Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 244 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Scald
- Earth Power / Earthquake
- Recover
- Toxic

Pelipper can't touch Gastro and you can Toxic it. Gastro can safely switch in to Pilo and go for Scald to get a potential burn.

252+ Atk Piloswine Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 244+ Def Gastrodon: 138-163 (32.3 - 38.2%) -- 1.5% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

Basically, lapras comes in against any of pilo's ice moves for free, and doesn't even take that much from eq, while pelliper can't even touch it, and then it gets to throw out a hydro pump or freeze dry, and if it predicts right, it gets an easy ohko vs both of them.

Lapras @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Signal Beam

Lanturn @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb / Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 72 SpD / 184 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Ice Beam
- Scald / Hidden Power Grass

Pelipper is a pretty shaky special Water-resist and obviously dies to Volt Switch, while Piloswine doesn't like taking a Hydro Pump or Scald at all. Specs Lanturn is pretty uncommon but does heavy damage to both members, while an Assault Vest or Shuca Berry set can also do decently against this pair. They're both outsped so Piloswine OHKOing with Earthquake isn't likely unless it switches into Volt Switch.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Lanturn Hydro Pump vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Pelipper: 137-162 (42.4 - 50.1%)
252+ SpA Choice Specs Lanturn Volt Switch vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Pelipper: 700-828 (216.7 - 256.3%)

252+ SpA Choice Specs Lanturn Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Piloswine: 420-494 (103.9 - 122.2%)
252+ SpA Choice Specs Lanturn Scald vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Piloswine: 306-360 (75.7 - 89.1%)

Holy cow, we got a ton of submissions this week. Glad to see that n_n

In fact, since we got so many I decided that this week you guys can vote for two threats :)

Primeape @ Choice Band
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- U-turn
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake

primeape hurts a lot piloswine thanks to close combat, and can also do a lot to pelipper with stone edge. if pelipper tries to defog, primeape gets the defiant boost.
rotom is mine :3

Rotom @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Hex
- Will-O-Wisp
- Thunderbolt

Pretty standard rotom set, it's able to bop peli ez pz and can cripple the pilo with will-o then proceed to spam hex.
252 SpA Rotom Hex (130 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Piloswine: 172-204 (42.5 - 50.4%) -- 94.5% chance to 2HKO after burn damage
252 SpA Rotom Volt Switch vs. 248 HP / 8 SpD Pelipper: 492-580 (152.3 - 179.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Aggron @ Choice Band
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Heavy Slam
- Head Smash
- Superpower
- Fire Punch

Aggron outspeeds both of these mons and OHKOs them both. It doesn't appreciate Scald or EQ but it should never have to take either.

252+ Atk Choice Band Aggron Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Eviolite Piloswine: 462-546 (114.3 - 135.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO

PrinceLucian and quziel are the winners this week. Congrats! :)

This week I decided to go a little off the path and go with...

NORMALSPAM!!!

This week isn't necessarily providing sets but moreso an archetype that is well-known in the NU metagame. Submissions end on Friday and stay the same, but rather than finding threats for a core, you are finding threats for a common offensive archetype. Good luck!

All Rhydon sets threaten Normal spam!

Rhydon @ Eviolite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Rock Polish
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

DD Rhydon can easily set up on Swellow locked into Boomburst, Kangaskhan, and Tauros without Iron Tail. After a Rock Polish, it can KO or 2HKO these mons. It resists Normal, which I guess is the key to being a threat to normal spam. It can take hits from these mons really well even with no investment.

Rhydon @ Eviolite
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 240 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast
- Megahorn

Tank Rhydon walls almost all of the mons used in Normal spam- Swellow without HP Grass, Tauros without Iron Tail, and Kangaskhan. It can get virtually free rocks on these mons and can threaten them with Earthquake or Rock Blast.

Regirock @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 196 SpD
Impish Nature
- Rock Slide
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock
- Drain Punch

None of the 3 mons can 3HKO Regi and it just annoys them with Thunder Wave + Rock Slide. Sets up rocks to limitate Swellows switch ins. Drain Punch hits all 3 for decent recovery.

- Close Combat

- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
more of an offensive approach to checking Normal-spam, but it works. Scarf Primeape outpaces Swellow, Kangaskhan, Tauros etc and can check all of them fairly well. It has trouble switching in however, and Fake Out > sack > Fake Out from Kangaskhan also kills Primeape, especially after Defense Drops from Close Combat.

Barbaracle @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Razor Shell
- Stone Edge
- Superpower
- Switcheroo

Scarf Barbaracle can switch in on a Normal-type move and OHKO with either Superpower or Stone Edge, with Razor Shell and Superpower also killing Swellow after rocks. Depending on Barbaracle's teammates it can also bluff Shell Smash and force them to stay in.

Solrock @ Leftovers

EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe

- Stealth Rock
- Will-O-Wisp
- Morning Sun

Solrock sets up rocks on most Normal-types, like Swellow and Kanga. It can cripple Tauros with Will-O-Wisp, and has recovery to stay healthy throughout the match and survive the onslaught of the Normal Spam.

Carracosta @ Leftovers
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 252 HP / 92 Def / 164 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Rock Slide
- Knock Off

Carracosta can switch into any Normal-type move, can Knock Off their precious items and / or burn them thanks to Scald. Rock Slide is also interesting for Swellow since it can't do much back.

With so little votes (lol), Earth is the first winner while a tie happened between Shadestep and Blast so I...
[00:51] @nv: !pick shadestep, blast
We randomly picked: shadestep

So Shadestep is the other winner. Congrats :)

This week's core is one that literally just won Matchamking but has been a core I have personally been enjoying for quite some time now.
+

Gastrodon @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Scald
- Earthquake / Earth Power
- Recover
- Toxic / Clear Smog

Archeops
Ability: Defeatist
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Stone Edge
- Acrobatics
- Earth Power
- Roost

Gastrodon and Archeops have fantastic defensive synergy while their roles offer so much to more balanced / bulkier teams since Archeops can provide offensive pressure while Gastrodon can switch into Water- and Electric-type moves for Archeops.

Submissions end on Friday.

PrinceLucian

Banned deucer.

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rain Dance
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Giga Drain

There are no many pokemon that can switch into archeops and not get countered or hard checked by gastrodon. Ludicolo gets a free switchin into gastro, sets up rain and threatens both if opponent doesnt have special wall.

Scarf Aurorus outspeeds Archeops and Freeze-Dry pretty much OHKOs them both.

252 SpA Aurorus Freeze-Dry vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 448-532 (105.1 - 124.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Aurorus Freeze-Dry vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Archeops: 270-320 (92.7 - 109.9%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO
