Overview
  • Solgaleo is a great defensive pivot in the Balanced Hackmons metagame due to its admirable Steel / Psychic defensive typing. Allowing to it resist popular offensive types such as Fairy, Dragon, and Ice while also possessing a 4x resistance to Psychic-type moves, enabling it to check common offensive threats such as Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Rayquaza, and Mega Diancie. It also grants it neutrality to Fighting-type attacks, giving it an edge over Registeel as a defensive Steel-type due to the popularity of Fighting-type moves coverage options on Psychic-type offensive threats.
  • It also carries fantastic bulk, allowing it to sustain hits even from powerful attackers such as Choice Specs Boomburst Mega Rayquaza and Moongeist Beam Mega Mewtwo Y when equipped with an Assault Vest.
  • Solgaleo can also dish out a respectable amount of damage of its own as well thanks to its above average offensive stats, leaving it to be less passive then other defensive Steel-types such as Registeel and Aegislash.
  • Nonetheless, it holds weaknesses to prevalent offensive types in Ground, Ghost, Dark, and Fire, granting offensive threats such as Flare Blitz Mega Diancie and Precipice Blades Kyurem-B the opportunity to break through it with their coverage moves. V-Create is also a popular attacking option on a variety of offensive threats, meaning that Solgaleo can often have a difficult time switching in versus threats its supposed to check.
  • Solgaleo also struggles to check setup sweepers, due to it needing to be at near full health in order to endure hits from offensive threats such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo Y after they have acquired enough boosts.

Moves
  • U-Turn is an important move on this set, as it allows Solgaleo to pivot out against Pokemon who threaten it out and allows it to restores 1/3 of its health when it comes back in thanks to Regenerator. Meaning that Solgaleo can continuously check threats without giving up momentum.
  • Spectral thief is Solgaleo's most reliable way to check setup sweepers. This is important as if Solgaleo would simply pivot on a threat that boosted their Speed stat, the rest of the team might not be able to revenge kill it. With Spectral Thief, it can steal boosts from threats such as Shell Smash Mega Mewtwo Y and Triage Mega Rayquaza behind a Substitute and potentially prevent a sweep. Spectral thief also deals respectable damage especially to Psychic-types that Solgaleo is supposed to check.
  • Dragon Tail is another option to phaze out Normal-type setup sweepers such as Regigigas, however this can be mitigated through the use of Substitute, making the option rather unreliable.
  • Sunsteel Strike is a reliable STAB move that allows Solgaleo to pose as an offensive threat. It also pertains the benefited factor of KOing Sturdy Shedinja.
  • Core Enforcer can be used instead to target incoming threats who dislike having their abilities ignored such as Poison Heal Primal Kyogre and other Regenerator Solgaleo.
  • Various support options can be run in the final slot depending on what utility Solgaleo must provide its team with. Rapid Spin is a great utility move that allows Solgaleo to clear entry hazards off it's side of the field, with Solgaleo's above average bulk enabling it many opportunities to pull the move off. Knock Off is an alternative option that offers Solgaleo useful coverage, allowing it to target Psychic- and Ghost-types alongside removing the opponent's item. Which can be extremely useful if Solgaleo is able to knock off Eviolite from Chansey or a Toxic Orb on Mega Audino. Ice Hammer can be used as a coverage option to OHKO Mega Rayquaza and 2HKO Zygarde-C.

Set Details
  • Assault Vest is equipped as it is necessary for Solgaleo to reliably check the threats its intended to switch into. Solgaleo also does not mind solely using attacking moves, as it possesses great offensive stats compared to other common Assault Vest users such as Registeel and Zygarde-C. This allows Solgaleo to fill a supportive role through the use of its offensive presence, allowing it to threaten offensive and defensive teams alike.
  • Regenerator is used as it works wonderfully alongside Assault Vest, due to it increasing Solgaleo's sustainability and helping it switch in much more frequently.
  • EVs have been maxed out in every stat except Speed to turn Solgaleo into a bulky pivot with creditable offensive prowess. 232 EVs have been invested in Speed to allow Solgaleo to outspeed Mega Garchomo while also underspeeding Kyurem-W.

