[OVERVIEW]

Feraligatr boasts one of the best abilities in Sheer Force, which coupled with its base 105 Attack, makes it a very hard Pokemon to switch into. This is further complemented by having access to Dragon Dance, which makes it a great sweeper. Feraligatr also has decent coverage options: Crunch is able to take on bulky Psychic-types, while Ice Punch handles most Grass-types in the tier, and both moves are boosted by Sheer Force. However, Feraligatr is rather slow, as it is outsped by several common Choice Scarf users such as Shaymin and Gardevoir. Feraligatr, however, has the raw bulk to keep itself from being revenge killed by faster Choice Scarf users that lack strong, super effective coverage options, making it a formidable sweeper.

Moves
========

Dragon Dance boosts Feraligatr's Attack and Speed, making it a threatening sweeper. Waterfall hits unresisted threats very hard while almost OHKOing every offensive Pokemon and weakening defensive Pokemon after a boost. Ice Punch hits the Grass-types that resist Feraligatr's STAB move, taking down Roserade, Shaymin, Whimsicott, and Rotom-C. It's also the only move that deals significant damage to Chesnaught. Crunch deals with the abundant bulky Psychic-types in the tier, mainly Bronzong, Reuniclus, and Cresselia.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack and Speed EVs ensure Feraligatr is a dangerous sweeper. Sheer Force boosts moves with secondary effects but prevents those effects from taking place, and it is the only ability Feraligatr should run. Life Orb further enhances the Sheer Force boost, and Feraligatr does not take Life Orb recoil damage when using its moves. A Jolly nature makes Feraligatr outspeed by Swellow, but it makes Feraligatr weaker, and it might have a harder time breaking defensive threats without a positive attacking nature.

Usage Tips
========

Feraligatr should be used as a late-game cleaner, so Grass-types should be weakened before a sweep is attempted. It should set up on Ground- and Rock-types such as Gligar, Gigalith, and Rhyperior as they switch out to avoid Waterfall. A good way to weaken the opposing team is to stack entry hazards before attempting a sweep. During mid-game, Feraligatr should focus on hitting hard with Waterfall over wasting a turn setting up. Try not to set up on Bronzong and Cresselia, as they can use Toxic to cripple Feraligatr. Finally, tanking a hit and setting up with Dragon Dance is recommended, as Feraligatr has decent natural bulk.

Team Options
========

Bronzong is a good partner for Feraligatr, as it can check both Shaymin and Swellow, which are its good offensive checks. Bronzong can also wear down bulky Pokemon with Toxic and set Stealth Rock for Feraligatr. Salazzle is a good partner as well, as it can switch into most Grass-types easily and bring down Mantine, which can tank a hit from Feraligatr and use Toxic on it. Choice Band Goodra is a fantastic partner for Feraligatr, as it can counter all Grass- and Electric-types as well as weaken bulky Pokemon with Outrage. Chesnaught and Roserade can stack Spikes for Feraligatr as well as check opposing Grass-types apart from Psychic Shaymin. Generally strong Pokemon such as Choice Specs Gardevoir, Choice Specs Swellow, Flame Orb Heracross, and Choice Specs Zoroark can weaken opposing team for Feraligatr. Zoroark, in particular, helps versus stall teams, as they tend to switch their Quagsire into Feraligatr.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

A set containing Swords Dance + Aqua Jet is an option, but Feraligatr lacks the Speed to do significant damage to any offensive team other than by using Aqua Jet and versus stall team, it gets walled by Unaware users such as Quagsire and Pyukumuku. It is effective versus balance teams, however. The set also suffers from four-moveslot syndrome, as Feraligatr needs both Crunch and Ice Punch. Alternatively, a specially offensive set with Agility and Scald / Ice Beam / Focus Blast is possible to lure checks such as Chesnaught, but in general, the damage drop is significant. Feraligatr can also utilize Substitute, but it doesn't have the space for it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Unaware Users**: Quagsire and Pyukumuku switch into Feraligatr reliably and can cripple it with Toxic.

**Chesnaught**: Chesnaught takes a +1 Ice Punch from full health reliably and can KO Feraligatr back with Wood Hammer.

**Faster Pokemon**: Choice Scarf Shaymin, Choice Scarf Heracross, Choice Scarf Gardevoir, Swellow, and Jolteon can outspeed Feraligatr at +1 and hit it hard or KO it. Swellow and Jolteon only outspeed Adamant Feraligatr and so must be careful of Jolly variants.

**Status Ailments**: Feraligatr is heavily crippled by Toxic, burn, and paralysis and should avoid being afflicted.

**Haze**: Milotic and Mantine can render Feraligatr's setup useless with Haze.

- Would make Jolly the main nature on the set cause missing up on the Swellow benchmark really blows considering Swellow is generally a massive threat to the teams were you would use this mon, also missing up on stuff like Jolteon and Scarf Tyrantrum kind of suck. Jolly also has the benefits on allowing you to hit Modest Venusaur outside of Sun which, while a rather unlikely scenario, it has practical reasoning. Adamant may be stronger neutrally, which is why I believe it still deserves the slash, but idk if it is meaningful damage difference cause even stuff like Umbreon is adapting by running some defensive investment.

- IMO, mentioning on Usage Tips that Feraligatr natural bulk allow it to grab another boost or a boost in a pinch is important. It can take damage from a lot of things but having the opportunity to set up once and again after tanking a move can be a game changer. Be sure to mention that.

- On the Faster Pokemon bit on Checks & Counters I think it is important to tell that Swellow and Jolteon only outspeed Adamant Feraligatr, rephrase it a bit imo.

- Toxic on Checks & Counters can just be called Status cause Feraligatr absolutely despises any sort of status going its way. Thunder Wave cripples it, Will-o-wisp makes it useless by a far margin and toxic puts in a timer. Just call it Status and give a brief paragraph explaining how every status affects it.

Some other stuff we discussed in discord go there. QC 1/3 once implemented.

Add Choice Scarf Gardevoir as a faster Pokemon that can revenge Feraligatr if it runs Thunderbolt, an underrated option for teams that struggle against Gatr if it gets a chance to set up. Note Moonblast will also usually KO if Feraligatr takes any remotely decent hit during setup. (it does 73 min, so yeah)

QC Approved 3/3

Moves

Dragon Dance boosts Feraligatr's Attack and Speed, making it a threatening sweeper. Waterfall is the primary STAB move to use,(RC) which (naturally; it's in the set) hits unresisted threats very hard,(RC) while almost OHKOing every offensive Pokemon and weakening defensive Pokemon after a boost. Ice Punch hits Grass-types which that resist Feraligatr's STAB move and takes down Roserade, Shaymin, Whimsicott, and Rotom-Mow Rotom-C. A Jolly nature prevents that makes Feraligatr outspeed (then list relevant benchmarks; the last QC check has a fair bit. Either way saying "prevents that" doesn't make any sense) but makes Feraligatr weaker,(AC) and it might have a harder time breaking defensive threats. phantom

Banned deucer.
lack of swords dance is kinda strange cuz the set has a few notable strengths:

-lets it overpower mantine/milo/chesnaught after a little prior damage
-adamant which prevents quag from beating it as easily
-has the capability to rk junk like salazzle
-just overall better against the more prolific kinda teams, the defensive ones

anyway, picking coverage options makes the set a bit less consistent but it still seemed deserving enough to me

it can just be added later i suppose, so i'll upload this
