Metagame Move Equality

Kartana is way better in this metagame, since it no longer has to make do with weak STABs. Special Flying types like this, as they no longer have to make do with Hurricane's shaky (outside Rain) accuracy. Overall this meta looks like a lot of fun.

Talonflame is likely to be more consistent here because it can now use its Flying-type STAB as a revenge killing option without having to break Gale Wings. Something like this could be nice:

Talonflame @ Choice Band / Flynium Z
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Peck
- Flame Charge
- U-turn / Swords Dance
- Tailwind / Roost

Zapdos LOVES having a buff to it's Flying-type movepool; it really opens up its options and allows it to improve its cleaning ability substantially. Also just in general Pokemon which rely on the weak Hidden Power for coverage appreciate the FUCK out of the buff because it allows them to pose as more dangerous threats whilst being more useful vs. non-4x weak targets.

Zapdos @ Electrium Z / Flynium Z / Ghostium Z
Ability: Static
EVs: 4 Def /252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Agility
- Charge Beam
- Air Cutter / Hidden Power [Ice]
- Hidden Power [Fire] / Hidden Power [Ice] / Ominous Wind

Ghostium allows it to always OHKO all Alolan Marowak variants from full health whilst also hitting strong/irritatingly fat Pokemon like Mega Metagross etc. for OHKOs, which is useful because otherwise it risks being OHKOed in return by Flame Charge. Charge Beam slowballs super easily, and Air Cutter acts as a strong STAB move for hitting Grass-types like Tangrowth, Amoonguss, and Mega Venusaur hard.

Volcarona appreciates the fuck out of this meta; it is able to run Fiery Dance without being a weak shit, and it has useful power buffs to HP Ice, Struggle Bug and Absorb which can help it break through stuff that may otherwise pose as problems.

Volcarona @ Firium Z / Psychium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Fiery Dance
- Absorb
- Hidden Power Ground / Hidden Power Ice / Psychic / Struggle Bug

I would go with Aerial Ace instead of Peck. The lack of accuracy check might occasionally make a difference, and you're unlikely to ever need more than 32 PP.

Actually that Breakneck Blitz comment just gave me an idea:

Pheromosa @ Normalium Z / Fightinium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Hidden Power Fighting / Focus Blast
- Silver Wind
- Ice Beam / Hidden Power Ghost

Keldeo @ Normalium Z / Expert Belt / Choice Specs / Choice Scarf
Ability: Justfied
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind / Icy Wind
- Scald
- Secret Sword / Hidden Power Fighting
- Hidden Power Electric / Icy Wind

Normalium turns Hidden Power into Breakneck, so being able to compress the roles of Z-Hyper Beam and another coverage move that they use in standard is utterly huge because it basically removes one of the key issues with running Z-Hyper Beam on a Pokemon. There are probably more than I listed, but yeah it's food for thought regardless.

true.
If Camomons + Move Equality would merged, Rapid Spin was banned.

I would like to share this set.

Escavalier @ Choice Band
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpA
Brave Nature
- Drill Run
- Knock Off
- Smart Strike / Iron Head
- Twineedle

Strong moves, good atk, well.
This is very strong with CB and the moves. A good typing is cool too.

Struggle Bug is a special attack. I'd replace it with either Bug Bite or Twineedle. Also, Escavalier isn't outspeeding anything anytime soon, so Smart Strike is pretty much always better unless you're running Trick Room.

Good thing that it returned in Gen 7 :]

Some sets

Zoroark @ Focus Sash
Ability: Illusion
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Low Sweep

This can setup easily if played and disguised correctly and could potentially sweep the entire opponent's team. The only problem are Fairy types as they resist every move of Zoroark in here. Thief can be used over Knock Off for higher Base Power. It can go for U-Turn as well but Sash set up fares better.
Zoroark @ Focus Sash
Ability: Illusion
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Snarl
- Incinerate
- Sludge Bomb

Perfect setup timing (mid-game is preferred as the best for Disguise) can make this a huge threat. This one has better coverage.

Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Rock Smash

Feraligatr appreciates the base power increase and has good moves, along with Dragon Dance, Life Orb and Sheer Force Boost

Garchomp @ Choice Scarf/Choice Band/Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dual Chop
- Bulldoze
- Fire Fang
- Rock Tomb

This can play a lot of roles. Its basically an All-Out-Attacker. Scarf allows it to outspeed a lot of Pokemon, Band gives power and Life Orb prevents it from being locked into a move and increases damage output at the same time. Dual Chop can get through Sash and Substitute. 100 Base Power Fire Fang allows it to go all physical instead of relying on Fire Blast for coverage.

Porygon-Z @ Choice Scarf / Choice Specs
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Tri Attack
- Icy Wind
- Psyshock
- Charge Beam / Electroweb

Makes use of moves with additional effects and hits really hard. Use Charge Beam with Scarf and Electroweb with Specs for the best results.

