RU Quagsire

[OVERVIEW]

Quagsire is a staple on stall, as its ability Unaware paired with its decent physical bulk allows it to check some of the tier's most threatening sweepers such as Flygon, Feraligatr, Cloyster, Doublade, and Snorlax, as well as various other physical attackers in the tier. Quagsire's bulk is limited, however, and strong physical attackers such as Adamant Bewear can 2HKO Quagsire with two strong STAB moves or a well-timed Z-Move. Most special sweepers and attackers can also break through Quagsire thanks to its relatively poor special bulk. Quagsire also is left susceptible to Pokemon that can use Grass-type moves due to its 4x weakness, allowing breakers such as Swords Dance Decidueye and Nasty Plot Salazzle with Hidden Power Grass to bypass it. Lastly, Quagsire can be pressured by double switches with entry hazards up, especially Toxic Spikes, as chip damage quickly renders it incapable of switching into the STAB moves of the Pokemon it is supposed to counter.

Moves
========

Scald provides Quagsire with a spammable STAB move that has a chance to punish switch-ins such as Mega Abomasnow and Decidueye with a burn and can be used to try to cripple a Pokemon that would otherwise be able to beat Quagsire one-on-one, such as Bewear. Earthquake provides Quagsire with a secondary STAB move capable of hitting many Pokemon harder than Scald, which also avoids inadvertently spreading burns when suboptimal, such as against bulky Pokemon like Porygon2 and Milotic. Recover allows Quagsire to keep itself healthy throughout the duration of the game. Curse allows Quagsire to set up against and beat Pokemon such as Swords Dance Bewear or Curse Snorlax one-on-one, which would otherwise be able to either outpower it and 2HKO it with physical moves or stall it out. It also doubles to allow Quagsire to gain enough boosts to push past a severely weakened opposition for stall in the late-game.

Set Details
========

A Relaxed nature with maximum HP and Defense investment allows Quagsire to be as effective as possible in walling a plethora of physical attackers in the tier while not reducing the damage output from either Scald or Earthquake. Leftovers allows Quagsire to more comfortably shrug off physical hits, so that it needs to use Recover less.

Usage Tips
========

Preserve Quagsire to bring in against setup Pokemon that threaten your team, stopping your opponent's offensive momentum in its tracks. Use Curse to mitigate the damage sweepers like Feraligatr could deal to Quagsire, or use Toxic to limit the number of turns the foe has to wear Quagsire down or beat if with hax. Be careful to scout for Grass-type coverage where applicable. Also be careful to scout for Z-Moves that can 2HKO Quagsire in conjunction with a strong STAB attack on Pokemon such as Bewear. Unless you must or you can easily get off a Heal Bell of Aromatherapy, try to avoid trading Toxic with bulky Water-types, as it will cripple Quagsire's ability to perform its job.

Team Options
========

Quagsire fits best on stall teams, with defensive teammates such as Gligar, Registeel, and Umbreon that serve to take hits while maintaining hazard control and slowly whittling down the opposition. A cleric Pokemon, such as Umbreon or Florges, is especially helpful, as Quagsire can often find itself caught by a Toxic and made ineffective. It will also need help switching in with entry hazards up, which Wish support helps with. Moltres can also be especially helpful, as it provides team support as a secondary Defogger on double Defog stall while checking Grass-types that would break through Quagsire like Decidueye and Mega Abomasnow. Dragalge or specially defensive Gligar can check Hidden Power Grass Salazzle variants while providing team support by setting up Toxic Spikes or using Defog.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Running Toxic over Curse allows Quagsire to cripple bulky Pokemon such as Porygon2 and Chesnaught that might switch in and attempt to Toxic Quagsire or set up hazards on it; however, losing Curse allows Curse Snorlax to beat Quagsire one-on-one, a critical threat for stall that generally only Quagsire can check. Waterfall over Scald lets Quagsire close out games more effectively using Curse, as it allows Quagsire to boost through Pokemon that are resistant or immune to Earthquake. Counter can be used to pull a surprise KO on Pokemon such as Swords Dance Bewear, which would otherwise be able to 2HKO Quagsire, though it is very unreliable.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Grass-type Attacks**: Grass-type sweepers and wallbreakers, such as Decidueye, Shaymin, Virizion, and Swords Dance Abomasnow, or Pokemon with Grass-type coverage, such as Hidden Power Grass Salazzle, can set up without regard for Quagsire, as their attacks can easily OHKO or heavily damage it.

**Special Attackers**: Most decently strong special attackers are able to 2HKO Quagsire thanks to its poor special bulk. Notable Pokemon are Meloetta, Espeon, and Zoroark, which can set up and deal heavy damage to the stall teams where Quagsire is generally found.

**Mold Breaker Pangoro**: As the only relevant Mold Breaker Pokemon in the tier, Pangoro can use Swords Dance and hit Quagsire with boosted damage regardless of Unaware.

