Xurkitree

[Overview]
Xurkitree's main selling point is its impressive base 173 Special Attack stat, giving it enough power to nearly OHKO most walls. In addition, its pure Electric typing allows it to hit many common special walls, such as Yveltal, Mega Gyarados, and Primal Kyogre, super effectively. On the other hand, Pokemon that resist Electric, such as Zygarde-C and Primal Groudon, are on almost every team, forcing Xurkitree to make predictions in order to beat these threats. Xurkitree is held back by its below average bulk and Speed, leaving it checked by foes such as Primal Groudon and Mega Mewtwo X. A lack of flexibility means that it is a generally predictable Pokemon, allowing opponents to play around it. Additionally, due to its mediocre bulk and subpar defensive typing, Xurkitree offers almost no defensive utility at all. Because of these flaws, Xurkitree needs lots of team support to function effectively, but it can perform very well if it is provided this support.

Moves

Boomburst is Xurkitree's strongest attack, dealing massive damage to even defensive Pokémon such as Registeel. Ice Beam is chosen to deal super effective damage against Dragon-types, such as Giratina, Zygarde-C, and Zekrom. Earth Power is used to hit foes that resist Boomburst and are only hit neutrally by Ice Beam, like Primal Groudon, Mega Steelix, and Dialga. Steam Eruption can be used to OHKO Primal Groudon and hit Mega Swampert harder, but it misses out on some notable foes, such as Assault Vest Dialga and Desolate Land Primal Groudon. Moongeist Beam can be used to check Shedinja, but it provides almost no coverage outside of this. Volt Switch deals a reasonable amount of damage and switches Xurkitree out, allowing another breaker to switch in for free. However, keep in mind that it can be blocked by Ground-types. Trick can be used to hamper the defensive abilities of foes such as Fur Coat Chansey by locking them into one move. After being given Xurkitree's Choice Specs, they are forced to choose between forgoing recovery and giving up momentum every time they switch in.

Set Details

Choice Specs boosts the power of Xurkitree's attacks by 50%, enabling it to deal massive damage on a correct prediction. Galvanize is necessary to change Boomburst into a STAB Electric-type move. Timid is used to outspeed neutral-natured base 90s including Primal Kyogre, but Xurkitree can potentially be at risk if these foes choose to use a positive nature themselves. A Modest nature can be used instead due to Modest Xurkitree's ability to always 2HKO Sassy variants of Giratina at the cost of Speed.

Usage Tips

This Xurkitree set is very prediction reliant, and a missed prediction could potentially be disastrous even against defensive teams. Scout out opponents using Imposter users to make sure that Xurkitree isn't at risk of being trapped and KOed by threats such as Perish Trap Zygarde-C on a missed prediction. Xurkitree doesn't have much use against offense teams, so it shouldn't be needlessly conserved while facing them. Xurkitree can usually take one hit from foes like Mega Mewtwo X and OHKO in return, but this quality might not be worth the effort of safely pivoting it in. When going up against opposing Pokémon that are threatened by Xurkitree's last move, try to bluff not having the move if you can; your opponent will become less hesitant to switch these Pokémon in, easing prediction. However, an opposing Imposter user can give away this information to your opponent. Try to keep status moves such as Toxic away from Xurkitree, because it can potentially become worn down very quickly over the course of the battle. Hazard removal is also recommended, as Xurkitree can be worn down very easily by hazards such as Spikes.

