Day 5

You all surround Alabama, also known as Duskfall98. He accepts his fate.

UncleSam said:
Dear Duskfall98, you are The Cartel Boss.

Alias: Alabama.

You’re the one selected by the head honchos back home to move in and take the Big City, by force if necessary (and trust me, it’ll be necessary). You’ve been given copious resources to make it happen, and will stop at nothing to achieve your goal.

Each night, you may submit “NX - Empower <Alias1> to kill <Alias2>”. If <Alias1> is aligned with the Cartel, then they will kill <Alias2> by shooting them in the head.

Additionally, you may empower select players to perform additional actions. You may empower yourself, but for now you may only empower any player to perform a single action. The number and type of actions you may empower other players to perform depends on the total remaining strength of the Cartel. The strength of the Cartel is determined as follows:
  • Cartel Boss = 6
  • Capo = 4
  • Other promoted members = 3
  • Un-promoted Goons = 1

You know that the Cartel currently has a strength of 29 (this is your total Strength as of Night 0). You may spend strength points as follows:
  • Extra Kill: 30
  • Vote Persuade: 6 (Limit one per night)
  • Harmful Safeguard: 6
  • Full PM Inspection: 3
  • BG (can be used on self): 3
  • Roleblock: 3
  • Primary Ability Check: 2
  • Beneficial Safeguard: 2
  • Watcher: 1
  • Tracker: 1

You may save Strength points for future nights. The amount of Strength points you gain for a given night is evaluated at the conclusion (i.e. after the vote) of the preceding Day.

As an example, you may, during N0, empower 9 other players to perform Full PM inspections, and 2 additional players to perform a Track. If you empower a non-Cartel member, their action will fail but they will be informed of what you empowered them to do and who they were asked to target. They will not be informed of anything about you (i.e. your alias). Empowerment cannot be disrupted or tampered with in any way and does not count as a targeted action.

Once during the game, you may forego all actions aside from the nightly kill and submit “NX - Bribe <Alias>”. <Alias> will join you as a promoted member of the Cartel, while retaining any abilities they had beforehand. This will only work on members of the Big City. This can only be used if either you or the Capo are still alive. If you use this, you will forfeit all Strength points gained during the night on which you used this. Recruitment actions have the highest priority in the game. If this fails for any reason you will be refunded the strength points you lost.

Finally, each night you may submit “NX - Promote <Alias>”. If <Alias> is an unpromoted Cartel Goon, they will join your promoted ranks and be included as part of your tightest circle of communications and action planning. They will also count for 3 strength instead of 1. However, <Alias> will also be informed of your alias and Smogon username and of what you attempted to do - even if you fail to promote them. Be careful who you try to Promote.

All of these abilities will pass on to the Capo in the event of your death. If the Capo is dead, then the nightly kill empowerment and ability empowerment will go to the least-recently promoted Goon - the other abilities will be lost. Other promoted Cartel members will only count for 3 strength, even if made the new Cartel Boss.

You are aware of the other starting members of your promoted Cartel circle, who will be included in a separate PM.

You are allied with the Cartel. You win if the Cartel eliminates all threats.
Feeling satisfied with yourselves, you all head back to sleep and await what the night has in store....

Night 5

You all wake up to find that four among your number have been removed.

First, Nebraska was shot in the head. This was Yeti.

UncleSam said:
Dear Yeti, you are The Police Commissioner.

Alias: Nebraska.

You’re the head honcho, the big cheese, the brains behind this operation. This operation being protecting the Big City.

Every night, you may submit “NX - Rogue <Faction>”. <Faction> may be The Cartel or Neutrals. If that faction attempts to kill you, you will avoid the kill and see the alias of whoever tried to kill you. Note that this functions as a limited bodyguard for mechanical purposes, and can thus be disrupted, redirected, or otherwise blocked.

As the current commissioner, you will receive results from all living members of the police department. Unfortunately, you seem to have lost the roster of who is under your command, but they will nonetheless forward a copy of their results to you.

You know that, with the current paranoia surrounding the serial killer known as The Psychopath, things may not be as they seem around the Big City. Be wary of what or who you trust and try to keep the peace as best you can while madness descends around you.