Usage Tips
  • Solgaleo should be utilized as a specially defensive pivot, due to Regenerator paired with its great bulk allowing it to come in on powerful special attackers such as Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Rayquaza, and Primal Kyogre repeatedly if they have not garnered any setup boosts. Thanks to Regenerator + U-Turn, it should be used to provide its team momentum as it threatens out the aforementioned Pokemon.
  • However, most of the aforementioned threats often carry coverage moves such as Moongeist Beam, V-Create, and Precipice Blades to target Solgaleo. Therefore, it should scout for these moves before deciding to switch in against these targets to avoid being weakened down immensely.
  • Due to Solgaleo's great sustainability through simply switching, it can be used to scout opposing sets since it is able to withstand the majority of neutral to even weak super-effective hits
  • Core Enforcer can suppress Solgaleo's ability if it chooses to switch in against common users such as Mega Rayquaza, Primal Kyogre, and Giratina. Meaning that Solgaleo should only switch in versus threats that carry Core Enforcer if it has substantial HP, since Solgaleo can be left severely weakened the next time it chooses to switch-in. It is also fearful of Knock Off, since it removes the item it needs to check the threats it is intended to switchin to.
  • Special setup sweepers such as Mega Gengar, Mega Rayquaza, and Primal Kyogre often carry Spore, meaning that Solgaleo should be wary when switching into these threats to avoid being put to sleep.

Team Options
  • The metagames most prominent physical walls in Zygarde-C and Giratina are some of the best partners for Solgaleo, due to their resistance to Fire-type attacks alongside their amazing physical bulk allowing it to check Pokemon that threaten Solgaleo immensely such as Mega Blaziken, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Mewtwo-X. Solgaleo's resistance to Fairy-, Dragon-, and Ice-type attacks allows it to check threats to Zygarde-C and Giratina such as Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Kyurem-W in return.
  • -Ate wallbreakers such as Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Xerneas can also be great partners, due to Solgaleo's ability to imposter proof them if they carry specific type plates. Solgaleo can also be useful since it can provide momentum and bring in the aforementioned wallbreakers safely thanks to pivoting from U-turn.
  • Setup sweepers such as Primal Kyogre, Regigiggas, and Mega Gengar are valuable teammates as well, since they can help break through walls such as Zygarde-C, Giratina, and Registeel that can prevent Solgaleo from being effective. They also appreciate Solgaleo's ability to knock off opposing Safety Goggles, enabling them to put to sleep opposing walls with Spore.
  • Bulky Dark-types such as Yveltal, Mega Gyarados, and Alolan-Muk can help Solgaleo check opposing Dark- and Ghost-types, while Solgaleo can check Fairy-types in return.
  • Partners that can switch into moves that annoy Solgaleo like Knock Off and Spore are highly appreciated. Examples included Magic Bounce Registeel and Poison Heal Mega Audino.
  • Offensive wallbreakers that can take advantage of Solgaleo's pivoting and that can revenge kill weakened down threats are beneficial, with the most prominent examples being Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Rayquaza, and Kartana.
  • Entry hazard removers can also be useful to clear off Spikes, which otherwise fear Solgaleo into switching in. Defog users such as Giratina and Mega Audino are the most notable.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

  • Various supportive attacking moves can be utilized on either the third or fourth move slots depending on what Solgaleo should provide for its team, with other examples including Nuzzle, Scald, Metal Burst, and Poison Fang. However, these options are more team specific.
  • A Unburden set with Belly Drum + Sitrus Berry can be used as a surprise set to allow Solgaleo to act as a fearsome lategame cleaner with Sunsteel Strike. Although, this forfeits Solgaleo's defensive capabilities and requires more support.
  • Flash Fire and Levitate can also be utilized to great affect as well, allowing Solgaleo to check prominent threats that often carry Fire- and Ground-type coverage respectably in order to threaten Steel-types such as Mega Diancie and Mega Rayquaza.
  • A Jolly / Timid nature with full Speed investment can also be utilized on the Assault Vest set to allow Solgaleo to outspeed threats such as Jolly Kyurem-B and neutral nature Yveltal. However, the decrease in special bulk is apparent.