Team Options

Xurkitree does well when paired with Pokémon that do well against offense, including Poison Heal Regigigas, Psychic Surge Mega Mewtwo Y, and Triage Mega Rayquaza, to supplement its own bad matchup against offensive teams. A Pokémon with a lure move, such as Knock Off Mega Mewtwo X, can help Xurkitree break through defensive teams more easily by helping it break through Assault Vest users like Giratina. Slow pivots, like Mega Audino and Registeel, are almost mandatory because they can easily bring Xurkitree in for free. Additionally, they can provide it with hazard control. Xurkitree can be imposter-proofed with Pokémon that have good special bulk and aren't weak to Boomburst. Examples include Giratina, Assault Vest users such as Solgaleo, and even your own Imposter Chansey. Alternatively, Pokémon with ability-based immunities, like Levitate or Desolate Land Primal Groudon, can do the job safely as well. Hazard setters make Xurkitree's job much easier by allowing it to effectively OHKO foes such as Mega Audino; additionally, even counters such as Assault Vest Regenerator Giratina are pressured heavily with hazards up.

[Other Options]

* Xurkitree could potentially run a Galvanize Earth Plate Shell Smash set; however, its frailty means that it does poorly against offense, and Judgment is too weak in comparison to STAB Galvanize Judgment to threaten out opposing Imposters. Even at +2, it fails to break many foes, meaning that Choice Specs is the better set.

[Checks and Counters]
**Ground-types**: Pokemon such as Zygarde-C can switch into Xurkitree's Boomburst and get momentum. However, they are at risk of taking lots of damage if Xurkitree predicts the switch.
**Giratina**: Even without a defensive nature, Giratina can take Xurkitree's Electric-type STAB moves and stall it out. However, variants without an Assault Vest must be wary of Ice Beam, as the move can 2HKO when boosted by Choice Specs.
**Offensive Pressure**: Faster offensive Pokemon such as Primal Groudon can threaten to OHKO Xurkitree with their STAB moves, forcing it out.
**Chansey**: Imposter variants of Chansey can switch in on most Xurkitree sets and win against all variants except Shell Smash ones. However, it takes lots of damage from Choice Specs-boosted Earth Power, and it risks losing momentum if hit by Volt Switch while switching in. Fur Coat Chansey, on the other hand, can consistently switch in on even Boomburst as long as its Eviolite is intact.
**Sturdy Shedinja**: Unless Xurkitree is carrying Leech Seed, Shedinja can consistently switch in on it and force it out.
**Soundproof Users**: Pokemon that utilize the Soundproof ability, like Mega Audino and Arceus, can avoid the 2HKO from Xurkitree by virtue of their immunity to Boomburst.

Xurkitree

[Overview]
* Xurkitree's main selling point is its impressive base 173 Special Attack stat. It is one of the best wallbreakers in the metagame that can deter defense-oriented teams.
* In addition, its pure Electric typing allows it to hit Kyogre, the most prominent special wall in BH, super effectively. I would mention more stuff that it hits. It is one of the few -ate users that are able to hit Registeel neutrally with its STAB move, as well as severely denting the likes of Mega Audino or other premium walls.

Moves

* Boomburst is Xurkitree's strongest attack, dealing massive damage to even defensive Pokémon such as Registeel.
* I know literally no one uses Techno Blast, but when I did the same thing for my Kyurem-W analysis' Refrigerate part, QC team suggested me to include it. Just say it can be used to hit Soundproof users at a cost of lower power, less PP, and inability to hit through Substitutes which is not often worth.
* Ice Beam is chosen to deal super effective damage against Ground- and Dragon-types, such as Giratina and Zygarde-Complete.
* Earth Power is used to hit opponents that resist Boomburst and are only hit neutrally by Ice Beam, like Primal Groudon, Mega Steelix and Dialga.
* Many options fit in Xurkitree's final moveslot: Secret Sword helps it bypass Chansey, Volt Switch can switch Xurkitree out against a predicted switch to an unfavorable opponent, Core Enforcer improves Xurkitree's matchup against Regenerator Assault Vest users such as Giratina, and Moongeist Beam can KO Sturdy Shedinja on the switch. -----> I definitely agree with this but how about adding this to the Usage Tips or Team Options? ------> Choose a move based on not only the opponents you want to beat, but also the Pokémon you want to use against Imposters.