**Toxic**: Once Quagsire is caught with Toxic, often carried on bulky Pokemon like Milotic, the residual damage will make it hard for Quagsire to wall anything. Toxic can be run on bulky users like Milotic, but Quagsire must also be wary of it as a lure on Pokemon it checks like Doublade.

**Toxic Spikes**: With Toxic Spikes up, especially with two layers, the residual damage lets setup sweepers break through Quagsire. Most Pokemon that set up Toxic Spikes, such as Nidoqueen, Dragalge, and Roserade, can force Quagsire out with their brute power and get up another helpful layer of Toxic Spikes on its switch.

its still frail when compared to other walls (overall just low stats in everything) and easily pressured since it has to check a lot of pokemon and can't do that all at onec < include in overview

make curse the first slash imo. when I used quag I felt like curse was a much needed move to check mons like gatr cuz otherwise it can be pressured cuz gatr does like 45% with one waterfall. mention how curse allows it to better take on sweepers since its natural bulk can be low as well.

•Bring in Quagsire on setup Pokemon that threaten your team
vague and useless info, whats a threat? instead write how quagsire switches into set up sweepers to stop them in its tracks. also mention how it should be preserved if the opposing team has something like doublade or gatr. also mention using curse to be a bit more reliable vs things like gatr. you switch in as they dd, curse, and their waterfalls will do like 30%.

i cant approve this when team options is literally 2 short lines LOL, you need to do better than that.

remove rindo and infestation from oo

**AM Check**

Point one and two are literally the same on overview just worded differently, probably put them together.
I would make sure to mention Wish in team options as well as checks to common grass type pokemon.
Stockpile is an option for Quagsire if you are solely relying on Scald and Toxic.
Mention Pokemon that Quagsire checks that often run Toxic in C&C.
Mention Special attackers in C&C as well.
I would also just generally give more examples rather than just one sentence for each thing.

Fleshed things out, reversed curse/toxic slashing, added details on synergy with moltres/scouting for z moves

first,

[OVERVIEW]
  • Mention a physical attacker it comes in on easily if you wanna keep this point, otherwise remove. I can think of Scarf Durant probably but there's gotta be a few more
  • For this last bullet, just shorten it to it being worn down by entry hazards. You can give a specific mention to T Spikes.

Moves

  • For Scald I'd mention some would-be switchins that have to fear a burn, maybe Mega-Aboma, Chesnaught, or something else?
  • Mention some mons you might want to hit but not burn, like Slowking or Milotic.
  • What does it allow you to 1v1 that you otherwise wouldn't beat? Also mention that it specifically lets you beat CurseLax.
  • What are switch-ins crippled by toxic? Probably bulky waters, list a few.

Usage Tips
========
  • What are some setup Pokemon Quag should be preserved for? Gatr/Flygon/Others?
  • What are some pokemon that may be packing Grass-type coverage? Lazzle/Moltres probably it.
Team Options
========
  • I'd mention a check to HP Grass Salazzle, like Specially defensive Flygon/Gligar/Dragalge. If Salazzle can break one, it can't break the other. 2 of these mons also defog.
  • Maybe mentioning some checks for some of the immediately-strong pokemon that Quag can't check, like banded mons and whatnot?

Explain why the team options are good as teammates. What makes Gligar, umbreon, registeel, florges, etc good teammates? Write down the reasons please

Gligar is good for defog and checking some fighting types, umbreon is good to cover for quag's bad spdef and provide heal bell and wish support, same goes for florges, regi is obligatory for SR and also checking some spdef threats.

You also need to add in some more teammates and more importantly elaborate why they're good

Curse allows Quagsire to 1v1 mons that would normally be able to outpower it and 2HKO with physical moves or stall it out such as Curse Snorlax or Bewear, as well as doubling as a wincon for stall in the lategame.
Slightly misworded (is that even a word?), Curse is so Quagsire can be a bit more reliable at checking some strong physical attackers like SD normalium z Bewear and to set up alongside curselax and win thanks to unaware

•Unless you must, try to avoid trading toxics with bulky waters and the likes as it will cripple Quagsire's ability to perform its job
unless you have a heal bell/aromatherapy user

•Moltres is especially helpful as it provides team support as a defogger, while checking grass types that would break through Quagsire like Decidueye or Mega Abomasnow.
specifically mention double defog teams w/ moltres, cuz thats the only type of team defog moltres would fit on.

Special attackers in c&c, pretty much all of them 2hko. list out the most notable ones

deslash toxic

you can leave it mentioned in moves, but it does not deserve a primary slash. the ability to counter curselax for stall is something only quagsire can do, and it needs curse for that. also, mention shaymin in checks and counters.

make sure to beef up checks and counters since there isn't much elaboration

win condition
Quagsire is not a condition, rephrase this to convey the actual meaning of Quagsire being able to end the game if it gets enough boosts late-game
amount of turns
turns are countable, so amount -> number
Earthquake resists and immunities
"Pokemon that are resistant or immune to Earthquake"
Once caught with a Toxic ... the residual damage
this is a dangling modifier; change to "Once Quagsire is caught with Toxic" or something

King Wynaut read that and implement above for GP 1/2