Checks and Counters

[Ground-types]: Threats such as Mega Garchomp, Zygarde-C, and Red Orb Groudon can all deal hefty amount of damage towards Solgaleo with their Ground-type STAB attacks, forcing it out in majority of cases.

[Super-Effective Coverage Moves]: Popular coverage moves such as Moongeist Beam, V-Create, Thousand Arrows, and Earth Power are often run a variety of offensive threats such as Mega Mewtwo-Y, Mega Diancie, and Kyurem-W, enabling them to dent Solgaleo extremely hard or potentially land a KO.

[Bulky Dark-types]: Dark-types such as Yveltal and Mega Gyarados can threaten out Solgaleo with their STAB attacks such as Knock Off and Pursuit, however Solgaleo can still hit the aforementioned targets decently hard with U-turn.

[Status Conditions]: Spore and Will-O-Wisp can cripple Solgaleo immnesely, preventing it from being as effective as a wall and offensive threat.

[Spikes]: Spikes can be annoying for Solgaleo, as they can turn 3HKO's from certain offensive threats into 2HKO's.

Allowing to it resist popular offensive types such as Fairy-, Psychic-, and Ice-types, enabling it to check common offensive threats such as Mega Mewtwo Y, Mega Rayquaza, and Mega Diancie.worth mentionning dual resist to psychic allowing it to take hits easier when psychic terrain is up, and neutrality to fighting which is a common coverage type due to secret sword being often used against av users
  • It also carries fantastic 137 HP alongside respectable 107 / 89 bulk correct me if I'm wrong, but bulk is the combination of HP and defences, either say 107/89 defences or say 137/107/89 bulk, which allows it to sustain hits even from powerful attackers.examples? such has moongeist from mmy or specs boomburst from aerilate ray
  • Nonetheless, it holds weaknesses to prevalent offensive types in Ground-, Ghost-, Dark-, and Fire-type attacks, granting offensive threats such as Flare Blitz Mega Diancie and Precipice Blades Kyurem-B the opportunity to break through it with their coverage movesv-create is worth mentionning, being significantly more powerful than other coverage moves.
  • Solgaleo also struggles to check setup sweepers as wellsaying "also" and "as well" in the same sentence is redundant, due to its needing to be at near full health in order to endure hits from offensive threats such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo Y after they have acquired enough boosts.
  • offensive stats?? Solgaleo has an edge over registeel n shit because it dishes out good damage on both sides