Usage Tips

* This Xurkitree set is very prediction reliant, and a missed prediction could potentially be disastrous even against defensive teams. Scout out opponents using Imposter users to make sure that Xurkitree isn't in danger of moves like Anchor Shot if you predict wrong.
* Xurkitree doesn't have much use against offense teams, so it shouldn't be needlessly conserved while facing them. Xurkitree can usually take one hit from opponents like Mega Mewtwo X and OHKO back, but this quality might not be worth the effort of safely pivoting it in.
* When going up against opposing Pokémon that are hit super effectively by Xurkitree's last move, try to bluff not having the move if you can; your opponent will become less hesitant to switch these Pokémon in, easing prediction.
* Try to keep status moves away from Xurkitree, because it can potentially become worn down very quickly over the course of the battle. Hazard removal is also recommended.

Team Options

* Xurkitree does well when paired with Pokémon that do well against offense, including Choice Scarf users such as Kartana and -ate users like Black Kyurem Kyurem-B.
* It also appreciates the support offered by Imposter Chansey, which can act as a hazard remover if needed.
* A Pokémon with a lure move, such as Knock Off Primal Groudon, can help Xurkitree break through defensive teams more easily.
* Slow pivots, like Mega Audino and Registeel, are almost mandatory because they can easily bring Xurkitree in for free with their low Speed and solid bulk.
* Xurkitree can be imposter-proofed with Pokémon that have good special bulk and aren't weak to Boomburst. Examples include Giratina, Assault Vest users such as Solgaleo, and even your own Imposter Chansey. Alternatively, Pokémon with ability-based immunities, like Levitate Primal Groudon, can do the job safely as well.

**Surge Surfer**
Xurkitree @ Magnet / Focus Sash / Electrium Z / Life Orb (I do not have much knowledge about Xurkitree in BH, but I would say Life Orb won't be bad at all. Add if you agree)

IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam / Moongeist Beam
- Sparkling Aria
- Tail Glow / Quiver Dance

[Set Comments]

Moves

* Thunderbolt is the STAB move of choice, dealing lots of damage with a boost from Electric Terrain.
* Ice Beam is used to provide coverage alongside Thunderbolt. It allows Xurkitree to outspeed and OHKO opponents such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Sceptile in Electric Terrain.
* Moongeist Beam, while KOing Sturdy Shedinja, allows Xurkitree to easily bypass opponents like Giratina while also heavily damaging foes with Unaware.
* Sparkling Aria is used to OHKO most variants of Primal Groudon, which could normally survive a hit and OHKO in return. It also hits through opposing Substitutes, allowing Xurkitree to pick off opponents that are trying to stall out Electric Terrain turns.
* Tail Glow improves Xurkitree's matchup against defensive teams, but it almost requires the use of an Unaware Pokémon for opposing Imposters. Quiver Dance is better against offense teams because it's easier to set up and still allows Xurkitree to outspeed some opponents outside of terrain, but it doesn't allow it to break through opponents like Giratina. Again, I believe stuff like the underlined portion over there is better in Team Options section.

Usage Tips

* Xurkitree should be brought in on a slow U-Turn if possible due to its relative frailty.
* No hazard removal (except removal of the uncommon Sticky Web) is needed unless you are using the Focus Sash set.
* On the other hand, Xurkitree derives numerous benefits from entry hazards, such as the ability to get past Sturdy Shedinja and Focus Sash users, from having Stealth Rock set up against the opposing team.
* Make sure any strong priority users are out of the picture first if you intend to sweep with Xurkitree.

Team Options

* Xurkitree pairs well with slow Electric Terrain setters that can easily pivot it in.
* A teammate with Dazzling or Queenly Majesty can deter priority for Xurkitree.
* Suicide leads such as Turboblaze Deoxys-Speed can reliably set up Stealth Rock, allowing Xurkitree to sweep more easily. I somewhat disagree with this point. This metagame grants everyone access to Defog and Rapid Spin, and this means the hazards that were set can easily be removed while Electric Surge support switches in and attempts to bring in Xurkitree. I would just say Xurkitree appreciates entry hazards so it won't waste Surge Surfer - boosted turns hitting Focus Sash or Sturdy Shedinja.
* Defensive Steel-types can easily take hits from -ate users, giving Xurkitree more opportunities to sweep. or keep it safe in general
* Make sure you have counters for opposing Psychic Surge users like Mega Mewtwo Y.

