Project Ultra SM Break This Team - WK 48 SKEs tail glow manaphy Rain (Voting)

Alakazam-Mega @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 1 Atk
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Tapu Lele @ Tapunium Z
Ability: Psychic Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nature's Madness
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Taunt/Hidden Power [Fire]

So this team really has no means of dealing with Tapu Lele. This set in particular has been rising a bit in popularity because it pretty much brings down any check for Tapu Lele. In this case it brings Magearna down to 25% and then dies to psyshock. Once Magearna dies Lele and Mega Alakazam just run town. Specs Lele could also work for this set, but this set is more effective with this core specefically

This team’s only real means of dealing with Scarf Tapu Lele on a consistent basis is falling back onto Magearna to keep it in check; therefore, having a means of luring and weakening it puts this team under a huge amount of pressure. While Gengar doesn’t strictly eliminate it, Magearna is also one of the team’s only ways of really keeping Gengar under pressure defensively, which in turn means it will commonly find itself switching directly into Gengar too. Gengar capitalises on this by hitting it with Knock Off and then chunks Magearna for 50% with Never-Ending Nightmare. This means that Magearna is no longer able to keep the core under pressure defensively as it can no longer switch into Shadow Ball or HP Fire without being 2HKOed from its remaining health. Means that the team gets ravaged from there, especially with Spikes support.

Fighting types in general really frustrate this team since lando doesn't have lefties for recovery. Once you trap the Lati, scarf keld rips through the rest by just clicking fighting move. Magearna can only switch in once before getting 2hkoed the next time it comes in seeing as sword does about 35.

3 nice cores. I like it. Single mons can be posted to. I'll give this another day or so before I set up voting. Theres a few things that I've seen which nobody here seems to have picked up on.

Description: The combo of kyurem-b and tapu koko ravishes this team. Kyurem-b in terrain basically gets a kill everytime its in because magearna isn't a switch-in (2hkoed by fusion bolt). tapu koko's only switch-in is magearna and beats most of the team with its stab plus hp ice. ik lopunny-mega beats this core but but if this core is paired with speed control or a lopunny-mega check, this team is beat by that trio of pokemon.
One calc: 4 Atk Life Orb Teravolt Kyurem-Black Fusion Bolt vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Magearna in Electric Terrain: 199-235 (54.6 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

I'm going with Choice scarf Tapu Lele + Ghostium Gengar. Nothing on this team enjoys switching into gengar and Ghostium give's it a onetime unresisted nuke vs the entire team save for ash gren who lets face it is fairly frail and will wait for a clean switch. Only real way for them to beat genggar is revenge killing via Lopunny or Scarf Latios. Scarf Lele takes care of both while stoping ash grens Priority and revenging it. Both also have fantastic offensive synergy

Time for voting is over. The winner is Martin with his Tapu lele + Ghostium Gengar Core. Marking his first entry into the Archive.

This Weeks team will be a varient of the ever popular Electric Seed Hawlucha + Koko squad built by ThiccTornadus and Borrowed from the team building competion thread. Hawlucha is fantastic in the meta right now and the Tapus in conjunction with seeds have given the acorobatic bird new tools to utilise SUMO. Not only that the 2 have fantastic offensive synergy that let them bypass eachothers checks. Also for fun theres a Dragon/Fairy/Steel Core Backbone for handling everything else. Anyway here is the team.

Explanation:
Hawlucha was the main focus of this team as ofc. that's what this week is all about, just the standard moveset, Acrobatics and High Jump Kick are Hawlucha's STAB of choice because they hit very hard especially coming from a +2 Hawlucha, Stone Edge is used for coverage as my team can really struggle vs Zapdos. Tapu Koko activates Electric Terrain which Hawlucha can take advantage of, It has great synergy with Hawlucha because all Spex Koko checks get completely smashed by Hawlucha. Landorus-Therian offers rocks for my team as well as a powerfull nuke with Z-Stone Edge which Hawlucha greatly appreciates; having Skarmory/Celesteela removed from the game. Ferrothorn can setup Spikes for Hawlucha to net some KO's as well as spreading Leech Seeds, given EV spread lets it avoid a 2hko by Ash Greninja. Heatran gives me a much needed Fire immunity and an Ice Resist, can also beat very annoying mons with Magma Storm and Earth Power. Mega Latias was the mega off choice because it offers great utility for this team with BoltBeam and Defog.

Lets see some cores and single mons people. Lets break this team in as many ways possible. Goodluck

Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Ice Beam
- Fusion Bolt
- Hidden Power Fire
- Roost

The only Pokemon that outspeeds Kyurem-B in this team is Tapu Koko, who has the disadvantage of needing to lock itself into Dazzling Gleam to KO Kyurem-B. Meanwhile, Kyurem-B can dent almost everything with Ice Beam, Hidden Power Fire and Fusion Bolt, especially with the support of Electric Terrain (since Koko is a good partner for Kyu-B). Hawlucha can threaten to OHKO Kyurem-B after the Unburden boost but if it comes out too early, it risks wasting the chance to sweep and the Kyu-B user can switch out.

Volcarona @ Buginium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Bug Buzz
- Hidden Power Ground

AKA "Dude, where's my scarf?"