Moves
  • Sunsteel Strike is a reliable STAB move that allows Solgaleo to pose as an offensive threat. It also pertains the benefited factor of KOing Sturdy Shedinja. As well as hurting Mega Audino and forcing it out which would otherwise pivot against Solgaleo's team with lower Speed tier.
  • Rapid Spin is a great utility move that allows Solgaleo to clear entry hazards off it's side of the field, with Solgaleo's above average bulk enabling it many opportunities to remove entry hazards.
  • Knock Off is an alternative option that offers Solgaleo useful coverage, allowing it to target Psychic- and Ghost-types alongside removing the opponent's item. Which can be extremely useful if Solgaleo is able to knock off Eviolite from Chansey or a potential Choice Scarf on Primal Groudon.
  • Pursuit is another useful coverage move that allows Solgaleo to trap and potentially KO Psychic-types such as Mega Mewtwo Y and Deoxys-A on the switch out after some chip damage.
  • Scald is alternative option that can be spammed to spread burns, and Solgaleo's bulk lets this to be posible. Also it can be used to punish Primal Groudon which is comon switch-in against Solgaleo.
  • Spectral Thief is another useful coverage move that allows Solgaleo to steal opposing stat boosts from setup sweepers such as Primal Kyogre, Mega Rayquaza, and Mega Mewtwo Y, potentially enabling it to sweep afterwards. It also allows Solgaleo to hit Psychic- and Ghost-types for respectable damage as well.
  • U-Turn is an important move on this set, as it allows Solgaleo to pivot out against Pokemon who threaten it out such as Primal Groudon, Mega Garchomp, and Mega Gyarados. It also allows Solgaleo to restores 1/3 of its health when it comes back in thanks to Regenerator.
Set Details
  • Assault Vest is equipped as it allows Solgaleo to become a great special wall. Solgaleo also does not mind solely using attacking moves, as it possesses great offensive stats compared to other common Assault Vest users such as Registeel and Zygarde-C. Strongly agree. If I were to elaborate, I would say it is one of the rare RegenVest users that is not passive.
200 EVs have been invested in Speed to allow Solgaleo to outspeed Adamant Primal Groudon, which prevents it from being trapped by Magnet Pull sets.
  • A Jolly / Timid nature with full Speed investment can also be utilized to allow Solgaleo to outspeed threats such as Jolly Primal Groudon, Kyurem-B, and neutral nature Yveltal. However, the decrease in special bulk is apparent.
  • However, most of the aforementioned threats often carry coverage moves such as Moongeist Beam, V-Create, and Precipice Blades to target Solgaleo. Therefore, it should scout for these moves before deciding to switch in against these targets to avoid being weakened down immensely. Who will scout those moves? Imposter? Others?
  • Core Enforcer also can suppress Solgaleo's ability if it chooses to switch in against common users such as Mega Rayquaza, Primal Kyogre, and Giratina. Meaning that Solgaleo should only switch in versus threats that carry Core Enforcer if it has substantial HP, since Solgaleo can be left severely weakened the next time it chooses to switch-in.
  • Normal-type setup sweepers such as Regigiggas and Arceus do not fear the use of Spectral Thief, therefore it should pivot out against these threats as soon as possible to avoid the possible sweep.
  • Special setup sweepers such as Mega Gengar, Mega Rayquaza, and Primal Kyogre often carry Spore, meaning that Solgaleo should be wary when switching into these threats to avoid being put to sleep.

Team Options
  • Zygarde-C is one of the best partners for Solgaleo, due to its resistance to Fire-type attacks alongside its amazing physical bulk allowing it to check Pokemon that threaten Solgaleo immensly such as Primal Groudon, Mega Gyarados, and Mega Mewtwo-X. Solgaleo's resistance to Fairy-, Dragon-, and Ice-type attacks allows it to check threats to Zygarde-C such as Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Kyurem-W in return.
  • -Ate wallbreakers such as Mega Diancie, Mega Rayquaza, and Xerneas can also be great partners, due to Solgaleo's ability to imposter proof them if they carry specific type plates. • Bulky Dark-types such as Yveltal, Mega Gyarados, and Alolan-Muk can help Solgaleo check opposing Dark- and Ghost-types, while Solgaleo can check Fairy-types in return.
  • Add Z-Parting Shot, it really helps when Solgaleo has dangerously low healtH.
  • Knock Off - absorber in the team is necessary so run stuff like Zyg-C or Fairy types with Z-Crystal.
  • Teammates that can deal with offensive Fire or Ground types, this needs specific mention especially bc some of these carry Magnet Pull.

Strategy Comments

Other Options

  • Core Enforcer and Nuzzle can be run on the Assault Vest set, with the former being able to suppress abilities such as Poison Heal and Shadow Tag, letting Solgaleo be much more of a nuisance versus specific offensive threats. While the ladder allows Solgaleo to cripple any offensive threat who is not immune to Electric-type attacks or the paralysis condition.
  • Magic Bounce can also be equipped to bounce back status moves and entry hazards, allowing Solgaleo to lure out these type of moves being used against it.
  • A Fur Coat set can be utilized to turn Solgaleo into a physically defensive wall, although it is generally preferred as a specially defensive pivot due to the types it resists.
  • You can optimize Speed to outspeed Jolly Pdon, but this is up to you.
  • Solgaleo's virtue of its typing and bulk allows it to be utilized as a good imposter-proofing wall, such as it can improof Pixilate Diancie with V-create when equipped with Flash Fire.
  • Safety Goggles can be equipped to surprise foes who expect RegenVest set that is very passive to Spore, but it is generally inferior due to lack of passive recovery from Regenerator and noticable different in terms of bulk without AV.
  • Unaware set can deal with stuff like PH Ogre but it suffers from Regigigas' Knock Off so its possible option... won't really mind if you decide not to add this.