**Shell Smash**
Xurkitree @ Focus Sash
Ability: Dazzling

Modest Nature / Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shell Smash
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam / Moongeist Beam / Blue Flare / Psystrike
- Earth Power

[Set Comments]

Moves

* Shell Smash boosts Xurkitree's Special Attack and Speed by two, instantly turning Xurkitree into a very threatening Pokémon.
* Thunderbolt is necessary to beat opponents such as Regenerator Assault Vest Primal Kyogre, and it hits very hard. and is the only reliable STAB move.
* Xurkitree has many options for its third moveslot depending on which opponents you want it to beat.
* I think you have to explain what each does. Such as Ice Beam nailing Dragons, Moongeist Beam detering Giratina / Sturdinja / Unaware, Blue Flare against Steel-types, Psystrike or Secret Sword against the likes of Chansey, etc.
* Earth Power is chosen because it allows Xurkitree to beat opposing Imposters after a Shell Smash, unless its Focus Sash is broken and it loses the speed tie. 4 SpD EVs are used to always OHKO Eviolite Imposter Chansey with a Modest nature; if Timid is chosen, give Xurkitree 0 SpD EVs and 16 SpD IVs.
* Use a Timid nature only if you want Xurkitree to outspeed certain Choice Scarf Pokémon. Otherwise, Modest is the better choice.

Usage Tips

* Beware of multi-hit move users, such as the uncommon Bonemerang Primal Groudon, while setting up. Ideally, try to set up a Shell Smash on a forced switch.
* Keep in mind that Xurkitree relies on its Focus Sash to set up safely, so hazard removal is necessary for it to function against offensive teams.
* Consider switching Xurkitree out if you think the opposing Pokémon can survive a +2 hit, especially if Xurkitree's Focus Sash is still intact. Shell Smash can potentially backfire if the opponent carries Spectral Thief or a phazing move such as Dragon Tail.
* Xurkitree can sweep much more easily if it doesn't have to worry about opposing Focus Sashes. Try to get Stealth Rock up before bringing it in.
* Never switch Xurkitree in unless you're sure the opponent can't threaten it. Instead, bring it in on a slow pivot move or a KO.

Team Options

* This Xurkitree does best on hyper offense teams because it will likely only get one opportunity to sweep.
* A suicide lead can keep hazards off Xurkitree's side of the field, preserving its Focus Sash.
* Make sure you have a faster Pokémon to threaten out opponents like Normalize Mega Gengar, which can potentially take advantage of Xurkitree's low Speed before it sets up.
* Don't overlook opposing Imposters, which can potentially beat Xurkitree and pose a threat to the rest of your team. Defensive Imposter counters don't fit the types of teams this Xurkitree works best on, so try checks like Prankster Destiny Bond users that can switch in on any attack once.

[Other Options]

* A Timid Nature can be run on Xurkitree instead of Modest to outspeed Pokémon such as neutral nature Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon. However, extensive scouting is required to make sure that these opponents aren't running a +Speed nature. They also have to scout for Choice Scarf.
* Xurkitree could potentially run a Galvanize Earth Plate Quiver Dance set; however, its frailty means that it does poorly against offense; additionally, Judgment is too weak to threaten out opposing Imposters.
* A Swift Swim Thunder Xurkitree set is potentially viable on rain teams, but Xurkitree's attacks are very underwhelming without Electric Terrain support.
* I wouldn't mention this. Instead, talk about how Refrigerate can surprise the opponent. This is up to you, however.

