammer a lot more threatening and wouldn't need to be said)

* I forgot about this but abilities should be talked bout.

* Steel Tera is just by far the best Tera Type for Tinkaton, making its Gigaton Hammers very powerful even doing good damage to targets that resist it. For example it gets the 2HKO on Max HP Talonflame.

* Tinkaton though primarily a bulky attacker, also has an amazing defensive typing and access to fake out, giving it good defensive utility.
There should not be a "though" here because there shouldn't be a contrast
Though many of the earlier mentioned Pokemon are also often run on teams without Murkrow, so Tinkaton still functions as a good check.
Think very often would be accurate? Up to you

* Own Tempo is valuable because there are multiple good Intimidate users: Arcanine, Gyarados, but also Tauros-A, Tauros-B, and Salamence. If you're not very worried about dedicated Trick Room teams or Dragonite, this is a good way to increase your matchup against bulkier teams.
I think it's "Paldean Tauros-A" etc. I imagine Paldean Tauros forms would be acceptable too
