Build That Lure (Week 5: CM Reuniclus) (Voting Stage!)

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature or Modest Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Sludge Bomb
- Focus Blast or Vacuum Wave
- Dark Pulse or Hidden Power Ice

Nasty Plot Toxicroak is used to lure physicalls walls in general. Ghost types like Doublade, Jellicient and bulky psychics like Cresselia are lured and killed before annoying coinflips with Sucker Punch occurs. But if you already have Pursuit support you can run Hidden Power Ice which will beat Gligar and the Nidos which is nice for Cobalion!

For the nature i think Timid is better when you don't have priority and you can at least tie or outspeed Heracross, Chandelure, Nidoking. But with Modest you get a guaranteed KO on Reuniclus at +2 and i'm sure it can nab some more KOs with it.

Tornadus @ Choice Specs
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Grass Knot
- Heat Wave
- Focus Blast

Specs Tornadus, although not as good as Mixed imo, is a great partner for DD Cobalion for numerous reasons. The first one is Hurricane busting past a ton of walls that plague Cobalion, which includes, but isn't limited to: Swampert, Cresselia, Suicune, Slowking, Nidoqueen, etc. A recurring pattern you can see is the Psychic and Water-types, which are major obstacles for Cobalion, and most fall to Hurricane. Grass Knot is a cool tech to inflict heavy damage on bulky Waters such as the aforementioned Suicune and Slowking without resorting to Hurricane. Heat Wave is something that's really nice for nabbing KO's against common "flying resists" such as Doublade, Metagross, and Bronzong, the former of the latter two walls DD Cobalion completely. Finally, Focus Blast rounds off it's amazing coverage and smacks Empoleon extremely hard unlike it's other moves which merely chip it for considerable damage.

All in all, Specs Tornadus is a cool partner for DD Cobalion with it's high customizability to tailor itself to Cobalion's needs to perform a sweep.

BOY was it a close one this week, but Kreme managed to squeak past the competition and grab the W, congrats!

This week, you'll be posting lures to pair with arguably the most threatening setup sweeper in the tier:

Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Sleep Powder
- Bug Buzz
- Psychic
- Quiver Dance

I've used this alongside Celebi quite a bit. In addition to just being a decent 'mon in general, and outright beating some common things that Dazzling Gleam Celebi struggles against like Cresselia, this set is great for luring and destroying Mega-Aerodactyls and Crobats for Venomoth, the latter of which in particular always thinks they can safely revenge you even at +1. My favorite way to use it is to lead with it or double it in against a faster Celebi counter like Mega-Aero to tank the hit via Sash and get off a Sleep Powder, opening the opposing team up for a Celebi sweep.

Azelf @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Dazzling Gleam
- Flamethrower
- Trick

Lead with it to lure people into thinking you are a Stealth Rock lead set. Destroy opposing Beedrill, Sceptile, Aerodactyl, Crobat, and scarfers like Hydreigon, Mienshao, Infernape thinking they can mega evo or u-turn freely on you. Can lock stuff with Trick to possibly give set up opportunities. Can catch a Blissey with Trick or Escavalier/Metagross with Flamethrower if you're lucky. If that fails it's still a decent scarfer that revenge kills pretty much everything and will appreciate Celebi breaking stuff with its NP boosted attacks :]

Lucario @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed
- Crunch

One of the biggest issues that Reuniclus has is that it can't break past other bulky Psychic-types, Doublade hard walls it, and faster Dark-types are a pain to face. So here we have SD Lucario with Crunch, which is a really solid way to lure in the aforementioned Psychics and Doublade very easily after a boost. Of course, Lucario still looses to obvious faster Dark-types such as Krookodile and Mega Absol, so a cool tech (double lure you could say) would be Colbur Berry Reuniclus so it can blast away Dark-types with Focus Blast early on.

Heracross @ Roseli Berry

EVs: 252 Atk / 16 Def / 20 SpD / 220 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Megahorn
- Close Combat
- Swords Dance

pure flames.

roseli heracross lures shit like specs sylveon and knocks off the specs while living the non-boosted hit after rocks. it also beats stuff like sableye and snorlax which can wall and beat reun, respectively. guts allows it to take on these pokemon. it also knocks off key items like doublade's eviolite and lives +4 shadow sneak so that it can dent it w/ knock off. adamant nature makes it so that heracross can 2hko offensive sylveon after rocks 224 creeps shit creeping adamant mamo which is not that important but the def and spd is important. 20 spd allows heracross not to be ohko'd by non specs sylveon after a layer of spikes and rocks (roseli berry intact) sd heracross benefits from reuniclus threatening stuff like tentacruel and defensive fairy types. 16 def just allows heracross to take psyshocks from sylveon a bit better bc they have potential to ko after some prior damage. also allows heracross to take on doublade a bit better so it can knock off its item. sd heracross also smashes cresselia and most stall teams which makes it a superb partner for heracross. also offensively checks stuff like krook and mega absol(roselia helps with play rough so it can ko back.) wears down swampert + suicune a ton so reun can ko them before its roar'd out. heracross has very few switchins honestly and is great at wearing shit down for reun to pick off and then proceed to sweep. Hydreigon is a threat with LO draco but after it does that then reun can come in and start setting up therefore beating it 1v1

NOTE: vs sylveon it is extremely important to knock off choice specs because then it cannot beat reuniclus 1v1.

Whimsicott @ Expert Belt
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SpA / 30 Spe
- Moonblast
- Giga Drain
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Encore

It's a standard Whimsicott set that uses hp fire instead of u turn to beat Doublade, Escavalier, spe def Forretress and Metagross. The loss of u turn isnt too much a problem since Reuniclus counters everything that walls this set (Crobat, Nidos, Tentacruel, Bronzong, Blissey etc). Whimsicott is such a good teammate for Reuniclus, helping versus set up sweepers that breaks it, dark types, being a bitch to hyper offense while Reuniclus threatens bulkier playstyles you know, so it's not too hard to get those steel types to switch straight into it. It's decent coverage anyway. Try it ^^
