[OVERVIEW]

Celesteela is a solid defensive alternative to consider over Skamory, it has a solid overall bulk of 97 HP / 103 Defense / 101 Special Defense base stats and has a stronger offensive presence, being able to use moves such as Leech Seed and Heavy Slam, making it more of a tank than a defensive wall like Skarmory. Sadly, unlikely Skarmory, Celesteela doesn't have a good form of recovery like Roost, it also doesn't have access to Stealth Rock or Spikes making it unable to pressure opposing teams with hazards. Skarmory also has access to Whirlwind over Celesteela meaning it is only able to wall threats without phasing them and relying on Leech seed for Recovery. The Steel type / Flying type combo makes it a fundamental answers to the main physical threats in the metagame, such as Mega Salamence, Swords Dance Arceus variants such as Ground Arceus and Extreme Killer Arceus, Primal Groudon lacking a fire move and variants of Xerneas such as Z-Geomancy. Due to it's base 101 Attack and 107 Special Attack and access to Heavy slam which is almost always 120 Base power thanks to Celesteela's considerable heavy weight, which gives it a good enough of an offensive presence to avoid being complete Taunt bait. east Boost can be useful if it manages to KO Pokemon, boosting it's highest stat which is almost always Defense, making Celesteela a more prominent tank against physical attackers. However this ability is usually redundant as the boosts are only useful in some rare situations. Celesteela is also very slow with base 61 Speed, meaning it will be outsped by the majority of the metagame.

Moves
========

*Leech seed allows Celesteela to recover it's HP outside of Leftovers and deals damage to opposing Pokemon it cant really touch with Heavy Slam, Leech seed is essential to give Celesteela a somewhat reliable form of recovery and another method of damaging targets.

*Heavy Slam is Celesteela's main STAB move, almost always possessing a base 120 Base-Power thanks to it's heavy weight. It can 2HKO most variants of Xerneas, such as Choice Specs, Choice Scarf and All-Out Attacking sets. OHKOes Tapu Lele without taking much damage in return, It is also able to 2HKO defensive Tyranitar and force out Mega Salamence in conjunction with Leech Seed and Toxic. Pokemon such as Kangaskhan and Landorus-Therian have their offensive presence completely blocked and 3HKO'd in the process. It is also able to 2HKO Mewtwo and Mega Mewtwo-Y after Stealth Rock, while doing a huge chunk to Mega Gengar which has a possibility of being OHKOed after some initial chip and therefore these threats can't directly switch in reliably.

*Protect can be used to scout for moves that could possibly threaten Celesteela, while increase the potency of stalling out foes with Toxic and Leech Seed and also allowing it to restore health with Leftovers.

*Toxic is used to wear down targets faster and put them on timer, it also enables Celesteela to force switch outs when used in conjunction with Leech Seed and Protect.

Set Details
========
An ev spread of 248 HP / 24 Atk / 192 Def / 44 SpD allows Celesteela to effectively check Z-Geomancy Xerneas avoiding the chance of a 2hko and 3Hkoing Xerneas in return with Leech seed and Heavy Slam damage, while maximising Celesteela's physical capabilities allowing it to wall attacks from physical attackers, such as Mega Salamence, Excadrill, Landorus-T, Mega Kangaskhan, Arceus-Ground, ExtremeKiller Arceus, and Tyranitar. An Impish nature is used to maximize Celesteela's Physical Defense, A Relaxed Nature can be used if Celesteela decides to use special attacking moves such as Fire Blast to deal with Steels such as Ferrothorn. An Impish nature is used to maximize Celesteela's Physical Defense, A Relaxed Nature can be used if Celesteela decides to use special attacking moves such as Fire Blast to deal with Steels such as Ferrothorn. Leftovers are used togive Celesteela a form of passive recovery outside of Leech Seed to increase it's longevity.

Usage Tips
========

*Celesteela is best utilised to stop threats that can't really hit for super effective damage. It can pressure or wall threats such as Excadrill, Arceus-Ground, Mega Salamence, Tyranitar, Landorus-Therian, Rayquaza lacking V-create, Tapu Lele and Some variants of Deoxys-Attack, enabling them to be forced out by Leech Seed or crippling switch ins with Toxic if Celesteela is already healthy.

*It can also be used against opposing walls such as Lugia, Chansey, Blissey and Bronzong since they can't do anything to Celesteela in return, and it can utilise Leech seed for effective recovery or use Toxic to wear them down.

*Celesteela is usually the fundamental Mega Salamence or Swords Dance Arceus check on teams, it can take on these threats well, provided it hits Toxic, Heavy slam does a considerable amount of damage to Mega Salamence and Mega Salamence cannot 2HKO Celesteela after a Dragon Dance in return.

