Silvally

QC
:[1/3] - dodmen
GP:[0/1]

[OVERVIEW]

* Silvally carves out a niche in UU with access to Swords Dance and Explosion, giving it potential as a potent Z-move user.
* Silvally sports 95 across all of its base stats, giving it useable bulk and offensive prowess.
* Its incredibly shallow movepool greatly holds it back offensively. In addition, the Memory items that allow silvally to change its type give no meaninful boost to its offensive capabilities.
* Normal-typing also doesn't provide much on the defensive spectrum, giving it only one useful immunity on Ghost, while also having weaknesses to common Fighting-type Pokemon such as Cobalion and Keldeo.
* However, Silvally's 95/95/95 bulk is above average for an offensive Pokemon, giving it the ability to stomach a plethora of neutral hits.

Moves
========

* Swords Dance gives Silvally a means of doubling its average Attack stat, giving it considerable power after a single boost.
* Return is Silvally's most reliable STAB move, being able to deal consistent damage with no drawbacks.
* Double-Edge is an alternative option for Silvally, allowing it to deal more damage with its STAB at the cost of taking recoil damage.
* Flame Charge allows Silvally to act as a psuedo-double dance sweeper, as well as allowing it to deal significant damage to Scizor.
* Explosion gives Silvally a move to abuse as a Z-move. Thanks to Normalium Z, it can serve as an extremely powerful nuke twice in a game.

Set Details
========

* Maximum investment in Attack and Speed give Silvally the most potent offensive prowess possible.
* Normalium Z is Silvally's item of choice, as it allows Explosion to become a 200 BP Breakneck Blitz, a high-power nuke that doesn't KO Silvally in return.
* A Jolly Nature will ensure Silvally outspeeds other common offensive Pokemon such as Krookodile and Nidoking.

Usage Tips
========

* Silvally works best when it opens holes in opposing teams to allow its teammates to sweep more easily.
* Silvally can find opportunity to use Swords Dance against frail offensive Pokemon that it threatens, such as Nidoking and Primarina. Fairly aggressive prediction is necessary to set up in the face of strong offensive Pokemon without being heavily punished.
* Silvally is vunerable to all forms of entry hazards, and has no useful resistances barring its Ghost immunity. This makes it somewhat weak defensively, so one should be careful when attempting to bring it in, as bringing it in recklessly can often severely weaken it.

Team Options
========

* Silvally makes a good partner for sweepers such as Hone Claws Mega Aerodactyl, Calm Mind Raikou, and Swords Dance + Rock Polish Cobalion. These Pokemon appreciate Silvally's ability to break bulky physical walls such as Scizor, Hippowdon, and Swampert.
* A Pursuit user is a necessary teammate for Silvally, as it will be unable to deal significant damage to the opposing team as long as a healthy Ghost-type remains. Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Absol, Krookodile, and Bisharp can all fill this role effectively.
* Bulky Pokemon that can sponge Fighting-type attacks throughout a game make good partners for Silvally as well. Slowbro and Slowking are among the most potent as they counter Keldeo and Cobalion, though partners such as Clefable are viable as well.
* Entry hazard removers such as Starmie and Latias make good partners for Silvally as well. Silvally's decent bulk is often mitigated by multiple layers of entry hazards, and removing them allows Silvally to utilize its bulk to its full potential.

Other Options
=============
* Silvally has seemingly decent support options in Parting Shot and Thunder Wave. However its Normal typing leaves much to be desired defensively, while running a Memory item eliminates the possibility of running Leftovers, serverely crippling it as a defensive Pokemon, as its only form of recovery otherwise is Rest.
* Shadow Claw is an option that allows Silvally to nail Ghost-type Pokemon super effectively. However, this removes its ability to hit Steel types with Flame Charge, as well as negates its ability to boost its Speed.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Ghost-types**: Ghost-types such as Gengar and Doublade stop Silvally from doing significant damage to their team, thanks to their immunity to Normal-type moves. Chandelure and Jellicent in particular both stop Silvally's Normal-type attacks while being immune or resistant to Flame Charge.

**Fighting-types**: Fighting-type Pokemon such as Cobalion and Keldeo threaten to KO Silvally with strong super effective STAB attacks. Despite being a Steel-type, Cobalion can take multiple unboosted Flame Charges from Silvally and will always force it out even at +2. Infernape and Conkeldurr can also KO Silvally with a strong Mach Punch with a small amount of prior damage.

**Rock-types**: Rock-type Pokemon such as Gigalith and Mega Aerodactyl resist any move that Silvally has, either defeating Silvally in a one-on-one scenario or heavily weakening it to the point where it can no longer sweep or wallbreak effectively.

**Steel-types**: Steel-type Pokemon such as Empoleon and Doublade resist Silvally's STAB attacks and take little damage from even super effective Flame Charge and will be able to wear it down with relative ease.

**Faster Pokemon**: Strong Offensive Pokemon that sit above 95 base Speed such as Cobalion, Hydreigon, and Mew can deny it any setup opportunities, and can comfortably revenge kill Silvally without both Attack and Speed boosted.

**Residual damage**: Silvally is susceptible to all forms of entry hazards, as well as all status conditions. Being taking entry hazard damage as well as being burned, poisoned, or paralyzed will quickly wear Silvally down.

I'm not QC (nor do I even play UU), but since all different Silvally formes have a different page on the dex, they'll all be getting different analysis I think (obviously not necessarily for UU, but bear with me). As such, I don't think you should mention the Memories in OO, since they turn Silvally into 'a different Pokemon' as far as analyses are concerned.

252 Atk Silvally Flame Charge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Scizor: 180-212 (64 - 75.4%)

Change to "do significant damage to Scizor". Add Steel types to C&C. QC 1/3
