Season 4 Pokemon Showdown Tournament

Semifinals

chemcoop vs Jhon
[ cant say vs Psynergy ] vs [ Mishimono vs greenDarkness ]

bracket: http://challonge.com/BSSCS4PS

Specific Rules
  • This is a standard SM Battle Spot Singles Tournament.
  • The tournament will be Best of Three, Single Elimination. Starting Top 4 it will be best of 5.
  • Players may change their teams during the Best of Three.
  • Matches are to be played on Pokemon Showdown/SmogTours
  • Replays must be saved and POSTED. Matches without a replay will not count as completed. If you don't want to risk forgetting to save replays play on Smogtours as it's automatic there.
  • In an event of a timeout, the player who times out will lose that game unless the opponent grants a rematch. This holds true even for a disconnect, due to being unable to know which three Pokemon have been selected at team preview. Consequently, players do not need to send in their teams to a TD.
Standard Rules
  • Matches will be played in the Singles format
  • Pokemon above level 50 will be brought down to level 50. Pokemon below level 50 stay as is.
  • Players pick 3 of their 6 Pokemon at team preview.
  • Symbol Clause: A Pokemon cannot have a set that can only be obtained from Generation 5 games and before (i.e. no <6th gen exclusive tutor/event moves or abilities).
  • Species Clause: No two Pokemon in the same team can have the same National Pokedex number.
  • Item Clause: No two Pokemon in the same team can hold the same item.
The following Pokémon are banned (all forms):
  • Mewtwo
  • Mew
  • Lugia
  • Ho-oh
  • Celebi
  • Kyogre
  • Groudon
  • Rayquaza
  • Jirachi
  • Deoxys
  • Dialga
  • Palkia
  • Giratina
  • Phione
  • Manaphy
  • Darkrai
  • Shaymin
  • Arceus
  • Victini
  • Reshiram
  • Zekrom
  • Kyurem
  • Keldeo
  • Meloetta
  • Genesect
  • Xerneas
  • Yveltal
  • Zygarde
  • Diancie
  • Hoopa
  • Volcanion
  • Cosmog
  • Cosmoem
  • Solgaleo
  • Lunala
  • Necrozma
  • Magearna
  • Marshadow

  • Greninja (Battle Bond form only)

Simulator Glitches: Any battle mechanics not properly implemented in the simulator used for a tournament battle are fair game, unless explicitly banned by that tournament's rules. Illegal movesets that are not restricted by the simulator fall into this category as well. However, this does not include faulty tier scripts; for example, if there was a bug in the BW OU tier script that allowed you to use Drizzle and Swift Swim on the same team, taking advantage of this would result in disqualification in that battle. If a game breaking glitch is discovered, we will make a blanket tournament ban on that glitch via an announcement in the Tournaments forum until it is fixed.

Ghosting: The player in a tournament battle should be the one making their own decisions. Do not tell a player what move to make in a tournament battle (i.e. do not "ghost" them), and do not make your moves based on another person's suggestions. If we are made aware that someone playing a tournament battle is making some of their moves based mainly on the suggestions of someone else, punishments may be handed out to both parties involved.

Identity: Pretending to be another player in relation to a tournament battle is strictly prohibited. Do not try to impersonate or play as another player. This applies to the use of alts as well. Any player who breaks this will be disqualified.

Rule Breaking: If a player breaks a rule during a battle, they are disqualified from that particular battle. If it was a single battle in a series, they will still have the opportunity to play the rest of the series.

Draws: If a battle ends in a draw in an elimination tournament or another tournament format that is unable to handle draws, there should be a rematch between the players with the option for both players to change teams.

Forfeiting: A player may forfeit their battle during or after the battle, as long as the result has not been confirmed by the host. If a player forfeits before a battle commences in the first round of a tournament, they are eligible for substitution if appropriate. We highly recommend that you do not forfeit your tournament battles just because you got lucky, but we do not enforce this.

Host / Tournament Director Decisions: The host may make a judgment call on the outcome of a battle with a disputed result, even if one player has broken the rules. If you believe the host has made an unjust decision, you may inform the Tournament Director responsible for the tournament of the situation and request that they make a final call on it.

Sportsmanship: If a player displays exceedingly poor sportsmanship before, during, or after a tournament battle, they may be disqualified or otherwise punished.

This round ends Wednesday, June 28 11:59PM EST.

i may be asking for too much but if we can get an extensionless finals that would be great thanks

I understand that week was extended, but I already called Activity on Mishimono for not showing up to the match at the time we scheduled. Round 4 or not I shouldn't be expected to play someone who didn't bother to show up at the time we agreed upon; without good reasoning. I've got work, and other personal commitments, therefore I am unable and unwilling to reschedule.

Mishimono has attempted to reschedule before the deadline, so an activity call could not be made as they have not been inactive. Missing one scheduled time alone is not reason enough to grant a win, especially at this stage of the tournament, so a two day extension was the best option available. Whether or not you are unable to fight is up to you to discuss with Mishimono, but being unwilling to reschedule will not be accepted as a viable reason not to do so.

Just saw a response from Mishimono. I didn't see the message that he apologized till now. So, I'd like to apologize to him as well.

Ok so I'm going to have to make an activity call on Mishimono vs greenDarkness .

Mishimono was unable to make the first time they scheduled, and greenDarkness didn't know about Mishi's attempt to reschedule afterwards for two days. By the time he realized that Mishi was attempting to reschedule, green was unable to play for a while past the extension deadline. However, there was no intent from green not to play for his own personal gain, as they do give Mishi the option to claim the win due to their unavailability, to which Mishimono decided to let me determine the outcome. Both of them have shown great sportsmanship in this regard. Going back to who ends up getting the win, while green is partially at fault for not coming into contact with Mishi for two days after Mishi's attempt at rescheduling, the bigger fault in this scenario was Mishi missing their initially planned schedule to play the match. As such, greenDarkness gets the win.

The top 4 match will be cant say vs greenDarkness . Remember top 4 is a bo5.

Took the set vs. Jhon 3-1. Definitely some hax in my favor in the first game, but the rest were fairly clean. Definitely an honor to finally play Jhon senpai as bobochan would say.

Ok unfortunately greenDarkness has been DQ'd for breaking the Identity rule, and cant say gets a bye to finals. Recreation will not happen as Mishimono (GD's previous opponent) has lost due to activity.

I'd like to apologize on behalf of everyone. I am personally good friends with greenDarkness, and I advised him on what to do and what not to do prior to the tournament. I had no idea that joint accounts were not allowed. Let's just say that there's no hard feelings and it was an honest mistake. Lance (the guy who was playing) and greenDarkness (the account Lance was using to schedule) did not know about this, as they're not active Smogon users, and they have no hard feelings with anyone either. Good luck to cant say and chemcoop in the finals. I would like to say though, that those were some really good matches and both players easily deserved the win. Again, honest mistake that anyone could have made and there's no hard feelings between anyone on this. It's unfortunate that this had to happen, because Lance vs Chemcoop would have been an awesome match. Shoutsouts to the Battle Spot community for being awesome; any other tier would have handled this completely differently, in a bad way, you guys are cool.