This fairly standard Volcarona set blows the team back at +1. Provided Fire Blast hits, of course, but still. Calc wall incoming.
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 104 HP / 0 SpD Hawlucha: 403-475 (124.7 - 147%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Koko: 349-412 (124.1 - 146.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 333-393 (104.3 - 123.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Volcarona Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 208+ SpD Ferrothorn: 496-588 (140.9 - 167%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Hidden Power Ground vs. 212 HP / 0 SpD Heatran: 384-456 (102.1 - 121.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Volcarona Bug Buzz vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 320-378 (87.9 - 103.8%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

You generally won't need to use your Z-move -- the two things you might want it to reliably break through, Tapu Koko and Mega Latias, are setup fodder and die to a +2 move anyways. If Landorus-T has taken a certain amount of residual damage, however, it becomes your best option for eliminating that mon:

+1 252 SpA Volcarona Savage Spin-Out (175 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 264-312 (82.7 - 97.8%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

So, a bit more than Stealth Rock's worth of damage on Lando-T and you're good to go.

This team's way of revenge killing Volcarona is Hawlucha, which does indeed outspeed and OHKO with Acrobatics under Electric Terrain at +1. So ideally, you manage this by eliminating Hawlucha first, but it's not like late-game cleaners are easy to lure out. So you need two Quiver Dances to outspeed it even after the Unburden boost. Fortunately, the team gives it two options to do that: Mega Latias and Tapu Koko. If Volcarona got to +1, it can outspeed and set up its second QD on either.

0 SpA Latias-Mega Thunderbolt vs. +2 0 HP / 4 SpD Volcarona: 42-50 (13.5 - 16%) -- possible 7HKO
252 SpA Choice Specs Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. +2 0 HP / 4 SpD Volcarona in Electric Terrain: 129-153 (41.4 - 49.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Now, if the opponent is playing well, they won't bother sending Mega Latias in, but the beautiful thing here is that sending in Tapu Koko is a prerequisite to revenge killing Volcarona with Hawlucha. So if Electric Terrain isn't up when Volcarona starts to set up, they will be forced to send in Tapu Koko, and you will be given the opportunity to set up a second Quiver Dance even if you've taken Stealth Rock damage! Naturally you need to avoid Ferrothorn's Leech Seed damage and all that but whatever. My favorite part of this is that at +2, you can even secure the 100% OHKO on Koko:

+2 252 SpA Volcarona Hidden Power Ground vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Koko: 340-400 (120.9 - 142.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Support: Hazard removal is a given and requires no elaboration. Volcarona needs to be on the field and have a free turn to do any of the things I mentioned. Mega Latias is its best setup fodder, so something that MLati would be tempted to switch in on is great. Something like HP Ice Lando-T, which the team doesn't -quite- relish switching in on otherwise and can U-Turn out, fits the bill there. Another option is finding a way to lock Koko into Dazzling Gleam or HP Ice, either of which Volcarona can easily set up on; any Ground-type will fit the bill here, as would Kyurem-Black (which, as mentioned above, is threatening in its own right). If you're feeling confident, Ferrothorn is another option for setup -- come in on anything except Leech Seed, hope they don't stay into click Leech Seed vs. you. Or just wait until late enough in the game where you don't care if they do.

Tapu Koko @ Fairium Z
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power Fire
- Calm Mind

Calm Mind Tapu Koko can be a huge nuisance for his team, and unlike many of the sweepers that have been mentioned earlier, it doesn't get revenge killed by Hawlucha. This thing outspeeds the entire team bar Hawlucha with its unburden active and speed ties with Tapu Koko, and smacks everything for really solid damage at +1. However, this should be paired with a bulkier Ground-type like Gastrodon or something so that you can wear down Heatran by forcing it to switch out and take hazard damage as well as not having to risk speed ties vs the opposing Tapu Koko. Obviously this thing doesn't lead off and sweep the team right away, but it's a fantastic threat for this team to deal with.
+1 252 SpA Tapu Koko Twinkle Tackle (160 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-Therian: 379-447 (118.8 - 140.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Tapu Koko Twinkle Tackle (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Latias-Mega: 444-524 (121.9 - 143.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+1 252 SpA Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 212 HP / 0 SpD Heatran in Electric Terrain: 253-298 (67.2 - 79.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Tapu Koko Hidden Power Fire vs. 252 HP / 208+ SpD Ferrothorn: 212-252 (60.2 - 71.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Tapu Koko Dazzling Gleam vs. 0 HP / 4 SpD Tapu Koko: 199-235 (70.8 - 83.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Tapu Koko Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Hawlucha in Electric Terrain: 780-918 (262.6 - 309%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Time for Nominations is over. Voting will now begin. Ultra Sumo is out so I can understand distractions. Lets get voteing done so I can set up a naga + Lopunny team because I really dont think that combo backed by support is legitmantly checkable in a competive setting but for now voting.

Nominations:
Kyurem Black
Volcarona
Tapu Koko
Gengar

Since theres only 4 nominations you may only vote once and not for your own nomination. Good luck and see you all soon back in australia

Volcarona teams lure or trap the check its set cannot beat, and then it sweeps accordingly. A well-played Volcarona will find opportunities to sweep effortlessly vs this team, so voting Volcarona.