Checks and Counters

[Primal Groudon]: Primal Groudon can threaten out Solgaleo immensely, as not only does it hit it hard with both its STAB moves, but it also resists Solgaleo's Steel-type attacks and takes minimal damage from its other coverage moves. While forcing out Solgaleo, it can severly damage the next switch-in, pivot against it, or simply set up.

If Assault Vest has been removed or Solgaleo is not healthy enough, it can't consecutively take hits from aforementioned coverage moves.

[Bulky Dark-types]: Dark-types such as Yveltal and Mega Gyarados can threaten out Solgaleo with their STAB attacks such as Knock Off and Pursuit, however Solgaleo can still hit the aforementioned targets decently hard with U-turn.

[Magnet Pull]: Common Magnet Pull users such as Primal Groudon and Mega Garchomp can trap and KO Solgaleo with their STAB attacks. However, if Solgaleo chooses to run max speed investment, it can pivot out against Adamant Primal Groudon with U-turn to prevent it from being trapped.

[Status Conditions]: Spore and Will-O-Wisp can cripple Solgaleo immnesely, preventing it from being as effective as a wall and offensive threat. Paralysis leaves it vulnerable to Magnet Pull trappers as well as sometimes being unable to pivot.

Looks good overall. Existing contents don't seem to have much problems so its just about adding stuff.

Moves
  • Sunsteel Strike is a reliable STAB move that allows Solgaleo to pose as an offensive threat. It also pertains the benefited factor of KOing Sturdy Shedinja.
combine all of the 4th move in one point by saying that various support options can be run depending on team needs and then briefly explain what they do
  • Rapid Spin is a great utility move that allows Solgaleo to clear entry hazards off it's side of the field, with Solgaleo's above average bulk enabling it many opportunities to remove entry hazards.

It also allows Solgaleo to hit Psychic- and Ghost-types for respectable damage as well.
  • Spectral thief is Solgaleo's most reliable way to check setup sweepers. This is important as if solg would simply pivot on a mon that boosted speed the rest of the team might not be able to revenge kill it, but with spectral thief it can steal boosts from shell shasm mmy or triage ray behind a sub and potentially prevent a sweep. Spectral thief also deals respectable damage especially to psychic types that solg is suppose to check. Phasing moves are another option allowing solg to hit normal types but are generally inferior as it can be mitigated by substitute and both phazing move have a immunity that is more troublesome than normal.
(I kinda rewrote it because yours was iffy)
  • U-Turn is important as it is what allows solgaleo to pivot in and out of the field while regaining health with regenerator, which means solgaleo can continously checks threats without losing momentum is an important move on this set, as it also allows Solgaleo to pivot out against Pokemon who threaten it out such as Primal Groudon, Mega Garchomp, and Mega Gyarados. It also allows Solgaleo to restores 1/3 of its health when it comes back in thanks to Regenerator.

talk more generally about the combination of regen and assualt vest which allows solg to heal while keeping momentum while making use of its offensive presence rather than support capabilities.

  • Assault Vest is equipped as it allows is neccesary for Solgaleo to become a great special wall reliably check the stuff its suppose to check. Solgaleo also does not mind solely using attacking moves, as it possesses great offensive stats compared to other common Assault Vest users such as Registeel and Zygarde-C.

  • A Jolly / Timid nature with full Speed investment can also be utilized to allow Solgaleo to outspeed threats such as Jolly Primal Groudon, Kyurem-B, and neutral nature Yveltal. However, the decrease in special bulk is apparent.keep that for OO

  • Special setup sweepers such as Mega Gengar, Mega Rayquaza, and Primal Kyogre often carry Spore, meaning that Solgaleo should be wary when switching into these threats to avoid being put to sleep.
review theses tips, they're kinda weird. Solgaleo's main use it keeping momentum, it's never a bad thing to pivot out of a faster threat. Since it doesn't need to click a recovery move it can be used to scout sets via clever switching by switching on a move it can tank and switching out to another midground play to scout for supereffective coverage. Solg can tank a bunch of weaker se moves so don't be afraid to send it on a moongeist beam. Make sure to avoid knockk off as much as possible and don't stay in on mons that typically carry spore. Solg can be used in that way to give free switches to other teamates by switching on a stab move from ray for example and than going in another mon on the coverage move or on spore.
Just think about how you use solg and write it down.

