Hey all!

It's time for movepools! Stratagem had a bunch of new moves added when the updates came around, so it's going to be interesting to see what this gives Rebble and "Bolderdash" now!

Remember, This is much stricter than a normal CaP Movepool! We are only allowed the moves which Stratagem itself has in its movepool. You can move them around/change their order move TMs into level up moves and vice versa, but you cannot add any moves. This still leaves a surprising amount of variability and character for you to twist into the Prevo! I would also advise not adding transfer moves into the normal Level Up movepool as this can cause other problems!

Can you also provide me with a method of evolution for Rebble -> Bolderdash and Bolderdash -> Stratagem. This is important and your pool will not be slated if you don't have this! Please make TWO movepools and they will be voted on together (One for Rebble and one for Bolderdash), exactly how we did it for Embirch and Flarelm!

G-Luke won the Stratagem update poll (Check this post for his full reasoning) and his movepool is below:

I tried to capitalize on Stratagem's second Pokedex entries, and how it thrives on the intense heat of volcanic regions. Presumably, Rebble and Bolderdash also live there, so the Fire-types moves get to stay. In all honesty, I never got the vibe that Rebble -> Bolderdash -> Stratagem gained extra traits and that they just get stronger / more claws, so I only removed Smart Strike, Speed Swap, and Head Smash from Rebble (not pokey enough for Smart Strike, too slow for Speed Swap, and Head Smash is a little much for that little guy), Giga Impact and Hyper Beam from both, and the Heart Scale moves from both as well.

For evolution methods, evolving when it gets Ancient Power, its first Special Rock-type attack, seemed pretty fitting, especially because Stratagem's evolve move is Paleo Wave. However, to build on the volcanic aspect of the line and the "break the mold" concept, Bolderdash evolves by holding a Heat Rock. It's unprecedented, but it fits the volcanic theme and the "break the mold" theme. Stratagem even has access to Weather Ball, which is related to Heat Rock indirectly./hide]

Just a quick note on your submission snake_rattler -

Stratagem and it's line are 4th gen Pokemon. Accelerock is a 7th gen move. As such, it is highly unlikely that evolution into Stratagem would require it. Not saying that it is illegal (that's up to DHR), but it does seem a bit illogical, and would likely require it to have changed evolution method, a la Feebas.

Yeah that makes sense, I’ll change it to something else

Seemed so perfect though

Evolution methods: Rebble evolves at Level 32 and Bolderdash evolves by trade. In terms of BST, the Stratagem line is in roughly the same ballpark as the Gengar and Alakazam lines (and they're all fast special attackers), so I decided a trade evolution would fit for Bolderdash. The Stratagem line does have higher BST on average in comparison, so I decided to make Rebble's evolution level a bit later to compensate.

Note: I opted not to include an evolution move for Bolderdash. Evolution moves for middle-stage evolve-by-trade mons tend to match the evolution move for the final evolution, as seen with Haunter, Kadabra, and so on. However, G-Luke's submission for Stratagem's movepool stated that he'd prefer Paleo Wave (Stratagem's signature move and evolution move) to remain exclusive to Stratagem. I'll honor his wishes here.
  • Removed Laser Focus and Quick Guard from both (Heart Scale moves), as well as Weather Ball. Weather Ball kinda seems like it's a Heart Scale move, but even if it's not I'd rather have Rebble and Bolderdash start with just Tackle and Defense Curl.
  • Removed Paleo Wave from both (see earlier explanation)
  • Removed Giga Impact from both (generally limited to final evolutions or really burly pre-evos)
  • Removed Speed Swap from Rebble. It's a bit too slow compared to other Speed Swap users, but Bolderdash is fast enough.
  • Removed Hyper Beam from Rebble, but I let Bolderdash keep it (!!!) Unlike first stage mons, there are actually quite a few middle evolutions that can use Hyper Beam, and with Bolderdash's spiffy new design, I feel like it could reasonably pull it off.
  • Removed Fire coverage (Fire Blast, Flamethrower, Incinerate, Heat Wave) from Rebble. I don't see it breathing fire just yet.
For consistency with most other trade evolution lines, I altered the level up pattern after Level 32, but left the moves before Rebble's evolution level as is. Compared to Stratagem's 4-4-5 level up pattern, Rebble's pattern after Level 32 changes to 3-3-4, and Bolderdash's changes to 3-4-4. This allows Rebble and Bolderdash to learn their final level up moves at much more reasonable levels.

Lazer Focus, Quick Guard, and Weather Ball removed from both prevos' Level-Up movepools.
Speed Swap removed from Rebble's Level-Up movepool
Hyper Beam removed from Rebble's TM movepool
Giga Impact and Smart Strike removed from both prevos' movepool

Before I start, lemme just say rip Paleo Wave Rebble ;_; Ok so lemme just explain these removals from Strata's movepool. Lazer Focus, Quick Guard, and Weather Ball don't make sense for either prevo in my opinion. /ds speed swap, lc, all: No Pokémon found. (And I don't think Rebble deserves to be the exception) Hyper Beam is also pretty uncommon for LC/NFE mons, as is Giga Impact, although I feel Bolderdash has a powerful enough design to be able to rightfully get Hyper Beam. Smart Strike is a very VERY rare move in LC and for NFE mons, and I don't feel it fits either prevo's design. I designed my evolution methods off of that of Gastly and Abra (and I liked spark's idea) as I feel they are comparable flavor-wise.