[Checks and Counters]
* Giratina: Even without a +SpD nature, Giratina can take any hit from Xurkitree, even a +2 Moongeist Beam, and steal its boosts or stall it out. It must be wary of Choice Specs sets, though, which can force it out if they hit it on the switch.
* Assault Vest Users: Pokémon such as Solgaleo can usually switch in safely on Xurkitree and force it out, recovering some health afterwards due to Regenerator.
* Offensive Pressure: If Xurkitree is faced with hazards and strong wallbreakers, it won't be able to accomplish anything.
* Imposter Chansey: Imposter Chansey can switch in on most Xurkitree sets and win against all variants except Shell Smash ones. They force Xurkitree to switch out, making its team lose momentum.

I have also experimented with a sheer force set running thunderbolt/steam eruption/ice beam/quiver dance which is a solid late game sweeper, especially if you can bring it in under psychic terrain to block priority moves. Steam eruption is great since it can easily smash apart non desolate land primal groudon, and it outspeeds Adamant non-scarf groudon, so if you scout the set and realize it's adamant, you have it checked. Ice beam nails non AV Zygarde-c for 90% at +0, straight up OHKOs at +1, and can 2hKO giratina at +1. Thunderbolt just hits mega hard against non immunities and non-4x resists too. also I'd just get rid of the surge surfer set, since it's erally easy to just bring in psychic terrain MMY to cancel the terrain, then zurk must switch out or be OHKOed by a stab psychic move. It might be alright for OO. THen again, a bulkier electric like zekrom can rpobably run surge surfer better than this thing anyway, since you're supposed to sweep with it so it has to have a little bit of bulk to take pivot moves and other hits alright which Zurk does not.

one by one:
It is one of the best wallbreakers that can deter defense-oriented teams.
Yeah, I should add that because I need to describe what Xurkitree actually does.
I would mention more stuff that it hits. It is one of the few -ate users that are able to hit Registeel neutrally with its STAB move, as well as severely denting the likes of Mega Audino or other premium walls.
This is true, I'll put it in.
Techno Blast
Fair enough. Techno Blast is terrible and I don't see why you'd ever use it (where is soundproof?????) but I guess it deserves a mention.

I've been trying out other moves in the last slot, and the absolute best one I've found is Leech Seed. Even though it's kind of silly on a Choice set, it works really well because not only can it smack Sturdy Shedinja on the switch, it can also steadily help Xurkitree recover off chip damage if the opponent has a counter like AV Regenerator Giratina.

Life Orb on the Surge Surfer set
The biggest issue I have with this is the fact that Xurkitree gets worn down really quickly. This is a problem because of Triage Rayquaza:
252 SpA Life Orb Rayquaza-Mega Oblivion Wing vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Xurkitree: 105-125 (28.3 - 33.7%) -- 0.5% chance to 3HKO hmm actually xurk takes it pretty well. -ate speed is a problem tho but it still probably deserves a mention. Electrium is still my favorite tho because it can just blow through fast offense mons.

Moongeist Meme on Surge Surfer
seems solid enough on Tail Glow variants. let's see how it handles ray:
252+ SpA Xurkitree Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Rayquaza-Mega in Electric Terrain: 237-280 (57.2 - 67.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO I guess it's legit

Defog and Rapid Spin
From my experience, it actually isn't too hard to keep hazards up if your terrain setter has a reasonable offensive presence.

I agree with everything not mentioned here.

That's pretty cool! Earth Power over Steam Eruption would probably be best tho because (assuming neutral natures on both) Xurkitree still cleanly OHKOs Groudon at +1.

About the Surge Surfer set, I think that Xurkitree is still good at this role because unlike Zekrom, it can break Fur Coat mons and stuff; it's just better against defensive teams.

Thanks for your input!