Because you are such a steadfast supporter of the Big City, you cannot ever be swayed from supporting it, no matter what anybody else offers you. You know that this is rare and that there are very few other players with this characteristic in the Big City, so be careful who you trust.

If you ever die, someone else will be promoted to the position of Commissioner. If this happens, then that person will gain the Rogue ability and the unrecruitable characteristic, unless they have already been recruited.

You are allied with the Big City. You win if the Big City eliminates all threats.
With the death of Yeti, you all suddenly realized the need to rally together and protect the Big City. In a snap election, you have elected someone to be The Judge - specifically, The Jailer has won this election. Let's all congratulate The Jailer on becoming the new Judge of the Big City.

Next, Minnesota was dismembered. This was Laurel.

UncleSam said:
Dear Laurel, you are The Escort.

Alias: Minnesota.

You’re a high-priced escort, willing to use your unique…set of skills to help the Big City.

Each night, you may submit “NX - Roleblock <Alias>”. You will prevent <Alias> from performing any actions that night. It is a big mystery how you manage this.

Additionally, you have a set of unfortunate diseases that will leave a lasting impact on those you prevent from acting. Starting the night after you visit <Alias>, they will be passively targeted with a roleblock every other night from there on out due to having to treat their newfound diseases. If you ever target them with Roleblock again, they will be passively targeted with a roleblock every night. If this is successfully used on a member of the Cartel, then their Strength value will be halved on the first target, and zeroed out on the second (in addition to the passive Roleblock effect).

The lasting impacts of this role will cease should you die.

You are allied with the Big City. You win if the Big City eliminates all threats.
Anyone who had been targeted by this role is now cured.

Third, D.C. aka Ariariadne was permanently sent to prison by The Jailer.

UncleSam said:
Dear Ariariadne, you are The Vengeance.

Alias: D.C.

The evildoers aren't gonna get away that easy. Armed to the teeth, you fight on the side of justice. You refuse to harm the innocent, but won't go down without a fight.

Each night, you may submit "NX - Take Revenge on <Alias>". If your target has ever personally murdered a member of the Big City, you will kill them by shooting them in the heart. If you fail Revenge twice, however, then you will lose trust in your ability to identify evil and will lose the ability to take Revenge permanently.

You are allied with the Big City. You win if the Big City eliminates all threats.
Finally, North Carolina, aka Aura Guardian, was shot in the heart. He was a standard Cartel Goon.

Suddenly, you feel something stirring amongst the remaining Cartel Goons. It seems they have entered a state of frenzy! You may want to check the OP to see what this may mean.

Finally, the morning report:
Morning Report said:
So no one told you life was gonna be this lawn
Your job's a joke, you're broke
Your love life's Oregone
It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month
Or even your year, but

I'll be tracking you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be tracking you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be tracking you
('Cause you're tracking me too)

You're still in bed at ten
And work began at eight
You've burned your breakfast
So far, things are going great
Your mother warned you there'd be days like these
But she didn't tell you when the world has brought
You down to your knees that

I'll be tracking you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be tracking you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be tracking you
('Cause you're tracking me too)

No one could ever know me
No one could ever see me
Seems you're the only one who knows
What it's like to be me
Someone to face the day with
Make it through all the rest with
Someone I'll always laugh with
Even at my worst, I'm best with you, yeah

It's like you're always stuck in second gear
When it hasn't been your day, your week, your month
Or even your year
Stuck targeting Florida

I'll be tracking you
(When the rain starts to pour)
I'll be tracking you
(Like I've been there before)
I'll be tracking you
('Cause you're tracking me too)

I'll be tracking you
I'll be tracking you
I'll be tracking you
('Cause you're tracking me too)
It is now Day 6. Day 6 will end in 26 hours, or at 8 PM PST on 3/19.

Day 6

As you all arouse and get ready to vote, suddenly the local Poll Worker shouts out "sorry everyone, the vote is already over! Louisiana will be voted out today!" It seems this was dak.

UncleSam said:
Dear dak, you are The Jailer.

Alias: Louisiana.

You’re in charge of the local jail, and will do your best to keep the evildoers in and the Big City free of their machinations.

