- Good defensive typing leaves it with only 2 weaknesses and several good resistances.

- Poses little offensive threat to anything not weak to it's attack.
- Fire type coverage is common, and prevents Ferroseed from being able to counter pokemon it should be able to like Roserade.

- Protect lets Ferroseed get more healing from Leech Seed and scout for choiced attacks.
- Knock Off can weaken a sweeper by removing it's Life Orb, or punish hazard removers like Dhelmise or Gligar.
- Gyro Ball does more damage then Knock Off and lets Ferroseed counter Comfey, but has a low damage output against most targets.
- Thunder Wave can cripple a sweeper, but Ferroseed will still be slower than most paralyzed opponents and it has trouble finding room for Thunder Wave on the set.