* Xurkitree's main selling point is its impressive base 173 Special Attack stat.
* In addition, its pure Electric typing allows it to hit Kyogre, the most prominent special wall in BH, super effectively. [Weirdly worded bullet point. Saying its Electric-type allows it to hit Kyogre sounds weird, also I wouldnt say that Primal Kyogre is the most prominent special wall since this could change through metagame trends in the future. Reword this to "It's Electric typing allows it to hit prominent defensive Pokemon such as Yveltal, Primal Kyogre and Mega Gyarados hard with its STAB attacks" or something like that]
* However, Xurkitree is held back by its below average bulk and Speed. [Mention how this bulk and Speed allows it to be revenge killed by priority and faster things like the Mewtwos and PDon]
* A lack of resistances means that Xurkitree offers almost no defensive utility at all. [It resists Flying, which could come in handy vs Aerilate]
* These flaws mean that Xurkitree needs lots of team support to function effectively.
* Xurkitree can potentially be devastating if it's given the support it needs. [Pretty vague statement. If you don't plan on fleshing this out then there's no point of it being here]

* Earth Power is used to hit opponents that resist Boomburst and are only hit neutrally by Ice Beam, like Primal Groudon, Mega Steelix and Dialga.
* Leech Seed helps Xurkitree survive longer over the course of a match by restoring its HP on forced switches. Additionally, it allows Xurkitree to KO Sturdy Shedinja and wear down Imposter Chansey more easily.
* Other moves are also potentially viable options for the fourth moveslot. Choose a move based on not only the opponents you want to beat, but also the Pokémon you want to use against Imposters. [Extremely ambiguous, doesn't require stating. Replace this with points on Trick and Volt Switch]

[Set Details where ?_?]

Usage Tips

* This Xurkitree set is very prediction reliant, and a missed prediction could potentially be disastrous even against defensive teams. Scout out opponents using Imposter users to make sure that Xurkitree isn't in danger of moves like Anchor Shot if you predict wrong. [Describe the context in which xurk can be punished for not predicting correctly. What is it that's using Anchor Shot? ]

* When going up against opposing Pokémon that are hit super effectively by Xurkitree's last move, try to bluff not having the move if you can; your opponent will become less hesitant to switch these Pokémon in, easing prediction. [Mention how Imposter ruins this strategy. Also what do you mean with "last move", because as it is now your last move is Leech Seed]
* Try to keep status moves away from Xurkitree, because it can potentially become worn down very quickly over the course of the battle. [Status moves like what?] Hazard removal is also recommended.

* It also appreciates the support offered by Imposter Chansey [What type of support?], which can act as a hazard remover if needed. [This sounds extremely inconsistent and unreliable. Surely there are better hazard removers]
* A Pokémon with a lure move, such as Knock Off Primal Groudon, can help Xurkitree break through defensive teams more easily. [What does Knock Off Pdon do for xurkitree specifically? Doesn't sound like a worthwile move to me at all. If its for surprising Giratina there are far better options.]
* Slow pivots, like Mega Audino and Registeel, are almost mandatory because they can easily bring Xurkitree in for free. [Explain why this is important]
* Xurkitree can be imposter-proofed with Pokémon that have good special bulk and aren't weak to Boomburst.

* Xurkitree has many options for its third moveslot depending on which opponents you want it to beat.

[These aren't prominent enough to warrant their own sets, briefly describe them under Other Options instead.]

[Other Options]

* A Timid Nature can be run on Xurkitree instead of Modest to outspeed Pokémon such as neutral nature Primal Kyogre and Primal Groudon. However, extensive scouting is required to make sure that these opponents aren't running a +Speed nature. [This should go under Set Details]
* Xurkitree could potentially run a Galvanize Earth Plate Quiver Dance set; however, its frailty means that it does poorly against offense; additionally, Judgment is too weak in comparison to STAB Galvanize Judgment to threaten out opposing Imposters.
* A Swift Swim Thunder Xurkitree set is potentially viable on rain teams, but Xurkitree's attacks are very underwhelming without Electric Terrain support. [Mention how this requires a ton of support to pull off]