[Primal Groudon]: Primal Groudon can threaten out Solgaleo immensely, as not only does it hit it hard with both its STAB moves, but it also resists Solgaleo's Steel-type attacks and takes minimal damage from its other coverage moves.worth mentionning that don is super common

[Status Conditions]: Spore and Will-O-Wisp can cripple Solgaleo immnesely, preventing it from being as effective as a wall and offensive threat.

spikes can be quite annoying for solg, making 3hkos into 2hkos

It also grants it neutrality to Fighting-type attacks, giving it an edge over Registeel as a defensive Steel-type due to the popularity of Secret Sword as a coverage option on Psychic-type offensive threats.
It's not actually a better check than Registeel since most Psychic-types run Moongeist Beam, imho. THe regen-vest component is what makes it better since it can actually take a moongeist and pivot out, though it will still be a net loss of health even with regenerator.
• It also carries fantastic 137 / 107 / 89 bulk, allowing it to sustain hits even from powerful attackers such as Choice Specs Boomburst Mega Rayquaza and Moongeist Beam Mega Mewtwo Y when equipped with an Assault Vest.
• Solgaleo can also dish out a respectable amount of damage as well thanks to its above average 137 / 113 offensive stats, leaving it to be less passive then other defensive Steel-types.
V-Create is also a popular coverage move on a variety of offensive threats, meaning that Solgaleo can often have a difficult time switching in versus threats its supposed to check.
• Solgaleo also struggles to check setup sweepers, due to it needing to be at near full health in order to endure hits from offensive threats such as Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo Y after they have acquired enough boosts.
Again, Moongeist beam is a big problem for this thing since a lot of setuppers run it to beat Unaware users.

- U-turn

Moves
• Sunsteel Strike is a reliable STAB move that allows Solgaleo to pose as an offensive threat. It also pertains the benefited factor of KOing Sturdy Shedinja.
I don't really like Pursuit here; I'd always pick Core Enforcer before I picked Pursuit but that's just me. THe only thing Pursuit can really hit reliably is MMY on the switchout. If normalize GZengar wasn't a think this would be a great move, but it is.
Core Enforcer gets rid of abilities allowing it to check PH Regigigas and punish Imposter switchins by not letting them regenerate their hp

Set Details
• Assault Vest is equipped as it allows Solgaleo to become a great special wall. Solgaleo also does not mind solely using attacking moves, as it possesses great offensive stats compared to other common Assault Vest users such as Registeel and Zygarde-C.
Minimum speed, for slowest U-turn pivot potential, still not bad

Also can be switched in against more passive threats to get more regenerator recovery, since it's vital that Solgaleo stay at full health to check really powerful things. For example specs MMY's moongeist beam
• However, most of the aforementioned threats often carry coverage moves such as Moongeist Beam, V-Create, and Precipice Blades to target Solgaleo. Therefore, it should scout for these moves before deciding to switch in against these targets to avoid being weakened down immensely.

Giratina is similar to Zygarde-c and has the benefit of having no 4x ice weakness. It also can't be trapped, and is probably a better user of z parting shot than Zygarde-c since it's harder to OHKO. Also, it can safely pivot Solgaleo into Sturdy Shedinja since it's immune to Endeavor, which is something Zygarde-C hates taking. It adds an extra Dark/Ghost weakness to your team though. Still worth mentioning, as it can check different things that Zygarde can't.
And Psychic-types

