OM C&C: Take Two!

EV

Banned deucer.
With the introduction of the new formats on the Smogon dex, a long-awaited addition to the Other Metas community is now a real possibility.

Very soon we're going to start writing, editing, and uploading analyses for a few OMs. We've been in touch with the C&C leader Oglemi while we get everything ready behind the scenes, but I wanted to announce this now to raise awareness and to encourage you to get familiar with the C&C process if you aren't already.

The OMs we will write analysis for are Balanced Hackmons, STABmons, and Almost Any Ability. More may follow later. The QC teams will be announced later as well in the Other Metagames section of C&C.

If you have questions now please contact unfixable who is spearheading a lot of these efforts. He can direct you toward the correct resources if you're interested in contributing. Otherwise just keep an eye on the formats in the dex because soon you'll be able to go there and grab a quality, peer reviewed set for some of your favorite metagames!

OM C&C has been quite the powerhouse lately. However, it's been focused mainly on PU. After reviewing this idea with the rest of the Mod team, we've come to a conclusion. OM C&C that is currently existing will become a new, shiny OM C&C; instead of just PU. In this new Other Metagames C&C forum, we will be having three metagames as our "kick off". Firstly, Balanced Hackmons has an incredibly large playerbase and will be receiving priority. Next, we will have STABmons, which is arguably less popular but popular no doubt. Finally, we will have Almost Any Ability covering up the rear. These three metagames have been proven to be the most activity-based metagames, and judging by their ladder games, also active on the ladder. We will not be doing Tier Shift, Monotype, 1v1, Inverse Battle, or any other metagames at the moment. These three give us a focused idea, prevent overwhelming posts, and will be run as a trial to see if our forums can hold up C&C. This goes without saying, but I will say it anyways: posting anything about other metagames that aren't listed such as "free tier shift" "why no monotype?" or "when is 1v1?" will not be permitted. Each metagame will have its own QC team of players who have shown to be quality in the tier, and have been around for a long time. The QC Teams go as follow:

Balanced Hackmons:
E4 Flint
Piccolo Daimao
Uselesscrab
STABmons:
Eevee General
unfixable
Ellipse
jeran
Almost Any Ability:
aesf
Adrian Marin
Kl4ng
We will begin with groups of three, and if you prove to be knowledgable you may be added. A more concentrated QC team makes sure that we have quality in our analyses, and prevents clogging. One could argue that having a wide userlist as our QC ramps up the production, but we're focused on ensuring quality, not ensuring that we have a bunch of analyses. This is our not goal, to make analyses just so they're there, but to make analyses for people to get into OMs and become respected as a whole. This was cleared by chaos, and these will be able to be uploaded on-site and receive their own tag. These analyses will be a bit different from other analyses, and will require you to have three QC checks, meaning all QC members must check your analysis. Due to how varied certain OMs are, take Balanced Hackmons as an example, we will need to get all three opinions in on this so that we can be sure that everything is covered. If this proves to improve quality, it will stay; however, if it proves to slow down too much, then we will likely reduce it to two. But for now, we will be keeping it stuck at three.

The Contributor badge. Everyone loves pixels by their name, of course! We will be doing something different than other subforums, and we will be having a set number determine whether you are eligible to earn this badge. Of course quality will receive priority to quantity, and this is just a rough estimate, but this is what we're defining our badges by:
  • Pre-Contributor will be rewarded to users who have completed 7 quality analyses. If these analyses are not of quality, then they will take much longer than 7. Always remember that quality > quantity. You could do 20 mediocre analyses, and we may not consider you for Pre-Contributor, because we will feel as if you are doing it strictly for the badge. The badge will not be given to users who simply do analyses for the badge, and for any user who shows to not have metagame knowledge.
  • Contributor will be rewarded to users who have completed 15 quality analyses. These analyses will stack on from Pre-Contributor, so it will be 8 more high quality analyses. We want our OM Contributor badges to be much more reliant on quality than others, to make sure the analyses uploaded on-site will be up to the standards we're looking for. If you have a positive presence, show to have great metagame knowledge, and have completed 15 or more, than you will likely receive the badge.
  • Pre-Contributor, in terms of Quality Control, will be given to users who have around 25 solid checks. We expect you to have metagame knowledge, and we expect you to constantly check over analyses. This will mean being thorough, catching errors, and fixing nitpicks. If it becomes evident you are checking Pokemon without knowledge of how they function or that you do not have knowledge of the tier, then you will be stripped from your QC status. Users with positive QC presence will receive the Bug.
  • Contributor, in terms of Quality Control, will be given to users with a solid 45 checks. This seems like a lot, and it is, but we want you to constantly work. This badge will not come overnight, it will likely take time. We want devoted users to the QC team to be shown as a quality contributor, not just a quality controller! Users can receive this badge before 45 checks, but after 45 solid checks then you are likely to get the tear drop. If you rush through and do a bunch of checks, and somehow manage to get 45 checks in a week, we will be looking for time. This shows you're racing through to get to the badge, and we do not want you to do that.
  • Both Pre-Contributor and Contributor badges for Grammar Prose will be accounted for, and this will occur just like any other C&C Subforum. Oglemi is in charge of this one, not us.
  • Quality Control team members are eligible to earn both badges in lesser time than regular users if they do both Quality Control and Analyses themselves. A rough estimate is likely 5 analyses, and 17 checks for Pre-Contributor and 12 analyses and around 35 QC checks for full Contributor badge. These users will be handled a bit more leniently than others because their knowledge has been shown just by being on the QC team, hence removing the "show your worth" portion of our handling of badges.
This is a very loose list and will be sort of ignored, as we have realized after it's been put into effect.

I'm hesitant to reply here b/c it's a pinned thread; but if I shouldn't have just delete it :]

So if we would like to contribute, can we start reserving and writing analyses or are we waiting for something?
