[OVERVIEW]

Even though Silvally-Steel bears a nice set of resistances, well-rounded stats, and the functionality of a Defogger that can pivot, its passivity and lack of any recovery options make it a lackluster choice that requires immense team support to function. Furthermore, Silvally-Steel struggles to use Defog against entry hazard setters with better matchups or super effective coverage moves such as Steelix, Rhydon, Mega Glalie, and Druddigon, and its typing can leave it vulnerable to common threats like Passimian, Incineroar, and Braviary. Because of all of this, Pokemon like Dhelmise, Rotom, and Blastoise are preferred options for entry hazard removal thanks to their improved longevity, better offensive presences, or utility options like Will-O-Wisp and Scald.

[SET]
name: Defog
move 1: Defog
move 2: Flamethrower
move 3: Toxic / Multi-Attack
move 4: U-turn / Parting Shot
item: Steel Memory
ability: RKS System
nature: Calm
evs: 252 HP / 196 SpD / 60 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]

This set allows Silvally-Steel to function as a Defogger that can generate momentum by pivoting out of poor matchups; it can also utilize its typing and bulk to periodically switch into Pokemon such as Comfey and Choice-locked Aerodactyl while being able to easily remove Toxic Spikes set by Weezing and defensive Garbodor. Flamethrower and Toxic are also nice options that can wear down switch-ins like Steelix and Incineroar. However, Silvally-Steel's inability to hold Leftovers or a pinch Berry makes it unable to recover health on its own, and its poor offensive presence allows various wallbreakers and setup sweepers like Magmortar and Scrafty to take advantage of it.

Because of all of this, Pokemon like Golbat and Blastoise (yeah we're not mentioning Defog Golbat before more common forms of removal like Dhelmise and Rotom) are preferred options for entry hazard removal thanks to their improved longevity, better defensive typings, and utility options like Taunt and Scald.

This set allows Silvally-Steel to function as a Defogger that can use momentum to pivot out of poor matchups; it can also utilize its typing and bulk to periodically switch into Pokemon such as Choice-locked Aerodactyl and Whimiscott (Comfey) while Flamethrower and Toxic can wear down switch-ins like Steelix and Incineroar. (should probably also mention how it can really easily come in versus the two Toxic Spike setters in the tier. it straight up walls Garbodor lacking Stomping Tantrum and only really fears Will-O-Wisp from Weezing) Ultimately, its inability to hold a recovery item leaves it quickly worn down (its inability to recover its own health period holds it back), and its poor offensive presence allows various wallbreakers and setup sweepers, like Magmortar and Scrafty, to take advantage of it.

Even though Silvally-Steel bears a nice set of resistances, well-rounded stats, and the functionality of a Defogger that can pivot, its passivity, lack of any recovery, and limited utility options (I mean, Defogging + pivoting + Toxic Spikes immunity isn't really limited. I'd just focus on its passivity and lack of recovery) make it a lackluster choice that requires immense team support to function.