Hope the sets are good haven't played Gen 7 that much feel free to correct me
Also its playable on Dragon Heaven but since it was coded some time ago, it uses Spandan 's version of the code
Here's a replay! The Nuzzle Raichu set posted in this thread is pretty solid and if you can manage to keep hazards out from your side (for Sash) then it can help a lot

Edit: I accidentally tagged the user Focus Sash while posting the set so I fixed that

Some sets I thought up:
Azumarill @ Leftovers
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Power-Up Punch
- Play Rough
- Aqua Jet
- Knock Off

Power-Up Punch is now a good alternative to Belly Drum and is better coverage against Steels. Waterfall is also not needed since Aqua Jet is 100 BP.

Crobat @ Black Sludge
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 248 HP / 48 Def / 212 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pluck
- Poison Fang
- Defog
- Roost

Poison Fang is nice because it's basically Toxic with 100 BP and immunity to Taunt. Pluck steals Berries which is always helpful as well.

Charizard-Mega-Y @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Drought
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Fire Spin / Incinerate
- Air Slash
- Mud-Slap
- Ancient Power

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Flame Charge
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Thunder Punch

Charizard gets some great moves that don't have high BP, but now Charizard-Y gets perfect coverage, more survivability, and a chance to boost all stats. Meanwhile, Charizard-X now doesn't have to worry about recoil or being forced into Outrage.

Keldeo @ Waterium Z / Normalium Z / Choice Scarf
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Secret Sword
- Scald
- Icy Wind
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Now Keldeo actually has good coverage, and it doesn't have to run both Scald and Hydro Pump.

Ribombee @ Leftovers / Focus Sash / Life Orb
Ability: Shield Dust
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Silver Wind
- Draining Kiss
- Hidden Power [Ground]

Shield Dust is a handy ability since secondary effects will run rampant. Silver Wind has a chance to boost while Draining Kiss helps survivability.

Hey nice Keldeo and Ribomee sets they sound cool! Power-Up-Punch is banned so you realise that it makes the Azumarill set illegal, also Aqua Jet doesn't get 100 BP since it has greater priority than 0. The banlist can be found in the OP and the categoris of moves whose BP remain unchanged is also stated there, a list of all the unchanged BP moves would be out soon as states in the OP. Also you might wanna run Solar Beam on Zard Y for SE coverage against water and Normalium Z doesn't look like an option for the Keldeo set as it has no Normal type move. But anyway the Keldeo set sounds cool and Ribomee one is creative so they might turn out to be good.

This is mostly correct, but Z-Hidden Power is always Normal-type, so Normalium Z is an option on anything that runs it.

rip azumarill

I didn't feel like running Solar Beam on Charizard-Y since its power is nerfed. If I did, then it's probably better to run HP Grass since it has no charge.

Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Luster Purge
- Dragon Breath
- Whirlpool
- Shock Wave

Latios gets even better now.
He can use his signature Luster Purge, who can really help with 1 hit.
Dragon Breath, a Dragon Pulse with more PP and chance of flinching.
NOW, we have a giant Whirlpool, this supreme move <3
Shockwave is the new Thunderbolt!

I'll try to compile a list of unchanged moves at some point; if anyone could help that'd be great.
Here are the unchanged moves from Gen 6 and earlier:

Here's a set set that I was theorymonning on the discord. I think it can function as a reasonable wall breaker with its great coverage and new and improved STAB base powers.

Nidoking (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fire Punch / Thunder punch / Ice punch
- Poison Tail
- Bulldoze
- Rock slide / Sucker punch / Rock smash

Nidoking no longer has to rely on its sub bar base 85 special attack to wall break effectively and can now abuse its great 102 base attack coupled with sheer force.

Poison tail: With a 10 percent chance to poison the target, poison tail is now a 100 base power stab attack with a 1.3x boost. To put the icing on the cake, poison tail has a separate increased chance to crit. Not to mention more PP of course.

Bulldoze: Self explanatory. Essentially a sheer force boosted earthquake with more PP.

Rock slide: Provides edge quake coverage with bulldoze and is basically a sheer force boosted stone edge

Sucker Punch: Provides good priority to pick of weakened threats that have been lowered by rocks, spikes, and life orb (which I can imagine being very common being a likely offensively inclined metagame) etc.

Rock Smash: Very good fighting coverage that gets boosted by sheer force. Consistent as well.

Punches: Really up to you and what your team needs. Metagame hasn't developed to know which one would be most necessary but in my personal opinion, with bulldoze to deal with (most) steels, and rock slide to deal with (most flying types), thunder punch is best to defeat bulky waters that spam 100 base power scalds (also it beats skarmory and celesteela which check you heavily).

A mixed/fully special set may also be viable with moves like bubblebeam, confusion, and shadow ball being in nidokings movepool and should be worth mentioning.

NOTE: I don't know much about this metagame and I don't know what the big defensive and offensive threats are. Because of this, dont look at the moveset like it was a standard smogon moveset (Pick a moveslot and choose one of the moves provided for that moveslot), these literally are just things that came to me and could be entirely wrong. Expirement for yourself! <3

OK I've added ROM to the OP after clarifying that one of the mechanics was properly implemented. Go nuts!

Ludicrousity

You humour me greatly with your arrogance and c...