[Checks and Counters]
* Giratina: Even without a +SpD nature, Giratina can take any hit from Xurkitree, even a +2 Moongeist Beam [Use Ice Beam as your example, Moongeist Beam isn't featured in this analysis], and steal its boosts or stall it out. It must be wary of Choice Specs sets, though, which can force it out if they hit it on the switch. [Too many uses of "it" makes it hard to track what Pokemon you're talking about here]
* Assault Vest Users: Pokémon such as Solgaleo can usually switch in safely on Xurkitree and force it out, recovering some health afterwards due to Regenerator. [Solgaleo gets 2HKO'd]
* Offensive Pressure: If Xurkitree is faced with hazards and strong wallbreakers, it won't be able to accomplish anything. [This could be worded a lot better. Mention how it struggles vs offensive teams due to its lackluster defenses and below average Speed. Hazards doesn't stop xurk from doing work as much as the next breaker in BH.]
* Imposter Chansey: Imposter Chansey can switch in on most Xurkitree sets and win against all variants except Shell Smash ones. [Mention how it fears certain coverage moves or Volt Switch]
Hopefully this gives you an opportunity to fully flesh out the main set, Galvanize, and the rest of the analysis, since they can do with some detail. Tag me when you're done

you failed to make changes regarding the 2nd and 3rd bullet points under team options, also make sure to include priority as a means of checking / countering Xurkitree towards the bottom, but other than that its good.

Overview
  • Really hype up its Special Attack, since it enables it to 2HKO the majority of walls in the metagame, something that is really impressive in the No EV Limit meta.
  • It also hates that its most spammable move cannot touch Ground-types and is resisted by Dragon-types, meaning that it must play more prediction orientated in a Primal Groudon and Giratina infested tier.
  • Also mention that Xurkitree is extremely limited in turns of viable sets it can run (hint it can only one run), meaning that it is extremely predicable threat that in result can be played around more freely.
Galvanize Wallbreaker:

Moves:
  • You can just mention Dragon-types for what Ice Beam targets cause all other Ground-types like Primal Groudon, Mega Steelix and Mega Swampert are neutral to it, while things like Zygarde-C and Mega Garchomp fall into the "Dragon-type" category already. Also mention Zekrom as a Ice Beam target.
  • To be honest I would change Earth Power with Steam Eruption, not only does it ensure the KO on Primal Groudon, but it can also hit other Ground-types such as Mega Steelix and Mega Swampert for more damage. Yes you are more weak to Assault Vest variants of Dialga, but you can still just pivot on them. It can still 2HKO non +Spd nature Dialga with Boomburst nonetheless.
  • Giratina commonly runs either a Z-Crystal or Griseous Orb anyways to block Trick, mention other targets like FC Chansey.
  • I am not to keen on Leech Seed, especially on a Choice set. Yeh the extra recovery is nice and it beats Sturdinja, but it still forces Xurk out the next turn (meaning it can potentially receive more entry chip damage) and just acts as a huge momentum suck in general. If anything, slash Moongeist Beam alongside Earth Power.
Set Details:
  • Remove mention of Tbolt and Electric Surge please, its so bad that its not even worth mentioning its inferiority compared to the Galv set. Just say that it enables Xurk to spam Boomburst freely due to its immense power.
  • Timid should be slashed first. Being able to outspeed neutral nature Primals, alongside other things like Dialga and Mega Garchomp is also nice. It can still 2HKO most things regardless of Modest boost.
Usage Tips:
  • Third bullet is a bit weirdly stated, just mention that bluffing certain coverage moves can be advantageous in luring in popular switchins like Primal Groudon and even Sturdy Shedinja.
  • Last bullet should also enphasive its weakness to Spikes.
Team Options:
  • Psychic Surge Mega Mewtwo Y and Triage Mega Rayquaza are other mentions that do well against offense.
  • Imposter Chansey should never really switchin to Primal Groudon especially if you know its going for a Ground-type attack to hit Xurk. Tbh Imposter Chansey is so standard that I dont even think this bullet is even needed.
  • If you want Knock Off users.go with things like Yveltal and Mega Gyarados instead.
  • Replace Levitate Primal Groudon with Desolate Land in order to coincide with change of coverage option.
  • Electric Surge is bad and should never be used, was fun while it lasted early SM BH.
Other Options:
  • ^
  • Just mention Shell Smash alongside Galvanize with potentially running Espeed and Earth Plate. It lets Xurk catch setup checks like Prank Regi off guard. However, mention how inferior this would be compared to Specs.
  • Remove Swift Swim.
Checks and Counters:
  • Ground-types should be the first bullet. Yes Xurk can nab them with coverage moves but it would still always want to just spam Boomburst nontheless.
  • Mention Chansey in general, since both Imposter and Fur Coat sets can be annoying.
  • They are more rare these days, but also mention Soundproof mons for obvious reasons.
Good work, I would like to see the write-up before I stamp this.