*Celesteela should not be used to check Pokemon such as Kyogre or Mega Lucario as they both use Celesteela as setup fodder, as it doesn't have access to any phasing moves to deal with them.

*Celesteela should avoid Pokemon that carry super effective coverage moves such as Fire or Electric moves, Pokemon such as Ho-Oh, Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre, Zekrom, Dialga, Reshiram and Xerenas carrying Thunder after a Geomancy Boost.

*Protect can be used to scout for moves that could potentially threaten Celesteela and whether it can stay in, such Pokemon are Primal Groudon with a Fire-type move or V-Create Rayquaza, as Celesteela can wall these pokemon if they lack these moves. It can also utilise protect to further weaken down targets with the combination of Toxic and Leech seed, while also gaining extra recovery from leftovers.

*Celesteela can also be used to KO weakened Geomancy Xerneas variants that lack Thunder, if required, as Celesteela can tank Multiple moonblasts. Thanks to the Ev spread a healthy Celesteela can take on Z-Geomancy variants and effectively take them on one on one if healthy since it avoids a 2HKO at +3 and Xerneas has no chance of stalling out Celesteela with rest due to being 3hko'd by Leech seed and heavy slam damage

Team Options
========

*Primal Groudon variants such as support can provide Stealth Rock support and switch into notable threats to Celesteela such as Primal Kyogre and Zekrom who would otherwise OHKO Celesteela with Electric-type coverage and to provide an additional check to Xerneas. Stealth Rock also helps with Ho-Oh. Fire move Primal Groudon is also recommended as Celesteela struggles with Ferrothorn that would otherwise force Celesteela out if it doesn't run Flamethrower or Fire Blast to deal with it. Stallbreaker sets such as Swords Dance can also be considered to help break stall teams. Primal Groudon appreciates Celesteela's ability to check Mega Salamence and Arceus-Ground.

*Support Arceus-Water can be used to help check Ho-Oh and Primal Groudon. Celesteela allows Arceus-water to utilise moves such as Defog or Fire Blast, since Celeesteela can take care of Mega Salamence and therefore doesn't need to worry about ice beam.

*Arceus-Dark makes a good partner as it provides good synergy and is capable of running support sets with Defog or a offensive set such as Calm Mind to break down stall teams, taking on Yveltal, Mega Gengar, Lunala, Hex Giratina-O and some variants of Primal Groudon that Celesteela would otherwise struggle with.

*Arceus-Ground also makes a good partner to consider since it covers the issue of Mega Lucario and Primal Groudon.

*Arceus-Ghost can check Mega Lucario offensively since Close Combat 2HKO's Celesteela unboosted and is unable to take it on, however this opens up a weakness to Dark types such as Yveltal.

*Tyranitar can be considered as an alternative Stealth Rock setter to Primal Groudon, to allow Primal Groudon to run a more offensive set, Tyranitar also helps out against Dark and Ghost types such as Mega Gengar, Yveltal and Lunala that Celesteela will struggle against. However this causes a Mega Lucario and Primal Groudon issue for the team so solid team partners such as Mega Salamence and Giratina-O to check these aforementioned pokemon are recommended.

*Zygarde-C is a good partner as its able to check Ho-Oh and Groudon, while scaring out Lucario if it tries to setup on Celesteela, also being able to be an effective pivot

*Pokemon such as Chansey, Blissey and Clefable can free Celesteela of any status that may cripple it such as Burns or Paralysis, while taking on threats such as Dialga and Thunder Xerneas. Chansey and Blissey can also be used to check Primal Kyogre and consider the option of running confide to help check Calm Mind Kyogre more effectively.

*Mega Salamence is a good team mate to consider as a offensive check to Primal Groudon,Mega Lucario and Ho-oh, they synergise well as Celesteela is able to take on threats to Mega Salamence such as Support or Calm Mind Arceus-Ground carrying Ice Beam and Tyranitar as Celesteela completely shuts down these Pokemon.

*Palkia is able to check Primal Kyogre well due to it's typing and utilise Z-Heal Block to break balance and stall teams.

Other Options
=============

*Flamethrower is an option in order to beat other Steel- and Grass-types like Ferrothorn, Fire Blast could also be considered if one really needs to lure a specific threat such as Mega Lucario and possibly OHKO it after some chip damage.

*Grass Knot can be used to attack Primal Kyogre for a reasonable 3HKO after Stealth Rock on the switch in, however it can OHKO Celesteela with Thunder and caution needs to be taken.

*Earthquake can be used to attack Fire and Steel-types like Primal Groudon, Mega Lucario and Dialga that would otherwise wall the standard set, though Heavy Slam is almost always the preferred choice.

