Melmetal is among the most dangerous wallbreakers in the metagame. Its amazing Attack stat, coverage options and powerful STAB move in Double Iron Bash make it a difficult Pokemon to consistently switch into. Protect allows Melmetal to both scout Pokemon like Choice Specs Magearna and Choice Band Pheromosa and gain additional Leftovers recovery. Earthquake hits Pokemon like Heatran, Toxapex, and opposing Melmetal super effectively. Ice Punch hits prominent Pokemon like Zapdos, Zygarde, Landorus-T, and Garchomp super effectively. The Speed EVs are invested to outspeed Toxapex, while the Special Defense EVs are used to take special attacks from Pokemon such as Magearna and Latios. Pokemon such as Pheromosa, Tapu Koko, Slowbro, Slowking, and Landorus-T are very useful for pivoting support; the former two also provide amazing speed control, while Slowbro and Slowking can provide Future Sight support, which is great for pressuring Toxapex and Buzzwole. This set struggles the most against Slowbro, Moltres, Corviknight, and Ferrothorn; thus, Pokemon that can offensively pressure them such as Urshifu-S and Spectrier are suitable teammates.

Melmetal is one of the most terrifying wallbreakers in the metagame. Its amazing Attack stat, good coverage options and incredibly powerful STAB move in Double Iron Bash, Melmetal is an incredibly difficult Pokemon to consistently switch into. Protect allows Melmetal to not only gain additional Leftovers recovery, but to also scout the opponent. Maybe add some examples you can scout, like Choice Band Pheromosa and Choice Specs Magearna. Earthquake is in order to hit Pokemon like Heatran, Toxapex and opposing Melmetal super-effectively. Ice Punch is to hit prominent Pokemon like Zapdos, Zygarde, Landorus-T and Garchomp super-effectively. The Speed EVs are for outspeeding Toxapex, while the rest Special Defense EVs (rest implies Attack too) are to take special attacks from Pokemon such as Magearna and Spectrier Latios. Melmetal doesn't really check Spectrier (threat of Will-O-Wisp and Choice Specs Shadow Ball), but it can take Latios' STAB attacks. Melmetal highly appreciates pivot support in order to get in safely, so Pokemon such as Pheromosa, Tapu Koko and Landorus-T are very useful; the former two also make for excellent speed control, which is very helpful in patching up Melmetal's horrible Speed tier. I'd like to see Future Sight Slowbro and Slowking worked into this. Melmetal also struggles with common Pokemon such as Heatran, Zygarde and Pheromosa, as such checks like Clefable and Buzzwole are great teammates for it. I don't think this is that notable; when healthy, Melmetal can eat a hit from most of these threats and KO them back, and the fact that it can scout any Choiced variants already makes counterplay easier. I'd say the biggest problems for this Melmetal set are Slowbro, Moltres, Corviknight, and Ferrothorn. In fact, I would have a sentence on how you should be wary of how Double Iron Bash can be punished by stuff like Rocky Helmet, Iron Barbs, and Flame Body, as well as Pressure due to its low PP.
