Astrolotl @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spikes
- Fire Lash
- Toxic
- Knock Off / Dragon Claw

With a variety of utility moves and Regenerator, Astrolotl can fill many different niches for balanced or offensive teams as an offensive supporter. Its Spikes set is one of its strongest options. With Fire Lash's Defense drops forcing switches often, Astrolotl has ample opportunities to set Spikes. Toxic cripples defensive Pokemon like Tomohawk and Mandibuzz, which could otherwise stomach multiple hits from Fire Lash and remove Astrolotl's Spikes. Knock Off removes important items like Tomohawk's Rocky Helmet, Mandibuzz's Heavy-Duty Boots, and Slowbro's Heavy-Duty Boots, while Dragon Claw deals more consistent damage to Fire-type resistant Pokemon like Hydreigon. These moves weaken the opposing Pokemon quickly so that Astrolotl's wallbreaking and sweeping teammates, such as Rillaboom, Urshifu-S, and Cinderace, can more easily pick up KOs. Defensively, Astrolotl can pair well with Slowking and Tomohawk, as it switches into Rotom-H quite easily.

With a variety of utility moves and Regenerator, Astrolotl can fill many different niches for balanced or offensive teams as an offensive supporter. To this end, Astrolotl's Spikes set is one of its strongest options. With Fire Lash's Defense drops forcing switches often, Astrolotl has ample opportunities to set Spikes. Knock Off removes important items like Tomohawk's Rocky Helmet or Marowak-A's Thick Club Slowbro's Heavy Duty Boots, while Dragon Claw deals more consistent damage to Fire-type resists like Hydreigon. Toxic can cripple defensive Pokemon like Tomohawk or Mandibuzz, but Taunt can deny them from healing altogether I haven't seen enough taunt+knock to justify including it here, potentially slash over spikes if anything to include the potent taunttox. These moves weaken the opposing Pokemon quickly so that Astrolotl's harder hitting teammates, such as Rillaboom, Urshifu-S, and Cinderace, can more easily pick up KOes. Also, Astrolotl can pair well with Slowking and Tangrowth Would prefer tomohawk over tang as well, spin + spikes is good, but up to you, as it checks Rotom-H and completes a powerful Regenerator core.