*Substitute can be used to beat Mega Salamence that carry Refresh, however this set is rare and doesn't have much use outside of this.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Mega Sableye**: Mega Sableye chuckles at this Pokemon and can bounce back Leech Seed and Toxic and Celesteela can't do anything to Mega Sableye, It also gets crippled by a burn from Will-O-Wisp, hindering it's offensive presence and passive recovery.

**Ho-Oh**: Ho-oh is a serious threat to Celesteela since it is able to just shrug off anything Celesteela uses against it such as Leech Seed and Toxic thanks to Regenerator, while OHKOing Celesteela with Sacred Fire.

**Primal Kyogre:** a Water move from Primal Kyogre will chunk Celesteela and it risks being OHKOed by Thunder and Heavy Slam doesn't damage Primal Kyogre for much. Techs such as Grass Knot Celesteela can do some damage to Kyogre, to avoid being setup fodder, however it would much prefer to run Heavy slam the majority of the time.

**Primal Groudon:** Primal Groudon variants running a Fire move such as Fire Punch, Fire Blast or Lava Plume can be troublesome to Celesteela, Swords Dance Sets can also break it if Groudon has already set up, however they risk being worn down by Toxic and Leech seed, putting an earlier stop to their sweep.

**Ferrothorn:** If Celesteela doesn't carry a fire move such as Fire Blast or Flamethrower, Celesteela can't do much to Ferrothorn due to it's immunity to Leech Seed and Toxic and use Celesteela to set up Spikes or Leech Seed's of it's own.

**Mega Lucario:** Celesteela is 2HKOed by Mega Lucario and Celesteela can be used as setup fodder for Swords Dance Mega Lucario if it is healthy and proceed to sweep or break the team if Celesteela decides to stay in on Mega Lucario.

**Arceus-Electric:** Albeit rare, Arceus-electric is a major threat to Celesteela, possessing a super effective Judgment, resists Heavy Slam and is able to set up Calm Minds on Celesteela, it has to watch out for Toxic however.

**Dialga:** Heavy Slam doesn't do much to Dialga and is immune to Toxic, Dialga can use Celesteela to safely set up Stealth Rock or risk being OHKOed by Thunder or Fire Blast.

**Mega Mewtwo X:** Low Kick will 2HKO Celesteela after Stealth Rock damage, however unlike Lucario it has to care of being statused by Toxic or slowly worn down by Leech seed and protect

**Mega Gengar:** Though it cannot directly switch in as it takes a huge chunk from Heavy, Mega Gengar Variants such as Taunt and Hex Trapper can cripple Celesteela and proceed to trap and KO it.

**Special Attackers:** Pokemon like Lunala, Hex Giratina-O, Mega Mewtwo Y carrying Fire Blast and Yveltal dent Celesteela considerably as Celesteela without special investment takes a considerable amount of damage and shouldn't stay in on them, Mega Mewtwo Y cannot switch in safely to Celesteela however, as it is 2HKOed by Heavy Slam.

**Substitute users** While uncommon, Substitute ExtremeKiller Arceus and Arceus Ground actually take advantage of Celesteela and proceed to setup and therefore it cannot be worn down with Toxic and Leech Seed like standard sets are. Lugia also gives Celesteela issue as it can sub on Celesteela for free and proceed to roost or whirlwind it out as celesteela cant do anything to Lugia

A better optimized spread for the main set is this: 248 HP / 24 Atk / 192 Def / 44 SpD

24 Atk Celesteela Heavy Slam (100 BP) vs. +1 248 HP / 252+ Def Xerneas: 114-134 (25 - 29.4%) -- 99.8% chance to 3HKO after Leech Seed damage
+3 0 SpA Fairy Aura Xerneas Moonblast vs. 248 HP / 44 SpD Celesteela: 202-238 (50.8 - 59.9%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery and Leech Seed recovery

Essentially just reduces the chances of standard Z-Geomancy Xerneas breaking it without crits to near zero. Usage tips should probably note that Celesteela is capable of dealing with such a set. Make sure Set Details is changed to cover the new EVs too.

Zygarde-C should have its own bullet in team options as many teams have both for good reason (blankets a ton of physical mons).

The sub SD Arceus mention can probably just be extended to Substitute overall. Sub Lugia and Sub SD Arceus-Ground can block Celesteela's only methods of checking them. The spacing between each bullet point isn't necessary btw (only in Checks and Counters does it matter) but this will be written up after this so it's just a note for the future.

Implement for QC 2/3

The deadline on this has passed, and 2 whole months is much longer than I am comfortable waiting just for an analysis to be turned from a 2/3d skeleton into prose sentences. I hope you realize what a waste of time this has been for the QC team as well as yourself. I did warn you on discord that I will not allow future analyses from you if this doesn't end up completed after the issues with other analyses in the past (Arceus-Dark and Mega Lucario reservations that didnt even get a WIP posted), so as of now that blacklist is in effect.