Each night, you may submit “NX - Jailkeep <Alias>”. <Alias> will be prevented from using any actions that night, but will also be protected from all actions. <Alias> will be released at the end of the night.

You know that the FBI Agent is a role in this game that can throw criminals in jail permanently. While either of you are alive you will prevent these criminals from escaping, and they will be treated as dead for the purposes of all win conditions. You may release select criminals who are in jail by agreement with the FBI Agent, but while you are both alive neither of you may release anyone without consent from the other. Both you and the FBI Agent may talk with players in prison as if they were alive, but they will otherwise be subject to standard deadtalk rules.

Finally, you know that if there is ever a warrant issued for someone’s arrest, you will also be able to permanently jail criminals distinct from your Jailkeep action. This will be treated as a kill targeted by you for mechanical purposes. You aren’t sure what might trigger a warrant for someone’s arrest, however, and it will be up to you whether to follow through on the warrant.

Because you are such a steadfast supporter of the Big City, you cannot ever be swayed from supporting it, no matter what anybody else offers you. You know that this is rare and that there are very few other players with this characteristic in the Big City, so be careful who you trust.

You are allied with the Big City. You win if the Big City eliminates all threats.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
With the deaths of the Mayor and Commissioner, you have taken it upon yourself to be the last bastion of hope for the Big City, and have successfully run for and won the position of The Judge.

The Judge is an additional title in addition to your prior role name.

You have gained the following day ability:
  • If your original role name was ‘The Mayor’, you may submit “DX - Promote <Alias>”. Your team of spin doctors will spend all night promoting <Alias>, and <Alias> will permanently gain 1.5 votes in the daily vote and become permanently immune to persuasion. You can promote a maximum of three people at a time, but if some of them die you may replace the dead promoted players with living ones. This may not be used on the same <Alias> twice and may not be used on yourself.
  • If your original role name was ‘The Police Commissioner’, you may submit “DX - Warn <Alias> about <Faction>”. <Alias> will permanently gain a one-time BPV against either the Cartel or Neutrals. You can warn a maximum of three people at a time, and if three kills are blocked via warnings then you will lose the ability to issue future warnings (though anyone that you have already warned will retain their protection). This may not be used on the same <Alias> twice and may not be used on yourself.
  • If your original role name was ‘The Jailer’, you may submit “DX - Delegate to <Alias>”. <Alias> will gain a one-shot kill (flavor: shot in the heart) usable by idling any other nightly abilities they may have. Delegated kills cannot be successful more than three times, ever. This may not be used on the same <Alias> twice and may not be used on yourself.
Additionally, you have gained a one-time use ability:
  • If your original role name was ‘The Mayor’ then you may, once, submit “NX - Double Day”. The next Day cycle will happen twice, back-to-back.
  • If your original role name was ‘The Police Commissioner’ then you may, once, submit “NX - Shield Big City”. The Big City will be taken into shelter in the police station, and everyone in it will be targeted by a Bodyguard ability that night.
  • If your original role name was ‘The Jailer’ then you may, once, submit “NX - Send <Alias> to the gas chamber”. If <Alias> is imprisoned, then <Alias> will be executed and die permanently.
None of these one-timers can be blocked, redirected, or interfered with in any way.

Finally, you may delegate a successor for the role of The Judge in the event of your untimely demise. Because The Judge is a publicly elected position, the role name of your successor will be announced publicly upon your death. If your successor is not allied with the Big City then The Judge role will simply disappear. Your successor will not be able to do this a second time, so be warned that The Judge role will vanish if your successor is killed.
It seems a limited-use day ability was used to end the vote early today!

There is currently a waiting period while the new Judge is decided.

It is now Twilight. I will move the game to Night 6 when I get all relevant Day abilities needed to proceed. You may not discuss the game with anyone for any purpose (unless you started with them in your role PM, i.e. twins or mafia etc.) until it has moved to Night.

Night 6 will end in 48 hours, or at 8 PM PST on 3/20. If twilight lasts longer than I would have expected then I may extend this further.

I have been promoted to be the Commissioner and in addition, i have gained Yeti's unrecruitability. If you were reporting to her, please message me on discord so we can hopefully keep the planning going.