I have a few moves that have advantages in this OM:

  • P: Constrict / Rapid Spin / Rage / Stomp / Headbutt / Chip Away / Slash / Crush Claw / Body Slam > Return / Frustration / Double Edge
  • S: Tri Attack > Boomburst, I guess

  • S: Absorb / Leaf Tornado > I guess Energy Ball / Petal Dance?
  • P: Razor Leaf / Needle Arm / Trop Kick / Horn Leech > Seed Bomb / Wood Hammer

  • P: Flame Charge / Fire Fang / Fire Punch > Flare Blitz
  • S: Ember / Incinerate / Mystical Fire / Fiery Dance > Flamethrower / Fire Blast / Burn Up / Shell Trap

  • S: Bubble / Water Pulse / Octazooka / Scald > Surf / Hydro Pump
  • P: Razor Shell? / Waterfall > Aqua Tail, I guess.

  • P: Rock Smash / Karate Chop / Storm Throw / Low Sweep / Brick Break / Drain Punch > Close Combat / HJK / Superpower / Focus Punch
  • S: Aura Sphere / Secret Sword > Focus Blast, I guess

  • S: Gust / Air Cutter / Air Slash > Hurricane

A couple of sets

Sharpedo-Mega @ Sharpedonite
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- Waterfall
- Bite
- Poison Fang

This set is like the regular M-Sharpedo, but thanks to Poison Fang, Sharpedo can:
  • KO Grass and Fairy types
  • Have a 100 BP move that's boosted by Strong Jaw
  • Have a 50% chance to poison the opponent
Mimikyu @ Life Orb
Ability: Disguise
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Astonish
- Play Rough
- Shadow Sneak / Leech Life

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature

Magnitude

(That feel when you're almost done writing a long post, but you accidentally close the tab)

Sorry for the double post, but here are a few sets I theorymoned. Most of the last slots have a lot of slashes.

Pidgeot-Mega @ Pidgeotite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane / Air Slash / Air Cutter
- Swift
- Heat Wave
- U-turn / Roost / Ominous Wind / Hidden Power [???]

Hurricane may have been nerfed, but now Pidgeot has usable Normal STAB! Hurricane can be replaced with Air Slash or Air Cutter if you prefer flinches or increased crit rate over confusion.

Komala @ Leftovers
Ability: Comatose
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- U-turn
- Wish
- Shadow Claw / Sucker Punch / Rock Slide / Bulldoze / Low Sweep / Play Rough

Because of the buff to Rapid Spin, I wanted to find a Pokemon who could use it as its main attack. The only two Normal types that learn Rapid Spin are Spinda and Komala, and Spinda kinda sucks. Anyway, having Rapid Spin as a STAB attack means Komala has room to run a coverage move.

Kommo-o @ Life Orb / Roseli Berry
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Brick Break
- Poison Jab / Bulldoze / Rock Tomb

Remember when everyone was disappointed that Kommo-o had weak physical Fighting STAB? Well, now that isn't an issue. Also, I'm pretty sure Acid Spray Nihilego will be dominant force in this meta, and Acid Spray is actually blocked by Bulletproof. Nihilego does learn Dazzling Gleam, however.

Magearna @ Assault Vest / Fairium Z / Steelium Z
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dazzling Gleam
- Flash Cannon
- Aura Sphere
- Volt Switch / Charge Beam / Aurora Beam / Shadow Ball / Psybeam / Hidden Power [???]

Fleur Cannon or Dazzling Gleam? Focus Blast or Aura Sphere? Move Equality makes the choice an obvious one.

Gengar @ Choice Scarf / Choice Specs / Life Orb
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Clear Smog / Sludge Bomb
- Ominous Wind / Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Fighting] / Focus Blast
- Icy Wind / Giga Drain / Infestation / Thunderbolt / Psychic / Dazzling Gleam / Hidden Power [???]

Ah, Gengar. Your sleeve never does run out of tricks, does it? Clear Smog + Gengar's speed means that it will probably remove the opponent's boosts before they hit you. It also means that Calm Mind users can't use Gengar as setup fodder. Sludge Bomb can be used instead if you value the poison chance more. Ominous Wind has obvious snowball potential, but because it has low PP and the boosts are lost if you switch, it should be saved for a late game sweep. Shadow Ball can be used instead if you just want a spammable Ghost attack. Gengar doesn't need to rely on Focus Blast to get that sweet Ghost/Fighting coverage, though obviously running HP Fighting means you can't run a different Hidden Power. Mega Drain can be used over Giga Drain, but because it's exclusive to RBY Gengar, it's incompatible with a bunch of stuff. Infestation prevents your opponent from double switching.

Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Rock Smash
- Knock Off / Swords Dance / Roost / Defog / Pursuit / Double Hit

Technician and priority aren't exactly on everyone's mind, but that doesn't make Scizor's Bullet Punch any less powerful. What is more powerful is U-Turn. Rock Smash is weaker than Scizor's usual Superpower, but its secondary effect is helpful instead of harmful, making it safer and more spammable. Double Hit is also an option, since it is effectively a 150 BP attack due to the Technician boost.

Finally, it's worth noting that Psyshock now just as strong as Psychic, so you aren't sacrificing damage for running it.
