EVs: 248 HP / 248 Def / 12 Spe
Tera Type: Fairy
Bold Nature
- Flamethrower
- Will-O-Wisp / Hurricane
- U-turn
- Roost

Moltres uses its excellent set of resistances and Flame Body to frustrate common physical attackers like Kingambit and Iron Valiant. It also turns U-turn from Meowscarada and Landorus-T, normally free ways to grab momentum, into dangerous risks. Will-O-Wisp burns the aforementioned physical attackers and potential switch-ins like Ting-Lu, while Hurricane OHKOes Great Tusk and threatens Thermal Exchange Baxcalibur. U-turn generates valuable momentum, especially as it can often force out most physical attackers. Tera Fairy maintains the all-important Fighting resistance and checks non-Iron Head Kingambit while dropping all of its painful weaknesses; notably, Tera Fairy allows Moltres to switch into Stealth Rock more easily if it eats a Knock Off. 12 Speed EVs let it outpace Kingambit. Moltres struggles to handle physical attackers that do not care about getting burned like Ursaluna and Baxcalibur, making secondary checks to them like Dondozo appreciated. Moltres also invites in common special attackers like Choice Specs Dragapult and Walking Wake, so reliable answers to them like Ting-Lu and Galarian Slowking, respectively, are good teammates.

Fat Talonflame uses its excellent set of resistances and Flame Body’s burn chance to frustrate common physical attackers like Zamazenta, Zam still runs edge so probably not the best example Kingambit, and Iron Valiant. It also turns U-turn from Roaring Moon Meowscarada and Landorus-T, normally a free way to grab momentum, into a dangerous risk. Will-O-Wisp is a great option to burn aforementioned physical attackers as well as potential switch-ins like Ting-Lu, while Hurricane OHKOes Great Tusk and threatens Baxcaliber without triggering Thermal Exchange. U-turn generates valuable momentum, especially as it can often force a switch against a physical attacker that does not want to risk making contact. Tera Fairy maintains the all-important Fighting resistance while dropping the painful Rock-, Electric-, and Water-type weaknesses; most notably additionally, it allows Moltres to switch into Stealth Rock if it eats a Knock Off from Great Tusk or Iron Valiant. 12 Speed EVs outpace Kingambit, allowing Moltres to threaten it with Will-O-Wisp or Flamethrower. Moltres struggles to physical attackers that do not care about getting burned burns like Ursaluna and Hisuian Arcanine Baxcalibur, making secondary checks to them like Dondozo are appreciated. Moltres also invites in common special attackers like Rotom-W and Zapdos Choice Specs Dragapult and Walking Wake, so reliable answers to them like Amoonguss and Clodsire Ting-Lu for the former and Galarian Slowking for the latter are good teammates.

Tera Fairy maintains the all-important Fighting resistance (if it's not over the word limit then the dark resist against non-iron head gambit is pretty noteworthy too) while dropping the painful Rock-, Electric-, and Water-type weaknesses; additionally, it Tera Fairy allows Moltres to switch into Stealth Rock better (or any other descriptive words, cause technically you still get -12%) if it eats a Knock Off from Great Tusk or Iron Valiant. 12 Speed EVs outpace Kingambit, allowing Moltres to threaten it with Will-O-Wisp or Flamethrower.