this is written up, i pretty much just removed the bullet points since it seemed to stand pretty well on its own. hope that's ok

i disagree with earth power->steam eruption because it doesn't seem like it offers many benefits, like sure you ohko pdon from full but is that really worth the drawbacks of missing out on desolate land/dialga? i slashed it because i think earth power is still a viable choice

the point of knock off is to lure giratina, it's not staying in on gyara and either way av regen giratina isn't a pdon switchin so i changed it to mmy like maybe you could run a sheer force knock off set, sounds cool

free electric surge tho

Ok I can concede with a Steam Eruption slash, however please remove Leech Seed mention. Also I think MMX would be a better Knock off example then its Y counterpart.

also there are still some bullets you forgot to remove, plz review my check carefully.

Super quick and maybe too late since already in GP, but I glanced at this on lunch break at work a couple of days ago and have been left wondering: shouldn't Surf/Sparkling Aria be chosen over Steam Eruption? The move is there for Pdon specifically, right? So, since the only listed item is Specs, Surf is a guaranteed KO without the 5% miss chance. Or is Steam Eruption on there for times Specs is missing or the burn chance?

seems legit, sparkling aria is probably better because it provides good coverage vs. pretty much anything behind a sub in conjunction w boomburst. run surf if you're facing gmu tho (read: deserves a mention)

Funbot28 should i add this

[Overview]
Xurkitree's main selling point is its impressive base 173 Special Attack stat, giving it enough power to nearly OHKO most walls. In addition, its pure Electric typing allows it to hit many common special walls, such as Yveltal, Mega Gyarados, and Primal Kyogre, (add comma) super effectively.

Ice Beam is chosen to deal super effective damage against Dragon-types, such as Giratina, Zygarde-Complete, and Zekrom. Earth Power is used to hit foes opponents that resist Boomburst and are only hit neutrally by Ice Beam, like Primal Groudon, Mega Steelix, (add comma) and Dialga. After being given Xurkitree's Choice Specs, they are forced to choose between forgoing recovery and being extremely passive every time they switch in.

A Modest nature can be used instead due to Modest Xurkitree's its ability to always 2HKO Sassy variants of Giratina at the cost of speed.

Xurkitree can usually take one hit from foes opponents like Mega Mewtwo X and OHKO in return, but this quality might not be worth the effort of safely pivoting it in.

* Xurkitree could potentially run a Galvanize Earth Plate Shell Smash set; however, its frailty means that it does poorly against offense; additionally, Judgment is too weak in comparison to STAB Galvanize Judgment to threaten out opposing Imposters. Even at +2, it fails to break many foes, meaning that Choice Specs is the better set.

[Checks and Counters]
**Ground-types**: Pokemon such as Zygarde-Complete can switch into Xurkitree's Boomburst and get momentum. However, they are at risk of taking lots of damage if Xurkitree predicts the switch.

**Giratina**: Even without a +SpD nature, Giratina can take Xurkitree's Electric-type STAB moves and stall it out.