Strategy Comments

Other Options
• Core Enforcer and Nuzzle can be run on the Assault Vest set, with the former being able to suppress abilities such as Poison Heal and Shadow Tag, letting Solgaleo be much more of a nuisance versus specific offensive threats. While the ladder allows Solgaleo to cripple any offensive threat who is not immune to Electric-type attacks or the paralysis condition.
I'd put this in moves. Core Enforcerer is just that good.
Revelation Dance can be used to counter Normalize mega Gengar, dealing over 80% to it. This is a legit option and definitely should be here

• Magic Bounce can also be equipped to bounce back status moves and entry hazards, allowing Solgaleo to lure out these type of moves being used against it.
Registel usually does this better because of its balanced defenses, so it can switch in on more things and stay in against more things. Plus, it can equip safety goggles so that mold breaker spore users don't shut it down
• A Fur Coat set can be utilized to turn Solgaleo into a physically defensive wall, although it is generally preferred as a specially defensive pivot due to the types it resists.
I have never seen fur coat solgaleo. EVER
All-out offensive set can be somewhat effective thanks to its great bulk and solid attacking stats, but Mega Metagross does it better.

Checks and Counters

[Primal Groudon]: Primal Groudon can threaten out Solgaleo immensely, as not only does it hit it hard with both its STAB moves, but it also resists Solgaleo's Steel-type attacks and takes minimal damage from its other coverage moves.
Like motherlove said, Groudon is very common here, and the jolly banded Magnet Pull sets are basically a death sentence for Solgaleo unless you run Jolly.

Can probably remove this if you add in the Primal Groudon section. Mega Chomp's not very common atm. You can probably add it to the Groudon section by just saying physically offensive Ground-types or something like that
[Status Conditions]: Spore and Will-O-Wisp can cripple Solgaleo immnesely, preventing it from being as effective as a wall and offensive threat.
But Para isn't so bad once Groudon has been defeated.

Add Core Enforcer removing its Regenerator recovery. A lot of Core Enforcere users are utility mons that run Knock off as well, which renders Solgaleo almost useless because of the loss of the AV.
It's probably worth mentioning that Spikes are a huge problem for Solgaleo since it needs to be at full health to check stuff, so even if it can spin them away it has to take a good amount of damage on the way in to do so.

  • Rapid Spin is a great utility move that allows Solgaleo to clear entry hazards off it's side of the field, with Solgaleo's above average bulk enabling it many opportunities to remove entry hazards. mention that solgaleo can be spinblocked by defensive ghosts like giratina due to its lack of power so it can be unreliable
  • Knock Off is an alternative option that offers Solgaleo useful coverage, allowing it to target Psychic- and Ghost-types alongside removing the opponent's item. Which can be extremely useful if Solgaleo is able to knock off Eviolite from Chansey or a potential Choice Scarf on Primal Groudon. keep in mind that imposter forces you out by threatening to knock off av
  • Pursuit is another useful coverage move that allows Solgaleo to trap and potentially KO Psychic-types such as Mega Mewtwo Y and Deoxys-A on the switch out after some chip damage. if you can consistently wall/force them out, i don't think you need them gone. i'd rather click u-turn in this situation
  • Spectral Thief is another useful coverage move that allows Solgaleo to steal opposing stat boosts from setup sweepers such as Primal Kyogre, Mega Rayquaza, and Mega Mewtwo Y, potentially enabling it to sweep afterwards. It also allows Solgaleo to hit Psychic- and Ghost-types for respectable damage as well. solgaleo never sweeps except against those awful mewtwo spam teams, i think that part should be removed
  • dragon tail is also good because if you're up against something that might set up (so you don't want to click u-turn) and they reveal contrary v create or something then you can phaze to something more passive

[Bulky Dark-types]: Dark-types such as Yveltal and Mega Gyarados can threaten out Solgaleo with their STAB attacks such as Knock Off and Pursuit, however Solgaleo can still hit the aforementioned targets decently hard with U-turn. i wouldn't worry about these because regenerator mostly negates pursuit and yveltal usually runs revelation dance while solgaleo outspeeds all gyarados. maybe just say "support mons" because solgaleo doesn't really do anything to them except for mega audino while they can do whatever in return (also solgaleo's u-turn is too fast)
